In April of last year, the media was abuzz about Lisa J. Murphy's new book Tactile Mind, which she created on thermoform plastic for the blind. What kind of book is it, you ask? Why, it's a porn rag! Of sorts.
Murphy decided the adult market is unfair to the blind, being mostly visually oriented, and created her own ($225) pornographic book in braille which includes 17 handmade pages that Murphy prints on her own thermoform machine. The pages are raised forms of naked men and women accompanied with descriptions in braille.
Murphy hinted at a more graphic book in the future featuring couples, but hasn't started on it yet. So to stoke the fires of anticipation, she's released a smaller series. Tactile Atelier Bookmark, which is intended to literally be a placeholder until she completes her next published work. It consists of four pages, done in the same sexy style; only this time, Murphy wanted to display the female form in sexy lingerie.
And display it, she has. This reporter finds herself wishing she still remembered how to read braille ... or had an extra $100 lying around the house.
