Cahuenga Peak, the mountaintop next to the Hollywood sign, we hear, was in danger. A group in Chicago got their hands on the mountain for a cool $1.7 million. They then offered to sell it for $11.7 million. Rumor has it were it not for some very generous donors, the Hollywood sign would be well on its way to seeing itself in the middle of a tourist town.
Hef wouldn't hear of it! He was joined by Aileen Getty and the Tiffany & Co. Foundation. Each of them donated $1 million to placing the mountain in the hands of the Trust for Public Land.
And to show their thanks, the trust is going to commemorate their donors' memory with plaques. On boulders. They want to let everyone know who helped save the area.
The party, according to savehollywoodland.org, is Dec. 9.
Who better to have his name on a boulder by the trail to the Hollywood sign than Hugh Hefner? And the Hef's gonna get immortality in the sun because of his generous donation to the betterment of his community. We heart you, Hef.
