The Posh Butterfly Lover would be good as a beginner, strap-on butterfly, for someone who likes indirect, medium-strength vibrations, and doesn't mind a lot of noise coming from their pelvic area. I personally like more targeted vibrations, but my husband and I still found this toy nice to use during foreplay to tickle those sensitive areas a little bit.

Pros
Nice texture Lots of vibe functions
Cons
Did I mention it's noisy? Vibrations aren't very targeted
The Posh Butterfly Lover toy is a strap-on, butterfly-shaped, clit stimulator, which can be used alone or with a partner. First let me say that the straps did not fit me (I'm plus-sized, 3x/4x in real clothing size). I measured the leg straps fully stretched at about 36 inches, and the waist strap at about 46 inches (the box says the waist strap stretches up to 50 inches, but I don't think more than 46 would be possible. The measurements I've given require the straps to be stretched to their limit and they would be extremely tight and not very comfortable). I would recommend this for someone up to 1X as packaged. It would be easy to modify the length of the straps by purchasing elastic and sewing it together with the straps, or even by using string and cutting the elastic and then tying the ends of the string and elastic together.
The cord for the controller box is 28-1/2 inches long. I found it to be a little shorter than would be ideal, but still workable.
The toy is very loud! Distractingly loud. It doesn't get any quieter with pressure or when it is in place with the straps. All of the speeds and functions are loud. Loud! Loud! It might be a butterfly, but it buzzes like a swarm of angry bees. It would definitely be heard through a closed door. It might even be heard by a neighbor inside their house if you were to wear it while mowing your lawn...
The vibrating butterfly can be used during foreplay as a handheld stimulator, during solo sessions with or without a dildo/insertable vibrator, or during intercourse. None of the toy is able to be inserted vaginally or anally. Due to the loud noise it makes, it wouldn't be appropriate for use as a discreet vibe in public.
The butterfly stimulator is made of silicone, rated 10 out of 10 on the Edenfantasys material safety scale. The straps are made of polyester and could be easily hand-washed or probably even thrown in the washing machine in a lingerie bag to keep them from getting lost or tangled in the machine. The control box and strap hooks are ABS plastic, and the snaps on the straps are nickel-free iron.
There is a slight chemical/plastic odor when the toy is first taken out of the box, and it still smells about the same after a couple of weeks. It's not strong or too unpleasant, although I'm not really sensitive to smells unless they're really strong.
The butterfly is about 3 inches from top to bottom, including antennae, and about 3-1/4 inches across. It is about 1-1/4 inches tall, from "stomach" to back, over the largest bullet area. The top side that is meant to be against your body has little bumps on it, which I didn't feel at all, but I do think they help keep it in place during sex. It has two antennae, which are not firm enough to give much, if any, stimulation.
The silicone is medium-soft in texture, with just a little drag, and thick around the bullet area, so there is some "give" when you squeeze it.
There are no protrusions on the butterfly - the body and head are mostly smooth, and even though I was using my hand to hold it, I found it very difficult to get any targeted vibes to my clit area at all. I would recommend this toy for someone who likes diffuse vibrations over the whole vulva area rather than targeted clit vibrations.
The control box for the Posh Butterfly Lover is a plastic box (3-1/2 inches by 1-1/2 inches) that the cord from the butterfly plugs into. This is interchangeable with other California Exotics items (see links below for some of them). It takes 2 AA batteries. There is a button on the top that turns on the vibrations, and a "trigger button" on the bottom that changes the intensity/functions of the vibes. One nice thing about the controller is that when you turn it off, it "remembers" the last setting you were on, so you don't have to cycle through all of the functions to get back to your favorite.
The toy has 10 functions:
1. Strongest steady vibrations
2. Medium-strength steady vibrations
3. Weakest steady vibrations
4. Escalating bursts
5. Low slow bursts
6. Stronger, faster bursts
7. Fastest bursts
8. Medium long pulses
9. Stronger long pulses
10. Softer deep pulses
The vibrations are buzzy, medium in strength, and a little above average in my experience for toys of this type. You do feel them but they aren't the "Incredibly Intense Power" that is advertised on the box. I need medium-intensity vibrations and this toy doesn't do it for me, but it would probably be adequate if I could target the vibes more to my clit area. It does feel nice for foreplay.
This silicone toy should not be used with silicone lube, and should be stored away from other silicone toys. It isn't waterproof and cannot be immersed in water to clean, so it should be wiped with a cloth and alcohol or toy cleaner. There is one area of concern regarding cleanliness. On the bottom of the butterfly where the wire attaches, there is an open hole down to the bullet about 1/2 inch across and 1/4 inch deep, which could allow fluids in and wouldn't be easily cleanable. I wasn't able to remove the bullet to clean the inside. A cleaning cloth probably wouldn't get this area as clean as some would like.
The toy comes sealed in a plastic bag, inside a standard California Exotics cardboard box. The box isn't sturdy enough to hold up for long as a storage box. There is a small paper instruction sheet that shows how to install the batteries, gives battery warning notes, and has a very tiny illustration of the vibration patterns.
Even though this vibrator doesn't fit me as intended and the vibrations aren't as targeted as I would like, it is still a fun little toy to use to spice things up a bit. I will definitely use and experiment with it more.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it1 month after original review
We still occasionally use this for foreplay, but as feeling like it's getting clean enough is an issue, I don't grab for it as often as I would if it was easier to take care of (if it didn't have that hole on the top).

This wouldn't work out for me I need pinpoint stimulation and there isn't enough power

*Camoprincess* - Yeah, I'm with you on that. it's basically just a foreplay vibe, or might be nice for someone just starting out, or new to experimenting with couples' toys.
