Reality Kings, an adult film production company, has found itself in a bit of hot water over its recently released porn flick Island Adventure. The film was shot on a well-known Miami beach, but the company never sought the proper licensing. As if that weren't enough, officials from the city are particularly perturbed because the area is considered a public park.
The place is called Flagler Monument Island, and in the center is a memorial erected after the death of Henry Flagler, John Davison Rockefeller's partner in Standard Oil. Flagler was an American tycoon, real estate promoter, and railroad developer, and he's credited with much of Florida's East Coast development.
“This is not an uninhabited island miles off the coast,” Assistant City Manager Hilda Fernandez told the Miami Herald. “It's in the middle of a very busy bay. You can't go filming pornos in public parks.”
Attorney Lawrence Walters, representing RealityKings.com, says, “No harm, no foul!” He and his clients claim no one aside from cast and crew was on or around the island to see them. And according to Walters, public indecency laws only apply if there's someone to make a complaint.
