Make It Only About You
One of the nicest things about going on vacation is leaving behind the normal hustle and bustle. So, if you want a vacation at home you should do this too. Turn off your internet, so you cannot get emails. Unplug your phone, so people cannot contact you. If you are really worried about missing a call leave one cell phone on, but put it to silent. If it is really important they will leave a voice message. Put away the bills, put away everything. Just make it only about you. If it is something you would respond to if you were on a Caribbean beach then you are allowed to respond to it. If you would not respond to it, then you are not allowed to respond to it for the weekend. One of the best parts of vacation is it lets you focus only on your partner. You can devote all your time and attention to them. So on your staycation do the same thing. Make it all about them. Tell friends and family you are having a weekend get-away (which will be true, because you are getting away…it just happens to be at home). When you focus on each other I find you just have a good, relaxing time.
Cook
One of my favorite parts of going away is having something new and tasty. So, take the time to cook something new and exciting. Making things like pad thai, spring rolls, duck sous vide, can actually be quite cheap and exciting. Since you have decided to spend time on each other, you have time to cook now. If you are only spending time on yourself, it is a lot easier to take an hour or two to prepare a fantastic meal. I find that food can really put you in a good mood. After you have just eaten something delicious, you can really get in the mood. Something I personally do with my girlfriend is eat our appetizer, then go have sex, then eat our entrée , then go have sex, then eat our dessert, then go have sex and snuggle. By spacing out the meals, it becomes a lot easier to have sex without getting a bunch of cramps because your belly is fully. If you only want to have sex once, I still think it works great after an appetizer. Or cook a favorite of your partner’s. Good food really just adds to a vacation, and I think you can cook at home. It actually is pretty easy if you take your time, even if you are new to it.
Mix A Drink
One of my favorite parts about going to Mexico are the drinks. Who doesn’t love a tequila sunrise, a pina colada, or a slushie with vodka in it. The drinks just bring tropical thoughts to mind and warm me up and get me excited. So make some of these drinks. Spend a little bit of cash on fruit, mixes, and alcohol to really add to your staycation. If you do not drink alcohol, you can still makes lots of tropical drinks like a Shirley temple, or just skip the alcohol, but make the drink the same. A virgin margarita tastes great. A drink really facilitates conversation. When you sit back and relax and just sit with someone you can really start talking. If you want a beach experience, pull out some sun bathing chairs and sit with each other and just chat. Who cares where you are. Put on sunglasses, a hat, and wear beach clothes to make it authentic. Pull out a paddling pool and fill it with water to dip your feet in, Recreate anything you can that could be found where you might want to go. Again this just adds to the ambiance and the adventure.
Get Some Sun
Now that summer is approaching, go outside and get some sun. It feels great to just sunbathe outside for a bit. Pull out some towels and throw them on your grass or you deck. Put it beside your paddling pool and if you start to get too hot, you can dip your feet or splash some water onto yourself. Lots of people often do not have time to spend an afternoon lounging around in the sun, so making time for it can feel luxurious and fun.
All of these ideas are focused around getting that romantic Caribbean/Mexican/any hot place get away, because people often associate that with sitting in a cabana with a partner all day and having sex whenever they want. I think that all comes from relaxation and creating an intimate setting. And I think all of the above suggestions can help with that.
