Pleasure is good. The body is good. Sex is good.
These are the things “Rev. Bev” preaches when she talks to people about God and sex. But who is she?
Her name is Beverly Dale, and she says she's a “consultant on body justice and sexuality ministries.” She's a farmer's daughter, and was once a submissive wife. She's been involved in erotic literary salons and held sexual discussions in bars and taprooms. And she's a Christian and an ordained minister of the Disciples of Christ Church.
Dale says the Christian church is "afraid of sex, passion, and pleasure. These are very powerful forces and can get people in trouble if they're not careful. But rather than dealing with them in a moral or ethical way, we put a lid on them."
Dale told the Philadelphia Enquirer she wants Christians to “do more dancing, less warring; more sharing, less accumulating; forget multiplying, she exhorts, go forth and make love.”
We think Rev. Bev is on the right path and hope more folks will dance along behind.
