What Were They Thinking?
The Silky G rates well for presentation, packaging, and power. Other than that, the only erogenous area it felt good on was my clitoris. There's just no universal appeal to a toy that looks like an ice-pick!

Pros
Nonporous and safe, powerful, waterproof.
Cons
G-spot tip is too pointy!
I own some other vibrators by Evolved Novelties, which I really enjoy, but the Silky G left me a bit perplexed. It's intended for G-spot stimulation, and although it does hit that spot, it didn't manage to do so comfortably for me. An advanced user prone to G-spot orgasms may be able to work this her advantage, but I would not recommend this one for a beginner G-spot toy; however, it did perform well, if not better, on other exterior body parts, such as the nipples, for shallow anal play, but especially on the clitoris.
Material & Texture
The Silky G is made of a hard, rigid plastic with a velvety matte finish that gives it just enough drag. This coating cuts down on the slickness and makes it more visually appealing than the typical shiny plastic vibrator. I noted no smell or taste either.
Safety-wise, it scores an 8 on the 10-point safety scale, so the material itself shouldn't be irritating to a material-sensitive user. It just can't be sterilized. This particular plastic is stiff, so it's not going to conform to your anatomy as well as a bendable toy would. Had it been designed with a bit softer, yet still firm material, that would have improved the feel of the pointed tip for me.
Size & Design
It's a relatively thin toy, with only a 1-1/4" diameter and 4-1/4" circumference, making it very easy to insert. Lengthwise it measures 7-1/2" inches total, so should you give up on your G-spot, there's a remaining 6" of insertability to fuck yourself with, but even that didn't feel all that great to me.
Remember the part in the movie "Jurassic Park" where one of the characters held up the velociraptor claw? Well that's exactly what this toy reminded me of: a dinosaur digit, complete with two rounded knuckles. Are you thinking what I am? How on earth can that be pleasurable? It wasn't really, at least not for me. So on this point alone, the toy loses a star.
Functions
The vibrations on this toy are powerful enough, but moderately loud. It takes two AA batteries, which are inserted in the battery compartment located within the handle. The seal is waterproof should you want to take it in the tub or shower, neither of which I can attest to, since I can't stand getting prune-like, shriveled fingers, and that certainly would have happened with this toy as long as it took me to figure out a way to use it effectively!
I'm not very fond of this style control pad, which is present on several of this company's other models. It's placed flush on the bottom of the handle and is sensitive to the touch. Several times during use, as my hand was cupped over the base of the handle, therefore coming in contact with the control button, it would suddenly shut off or change speeds. But that's really the easiest way to hold it! So until Evolved comes up with a better solution or a less touchy button, I'm knocking a star off on this point too, because there is nothing worse than being on the verge of cumming, and the darn toy shuts off.
The three escalating levels of vibrations are very good, providing a consistent, non-rattling, steady hum.
Care & Maintenance
Evolved Novelties has the nicest tin storage boxes for their toys. This particular one rests in a molded foam bed as opposed to a plastic one. I'd recommend a fabric travel pouch for discreet travel, or even a plastic bag.
The best way to clean this toy is with antibacterial soap and warm water, or even with a spray on toy cleaner for freshening it up. Supposedly plastic can be wiped with isopropyl alcohol to disinfect it, but I had trouble in the past with the velvet coating peeling off some of my toys, so I'm not even going to try that on this toy and don't recommend you do because I can't guarantee that the finish won't rub off this one either.
The Silky G is compatible with most lubes, so choose your favorite! When I used this to tease my clitoris, I didn't use much, if any, because I liked a bit of friction to help keep from sliding around too much.
Bang or Bust?
Well, I certainly didn't see fireworks with the Silky G as I was hoping for, so I can't vouch for how well this toy will work for someone else. Toy testing is really a hit or miss experiment, and this one missed for me. It won't deter me from buying from Evolved Novelties, but it will steer me clear from purchasing anything that looks like this menacing!

Experience
I spent a good hour trying to get this toy to produce an orgasm for me. Although I didn't manage to climax, I'll still hold on to it and practice a bit more, or just use it on my clit.
Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
Silky G? What Silky G? Oh, you mean the one that I turned in to a back scratcher because it's USELESS and PAINFUL in the pussy. I attempted to use it a few more times then just said "forget it!". That's advice I want to give you the rest of you. Don't bother with this one, unless you like pain.
