Well, would ya look at this? Director Kate Siegel, 22, and her director-producer mother, Kim Friedman (The Love Boat, Alice, A Different World) held auditions for their new brainchild at Club In or Out in New Jersey. The mother-daughter team plans to plop a group of LGBT people of all genders and sexualities in a beach house in Atlantic City, and call it, of all things, “Under the Boardwalk.”
Now, where could they have come up with such an idea?
Though this new series is inspired by Jersey Shore, and many of the auditioners seemed to model themselves after the show's cast, Siegel insists "We're not looking to create a gay version of the Jersey Shore or to find ‘the gay Snooki.’ And in no way will this be anything that has a negative effect on the LGBT community. We're hoping for anything compelling, because you never know what's going to walk through the door.”
"But if we do find ‘the gay Snooki,’ of course we'd be thrilled," Friedman interjected.
It's just what the LGBT community always wanted! And surely, now, since they're jumping on the sucking wound that is the Jersey Shore bandwagon, they'll get the recognition and equality they hope for and deserve, right?
Was that too much sarcasm? We're sorry. Blame Snooki.
