Beach Day
Spend a day on the beach. Take out some towels and enjoy the summer sunshine. Go for a walk on the beach and make a path of footsteps. Chase the tide in and out if you are at the ocean. Go for a popsicle or ice cream or some other cold treat to cool off. Build a sandcastle, bury someone in the sand. Make designs in the sand. Go pick sea glass or seashells or look for local marine wildlife. All of this can be fun. Play some beach volleyball. Go for a run in the sand. Watch the sunset. Go for a ride in a boat. Pull out your surfboard and hit some waves. Do whatever you enjoy at the beach. Bring lots of water and sunscreen so you do not get dehydrated or sunburned.
Coffee Date
There is something fun about going to a small café or coffee shop for a date. They always smell amazing. I am not a huge coffee fan but I love the smell of coffee. Find someplace that makes home baking and order a piece of carrot cake, have a muffin, or get some cheesecake. Super tasty and delicious. It’s a great way to catch up on each other's lives and spend some time together. It is also quite cheap. A coffee date can last a couple hours as you get wound up in each other yet cost under 10 dollars for 2 beverages and a dessert. There is just something fun and quaint about coffee which makes it a great place to have a date.
Grub Crawl
This is a fun experience. Go to three restaurants for a meal. Go to one for an appetizer, one for an entrée, and one for a dessert. It is like a pub crawl but instead of alcohol you try different foods at each place. Mix and match a bunch of interesting places. Book reservations ahead of time to prevent wait times. This is a great way to have all your favorite food and dishes in one night. Or to try a bunch of new places, and if you do not like one you have two more to make up for it and get full on food. It is just lots of fun to travel around town to the best places for food. After your romantic dinner, head home for a nice relaxing glass of wine.
Theme Park
Go to a theme park and ride the rides all day. Get a pass and ride the roller coaster again and again. Go take funny photos. Watch some live entertainment. Eat corn nuts, elephant ears, and all other tasty foods that remind you of your childhood. Take a romantic ride on a ferris wheel. Just spend the time acting like a kid and enjoying a bunch of rides. Go on a log ride and get wet. Have a bumper car battle. Walk around and see all the cool stuff they have. A theme park or amusement park lets you relive some of your childhood memories and just be goofy and messy and that can be lots of fun.
Skydiving
This is an activity for those of you who are brave and adrenaline junkies. Most often you need to book this in advance and it takes a weekend, because there is a component that is a class as you need to learn all the safety precautions. I think this makes a great anniversary date where you can really push your comfort zone a bit. It can be scary and terrifying, but lots of fun. If you are the first one down make sure to take photos of your partner as he or she is landing. Lots of times you can jump more than once for just a small fee. Take advantage of that. If you are scared of heights, this is likely not a good option, but for others this is a great activity that will really scare you out of your wits but also fill you with pride and excitement when you are done.
GeoCaching
This requires a GPS and some small tokens. You go around on a treasure hunt basically finding where people have hidden stuff. Once you find it you take something out of the box they hid and put something back. It really does feel like a treasure hunt and is a lot of fun. Read up on the spots before you go. Sometimes they have been abandoned or lost and no longer exist. A GPS can be pricey, but lots of people find this to be a really enjoyable experience. It is also a great couple's activity because it is a lot easier to find the geocache when you have two people looking at the same time. You can get apps for your phone, but sometimes they do not work as well as a real GPS.
