Plan A “Getaway” Night
Put on a movie and match the menu to it. If you’re watching a movie set in Italy, then pull out the wine and pasta. Watching a karate movie then make stir fry or order some take out. You can put up some decorations, put a photo behind a window, dress to match the movie, or learn a couple of new words. Anything to make it more of an authentic vacation. Or you can learn a new cultural tradition when it comes to relationships. Learn how another culture kisses, or hugs, or commonly has sex.
Pick A Small, Intimate Restaurant
Take your partner to a restaurant with small tables. Find a table located in the back away from everyone else (as much as possible) and have a romantic date night. Get close to each other. Feed each other food. Order dishes to share. Get a nice bottle of wine. Indulge on dessert and spend lots of time touching each other on the arm and leg, some short kisses, and enjoy the experience.
Spa Day
Book a day at the Spa. Each pick something you think you will like. This can be expensive, but it can be a great way to spoil each other. The other great part is you have to spend the day together. There are no excuses or chores keeping you apart when you are at the spa. Enjoy getting your nails done, wrapped in seaweed or whatever else you want. Also, guys who are unsure, this can be a lot of fun. It might seem “unmanly” but who cares? You are just spending the day with your partner and you will likely enjoy it a lot. You likely will feel refreshed afterwards and full of energy again.
At Home Spa Day
Plan a Spa Day but do it at home. Pull out the nail polish, the nail clippers, your facial masks, your massage oil, some scented candles, and pull out any products you have that might be at a spa. Take turns giving each other things you would get at a spa. Paint her nails for her and massage her back. This is a great way to get up close and personal and really show each other how much you care. If you have a suggestion for your partner, now is a good chance to suggest it. Offer to wax her legs, or armpits, or her genitals. Get him to trim his chest, get him a close shave, or whatever else you might want. This is a great way to still have a relaxing spa day, but save some extra cash.
Canoe or Kayak
If you own a canoe or kayak, take it out to a lake or a river. If you do not own one, then try and find a place that will let you rent one. Spend the day on the water. This can be a great activity for building communication. Learn to go fast in a canoe by paddling at the same time and working together. Make sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen as this can be a physically demanding activity. Take time to sight see your local wildlife, take photos, splash a bit, and just enjoy the day.
White water Canoe or Kayaking
For a variation on the above, learn to do some white water kayaking or canoeing. This will be a bit more intense and for the adventurous people. If you are going to do this, prepare to get wet, swamp a couple of times, and be challenged. This is a difficult activity but can be a lot of fun.
Camping Trip
Pull out the tent, pick a spot and go camping. This is a great way to get away from your busy life. There are no phones or email when camping. Build a fire, cook marshmallows and smores on the open fire. Cook some hotdogs or burgers on a grill. Just spend some quality time outdoors. Look at the local wildlife. Enjoy pitching a tent together and sleeping close together. For a really intimate experience, share the same sleeping bag (if you can). Chop firewood, cut a tree down, learn to tie some knots, or identify plants and birds. There are tons of activities you can do outside.
Go Hiking
Go on a hike. Find a nice trail and spend some time together climbing a mountain, following a river, or a stroll in the countryside. The fresh outdoors is great for a new change of pace. Make sure to bring lots of snacks and water for when you want a break. Sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, and a rain jacket are also good to bring. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes, because no one likes blisters and sore feet. For a bit of a different experience, hire a guide to lead you around. You can practice map reading skills, using a compass and communicating with each other. There is just something about a warm summer day hike alone that is really intimate and close and fun.
