Pros
Great G-spot curve, 4 vibration speeds, easy to use.
The Lucid Dream no. 42 by Doc Johnson is a traditional but girthy G-spot vibrator. It is a 7 inch, contoured, PVC Jelly shaft with a perfect G-spot curve and it is firm but flexible all at the same time. The blunt tip does wonders hitting the G-spot as well as some warm up clitoral fun.
It is waterproof and very easy to use. Solo play is grand with it and partner play is better. For women trying to find their G-spot it is perfect. The size and shape are just right for sliding right into place.
It is a very quiet toy. Under blankets it could barely be heard at all, even on high. Behind a closed door I did not hear it at all.
It does not have a flared base so anal play with this toy is not recommended.
The Lucid Dream No. 42 is made from PVC Jelly. It is smooth, rather tacky, and it stunk to high heavens coming out of the box. A really yucky type of plastic smell like you would smell from those fake barbies at the Dollar Store. I gave it a couple of good washes, and the smell started to dissipate but did not completely go away. I even left it out int he open to air out and it is still rather stinky. For the material smell, texture and porosity, I am dropping a star.
It is rather flexible and has some give. It is also bigger than what I had expected. But the good bigger. I had done the true size on the page for it and in comparison it is a good inch longer and about half an inch wider.
Because of its sticky texture, it has some serious drag. Not a whole lot of fun on the girly bits without lube but PVC Jelly is happy with water or silicone based lube. I did find with water based it took quite a bit. It seems to just sort of bead off. Silicone would probably be the best but sadly, I have run out.
The design of this toy is pretty cool. It is a contoured shaft with a curved tip in firm but squishy PVC Jelly. It has a great girth of 1 and 5/8 of an inch so you don't have to do a whole lot of moving it around to find the spot and keep it there.
It is listed as 6 inches of insertable but I barely used that. Depending on how high your G-spot is, (for most women 1-2 inches up on the belly wall and swells after a few good orgasms. Feels like a spongy walnut) you will probably be the same. That gives it a lot to hold onto though so the control is great. I would certainly list this as a toy for anyone from beginner to more advanced toy user.
It is corded and attaches to the small hand held remote. The remote is round and fits well into the palm of the hand. It has 2 buttons, arrow up and arrow down and a small red light for each of the 4 levels of intensity.
It is not exactly discreet and is quite obviously a sex toy. I mean it’s pink, it has a remote and it vibrates. I think even my mother would figure that out. If tossed into a baggie, it could surely be hidden in the sock drawer.
And now, onto the fun stuff. The no. 42 has 4 levels of vibrations. There are no patterns but the vibrations are good. They come from the top of the toy, just below the curved tip but they travel well. The vibrations are pretty deep for what you would expect to be a buzzy toy.
They are controlled by the hand held remote. Pressing the up arrow turns it on to the first and lowest level. Keep pressing up to cycle up to the highest level. To go back down, press the down button and one final hit of that guy will turn it off. Really simple and each level has a small red light indicator. You insert 2 AA batteries (not included) into the bottom of the remote and screw the cap on tight to get the fun started.
I found using this toy with a slow rocking motion worked best. That slow rock brought me over the edge in no time flat.
PVC Jelly will pick up anything in its path. This includes bacteria because it is a porous material. Covering it with a condom is a must if sharing. It does contain Phthalates, so condoms all the time are a pretty good idea to avoid absorbing. Even just some cling wrap would work if you are looking for a quick fix.
This toy cannot be sanitized but washes up really well in warm water and soap, and letting it air dry. You can store it in the plastic box it came in or, if you find that too bulky, a Ziploc bag will do the trick. Just store it in something so that it does not pick up every dust bunny in your home or melt with another toy.
Follow-up commentaryI don't like it anymore3 months after original review
Too smelly, too high maintenance, too sticky. This one sat open in a box under my bed for about a month in the hopes the smell would go away. It never did. I ended up getting rid of it just a week or so ago because it is just too much to take care of. Lube soaks up quickly because of the material, it picks up everything. Just too much to deal with in the heat of the moment.
