I loved this toy for the look, feel, and many options. It is a pricey little number but well worth the money once you have the hang of how to operate it. I see this toy being at the top of my favorites in the box for a while. The toy takes a little patience in the beginning to figure out how to get to all the pulse modes and vibration settings. It's easily charged and discreetly slim for storage. The packaging is great for gift giving as I do think this would make a wonderful gift to some.

Pros
Amazing silicone material, Natural ergonomically correct feel of the toy when held, Lots of options
Cons
Needs a stronger speed setting, Pulse-to-vibrate operation can be a bit confusing
I ordered the Zini Ran for two reasons. Reason one: I had never used a Zini product before and was curious as to what they had to offer. Reason two: I loved the way this vibrator looked like something Apple would make and have displayed right next to their latest iPod. This vibrator looks like something out of the future. Mrs. Jetson would have had one of these beside her bed. Rechargeable, ergonomically correct, smooth as silk and with many g-spot and clitoral stimulating possibilities, the Zini Ran has quickly become the favorite vibrator in my box (literally and figuratively, Ha!)
The Zini Ran can be inserted to hit the g-spot as well as using the bulbous head of the vibrator on the clitoris. There are 5 speeds and 15 program modes of varying degrees of vibrations. I would say that this vibrator can be used by some what experienced users up to very experienced users. My best recommendation would be that you have some experience with using vibrators before you graduate up to this level. Not that the design is overwhelming, but the vibration combinations might be a bit much for a novice. It took me a few rounds with this lovely thing to get the full swing of what was going on and how to work it.
This toy is a wonderful gift to yourself to be used alone or with your partner. This is also a good toy for prostate stimulation and anal play.
The Zini Ran is made from body-safe silicone with an abs plastic handle. The silicone is so velvety smooth that when you run your hand across it, to me, it feels smoother than skin. Whenever I take it out of the box, I walk around stroking the silicone because I love the way it feels in my hand. The silicone wraps around the plastic handle so that your hand is in contact with more silicone than plastic. The face of the controls are plastic and your thumb or finger fit naturally (ergonomically) into the controller slot. If placed right under
the nose, the silicone has a slight odor. However, I've used this several times since I received it and never noticed an odor. I just now stuck it up to my nose for this review and could detect a slight scent from the silicone, so it's not noticeable at all during use. Unless, of course, you like to stick them under your nose during play time, and now you know.
I think if you were a beginning vibrator user, the silicone of this toy would be very welcoming and probably spoil you from wanting to use any other sex toy material. It feels like luxury.
The design of this toy is one of the most appealing aspects! I love how it fits naturally (ergonomically) in your hand and your thumb lands into the grooved controller. The entire toy is about 8 inches long with the insertable shaft part being about 4 1/2 inches before you hit the plastic of the control face. The head is bulbous with a 3 plane wedged type surface. A small raised line running on the front of the head with two rounded lines that run down the side are on the toy. All gradually fade away as you get to the more narrow base of the shaft. The back side of the toy is completely smooth. I am a bit small, so I found the rounded, larger head a little hard to get used to when thrusting with the toy. Occasionally it felt as though it was "hooked", for lack of a better word, and I would have to tug a little to remove it.
It comes in some really great colors you don't normally see on sex toys. I got the white/cream combo because I liked the crisp clean look of it. Again, it looks like something from the Apple Store to me. It also comes in black/gold combo and black/wine combo.
This is a great toy to use externally as well. The head is well weighted so that when using it on your clitoris, the weight and the vibrations together add for great stimulation. You can use it on the smooth rounded side or on the slightly protruding side for a little more texture around the clitoris or the labia. I found it good to start from the clitoris and work my way down to insertion.
One of the really nice features of this vibrator is that it comes with a "Travel Lock" feature. If you are traveling, you can pack your Zini Ran in your suitcase, set the travel lock feature, and no vibrating suitcase for you. This will keep you out of the full body scan machine. The Ran comes with so many options it can be a little overwhelming at first and takes a little practice to get used to how it works. This is the main reason I think that this vibrator is for a more experienced user. Luckily, it comes with an instruction manual (the manual also has details for all of the Zini Vibrators, so you can look through it and see other Zini products that may interest you). It also comes with a quick "One paper easy guide for Zini. Just 5 minutes for learning" guide.
The toy comes in the "travel lock" mode so you have to unlock it before beginning. Mine had no charge when it arrived, so I had to fully charge it before playing with it. The charge takes 2 hours which equates to 2 hours of playing time. Another great feature is the visual color coding within the control panel that lets you know how charged your battery is.
Red Light 0-10%
Orange Light 10-50%
Yellow Light 50-70%
Light Green Light 70-95%
Green Light over 95%
Blue Light fully charged
I won't go into all the details of the control panel combinations because that would just take too long. But, it is a lot like playing with a video game controller. There is a + sign and a - sign as well as a o button in the middle. These can be pressed in different combinations to control the vibration's speed and pulse modes. There are 5 speeds that you use the + and - to control. The o button in the middle or pushing the + and - buttons at the same time will change the toy into pulse mode. There is an LED light under the control panel that lights up with a different color and pulse with each different mode.
The vibration can be felt in the entire toy, but the heaviest vibrations are in the head piece. It has so many options that I believe it would have something for everyone. I didn't find the vibrations reached a strong enough level for me to be able to climax quickly with this toy. Each time I've used it, even on the highest speeds, it has been a slow build to orgasm for me.
The Zini Ran package tells you to clean your toy before use. It is silicone, so warm soap and water should do the trick. Be sure not to use silicone or oil-based lubricant with your toy. You don't want it to get that sticky feeling. Yuck! Water-based lube should work just fine.
The toy is waterproof and water resistant, but it is not submersible. Getting the head wet to clean it should be fine, but no dunking it under your bath water.
It comes with a dust/storage pouch that is the same checkered pattern as the box it came in. The toy, the charger and both the small manual and the small one paper easy guide all fit in the bag. I liked the box it came in, so I keep mine in there.
I LOVE the packaging of this Zini product. I am a big fan of sex toys coming in discreet-looking boxes. The Zini box looks like something a fine piece of jewelry would come in. My box had a black checkered print with a fold-over top that has a slight magnetic closure to it. The dust/storage bag matches the box (so cute).
The user manual is a bit limited in the information it has in it. There are no explanations about the speed and pattern settings and how to achieve them. Luckily it does come with the one paper easy guide. My suggestion: DO NOT LOSE THIS GUIDE. If you are good at video games and controllers, this may be a breeze for you to figure out. If you are like me and a little challenged when it comes to electronics, you will need this guide while exploring how to use this toy. There is a lot going on in that control panel!
I think this is a great toy! It takes a few play sessions to figure out what's going on - at least it did for me. Once I had the hang of it, I couldn't wait to play with it again.
I used this toy 5 days straight trying it in different ways; inserting the head, leaving it in near the g-spot to vibrate, thrusting it, using the head to vibrate and stimulate my clitoris and labia and using it to do all of those things in one session. There is no doubt the feel and look of the toy are amazingly appealing. I am spoiled now by the velvet touch of the smooth silicone on this Zini Ran. I like all the different vibrations and pulse combinations after I figured out how to get to them all. I do wish perhaps there was one more speed that was just a bit higher for those times when I don't want a slow build but a quick fix :)
I do believe this is a toy for someone with experience in the vibrator world. I think if this were my first vibrator I might be a little intimidated by the amount of time it took me to master the control panel. But thats just me, I'm not a a good gamer!
Follow-up commentaryI still like it3 months after original review
I wish there was an "I LOVE IT MORE THAN EVER" button on these follow ups! I adore this toy for the look, the feel, the quietness and the overall quality. If you read any of my posts on the forum, you will see I'm constantly recommending it when people ask for great vibrator suggestions.
I've overcome the little catch when inserting it by tilting it downward when withdrawing (see original review for that note). The only draw back of this toy I have found is that it doesn't seem to hold it's charge as long as some other rechargeable toys I have. But, you can easily look at the LED indicator lights to let you know how much juice you have and whether you might need a precursory charge!
If you are in the market for a high-end vibrator get the Ran, you won't regret it!
