It's not every day you hear of an NFL player distancing himself from porn stars. Hell, some of the cheerleaders' outfits border on stripper costumes. But it seems Miami Dolphins rookie Daniel Thomas and a few others are trying pretty darn hard to do just that.
An advertisement for Exxxotica Expo, the “largest event in the U.S.A. dedicated to love and sex,” featured a picture of Thomas and other players along with their names and suggested that the players would be hosting. Another advertisement for the “Welcome to the NFL” party at the Miami Gardens’ strip club, King of Diamonds, claimed the players were hosting, as well. Thomas says that's simply not true.
A statement from Thomas delivered by his agent said, “I was informed today that my name was used by the promoters of a party held May 20th at Club Play in Miami. I had no knowledge of the event and did not authorize the use of my name for this party and will pursue all remedies available to me to protect the use of my name. I was in Los Angeles at Rookie Premiere that weekend. I am a man of high ideals and am deeply saddened by what has occurred.”
The ad has been removed from the Exxxotica Expo web site. The evidence suggests that either the promoters or agents for the players (or both) got a little carried away. The NFL is busy, as you may have heard, with much bigger legal issues.
