Long-distance relationships are always difficult. Without any sort of physical contact, it can be easy to feel lonely, no matter how often you and your partner communicate. However, there are many things you can do to feel a little bit closer to your significant other, even when he/she is hundreds of miles away.

Oh what a great article! I loved this. I've read articles with tips on how to do long-distance before, but nothing this unique and personal. I really enjoyed how you shared the things you and your own partner do. I thought the webcamming and sleeping with them on was so sweet! This is full of really great ideas that you don't read everywhere else. Great job! I'm hoping to see more articles from you.

I was in a long distance relationship with my husband prior to us marrying, from 2007 to 2010 after he returned from his year in Iraq. We only got to see each other once or twice a year for at most two weeks at a time. Most of our communication was done on the phone when he was stateside and over the internet when he was in Iraq. We never had a real relationship until after we got married because when we started dating he was in the reserves and three months afterwards he went active and moved to Texas, we are both originally from Pennsylvania. I can say that honestly, you have to be more upfront and trustworthy and willing to sacrifice sleep and sanity to keep it going. Then after you decide to move in together the learning curve starts all over because you may have known them well enough over the distance but when you live with someone it is a completely different thing. If you love them enough it will work itself out.

I have been in a long distance relationship for almost 5 years now. Things are a lot different in a LDR then in a physical one. You have to be creative. You have some great ideas here. I did a post on my website on Valentine's Day but the things I listed would work anytime. You can check it out here [https://www.theshakerofsalt.com/2013/01/long-distance-relationship-valentines.html] . Good luck to you.

I really want to figure out how to watch stuff through skype together. we have a netflix account we share, would be great to watch together. it does allow us to both be signed into and use the netflix account. netflix, skype, and planning trips are all a big help. also we surf together while skyping and talk about stuff on eden and other sites, sending each other links to check out.
