Zachary Quinto probably inspires a lot of people to a lot of things, mostly to fantasies about Zachary Quinto.

But he inspired one ABC News anchor to make the very cool move of coming out and in a rather smooth, understated way. Dan Kloeffler, one of the anchors of the 3 a.m. show World News Now, was reporting on Quinto’s coming out as gay when he slipped in the fact that Quinto is 34, he, Dan is 35 and— you can see the video on Gawker— “I can lose my distraction about dating actors right from that one, maybe …”

On the ABC News website, Kloeffler explains that his motives were more altruistic: “As a journalist, I don’t want to be the story, but as a gay man I don’t want to stand silent if I can offer some inspiration or encouragement to kids that might be struggling with who they are.”
