(Editor’s Note: Don’t miss Laura's recent short story collection, “The Catalyst”.)
Laura Antoniou writes hot erotica—just my type of kinky D/s stories. Since she’s a good pal of mine, some times I can get the goods hot off the press. Recently we snuck out of Thunder in the Mountains, a BDSM event in Denver, to eat meat and drink beer in a tourist trap restaurant filled with taxidermied animals. Taking advantage of her meat stupor, I wrangled an interview out of her, just for you.
Are you an erotica writer, smut writer, pornographer or something else entirely?
I claim the title of pornographer because I believe people use other terms disingenuously. Often erotica simply means “a sex story I like,” while pornography means “sex stories those degenerates over there like.” It’s all the same to me—sexually explicit work intended for adults. My Marketplace series is a set of lengthy novels with expansive plot and character development, and that makes it different from, say, “Trucker Boys in Bondage.” But we’re both pornography.
You are best known for The Marketplace series; tell me a little about it.
The Marketplace series has five books right now, and I am working on the sixth. It is about a “real life” slave training and selling society, SM and DS plus drama, romance and the usual fiction embellishments. They have been out of print for a little while. Right now, The Marketplace, book one, is out in paperback and as an e-book – The Slave, book two, is coming out in September 2010. The others will appear steadily as my new publisher sets them up, and then The Inheritor, book six, will be out next year. The MP world is like the one I love in—people of all colors, body sizes and shapes, genders and orientations populate it and frolic and intrigue and get it on in many different combinations. Plus, I get to play with themes of dominance and submission, responsibility, passion, ownership, slavery, all sorts of good stuff.
Would you share with us a particular hot passage. I want to get my readers hot and bothered.
This is from The Inheritor, the novel I am working on now. One of the characters involved was introduced in book three of the Marketplace series, The Trainer.
Michael came home mid-day to find his wife in bed with another man. He sighed theatrically and said, “Felix, don’t you have a home to go to?”
Claire opened her eyes slowly and gripped Felix by the back of his hair, keeping his attention between her legs. He made a slight muffled sound that might have been a moan, a sigh or some sound of affirmation, and kicked up one leg a little, waggling a foot at Michael’s position by the door. Michael gave a short chuckle as he began to doff his clothing, keeping his eyes on the charming vignette before him.
“Am I so late you started without me?”
“No, but I was early,” Claire murmured, stretching a little and arching her hips up to encourage more enthusiasm from Felix. “Conrad actually made it through the taping without a single re-shoot, and I took off as soon as Maryann gave it the go-ahead for editing.”
“Good for you! Good for Conrad. Maybe he got lucky last night, and it lowered his normal stress levels.” Michael looked at the array of toys available. Claire, as usual, was a minimalist. But he’d be damned if a slave was gonna come over and go down on his wife without paying for it. Maybe Felix hated them. Or maybe he loved them and it would spur him to greater feats of oral gymnastics. Either way, it was a no-lose situation.
He stopped again to admire the scene. Claire’s fans would probably all drop dead of shock if they saw her like this. Her stunning deep golden hair with undertones of amber normally swept below her shoulders in well-ordered waves that caught the studio lights just enough to give the technicians a challenge. Now, it was strewn all over the fat pillows in orgasmic disarray, more like a thistle than a halo. Her studious interviewing face, the empathic story-telling version, and the cheerful filler-story version were all welcomed in millions of American homes as the bearer of import and entertainment. This nearly feral, aroused and selfish look would probably frighten them as much as the sudden appearance of a werewolf in her place.
God, how he loved her. All the parts of her. The wave of passion and arousal through his body made his cock jump and he flicked the cane once in the air to let the swishing sound alert Claire more than Felix. She slitted her eyes open again and grinned as she took hold of Felix’s hair again in one tight hand.
Without a word, Michael snapped the cane down across Felix’s ass, neatly aimed at bisecting the crack, the instant mark making a notable cross in his flesh. Felix yelped into Claire’s tangle of public hair, and Claire sighed happily. “Oh, yes, that’s much better,” she growled happily, rocking her shoulders against the pillows.
“Of course it’s better. Slavemeat like this needs a little ass-warming to perform well. Don’t you, Felix?”
The answer, if it was an answer, came out as nothing more than muffled noises as Michael began to lay one neat stripe after another on the curve of the slave’s ass, effortlessly making a series of white red lines of pain. He amped up the pain as well, making sure to cover the same area more than once and hitting harder when his wife began to draw long and ragged breaths. It was only when Felix started to almost scream that Claire’s breaths shortened and her grip tightened.
“Yes, oh, yes, Michael, beat that ass, make him scream, God, yes…like that, yes, Michael, oh God, yes!” She arched up again, bucking, and Michael gripped the back of Felix’s neck and added his own strength to Claire’s as she came, keeping the slave’s mouth pinned into place as she thrust against them both. As Claire’s orgasm subsided and she sank happily back down to the bed, Michael jerked Felix’s head back and slapped him across the face, the wetness of his wife’s pussy spread all over the slave’s cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. “Lucky son-of-a-bitch slave, huh, gets to come over here and pleasure my wife? Think you’d get out of here before you took some dick, too?”
Wow… What’s that scene about?
Michael and his wife Claire are having what you’d call a date night! Even in my fantasy world, married partners are busy and sometimes need to set aside time to borrow a slave and enact a hot scene of faux-jealousy. It’s one of the ways I show that no matter how much I write a fairy tale, it’s a fairy tale about people who at least sound plausible.
Do you ever receive action or content suggestions from your readers? Do you ever incorporate them into your stories?
Readers often try to tell me their personal stories and expect me to write about them, but why would I do that? I tell them, it’s YOUR story, you write it. But occasionally, I do ask my readers for suggestions, and once, a suggestion came to me that was so outrageous to me I had to stop and ask myself, Could I write that? And the next thing I knew, I had a short story. I can see that happening again.
What’s coming out next/now/soon?
Right now, my focus is on getting all of the Marketplace books back into print. My new publisher, Circlet Press, is putting them out as paperbacks and as e-books in multiple formats, so people can get them for their Kindles and other book reading devices. As each book goes into production, it is being copyedited—again—and I am writing new short stories just for the e-book editions, too. This takes time; I hope to have the first three books out before Christmas 2010, and then The Academy and The Reunion in early 2011. At the same time, I intend to finish up The Inheritor for release next year.
In terms of sex and kinky stuff, what percent of what’s you’ve written have you done yourself?
Hmm! I have written very little that I have not ever even watched. What have I done? Well…quite a bit. I’ve been blessed with an interesting, sexy adult life, with partners suited to my areas of exploration. I’d say I have at least tried about 80 percent of what I write about, and witnessed or researched what’s left, including things I can’t experience, like how it feels to have a cock and set of balls teased and tormented.
You’re on the cutting edge of e-Book erotica. How do you like it? How is it different for you and your readers than writing for the classic paper book form?
I have to admit, e-books mystify me. I have a severe book fetish! I like to hold a volume in my hands, dog ear pages, see familiar text and cover illustrations. When I have to read a lengthy document on my computer I feel cold, not connected to it at all. But people who like their little e-reader things LOVE that they can carry, like 1000 books on something the size of a notebook. Parents can hide their porn from kids, students can take it to class, and anyone can read it on a train or plane without nosy people seeing what they are reading. So, I like being able to offer this option, even though it’s not something I have yet jumped on personally. Just for fans who will buy the e-book editions even though they already own the paperbacks, I am writing a new short story that is just available in the e-book form.
Where can people find your work and info on your various projects?
I have a website, www.Lantoniou.com—my publisher can be found at circletpress.com I am also on Facebook and Fetlife and Livejournal as Laura Antoniou—I know, I’m so hard to find!
