This little vibrator didn't leave me aflutter

The Venus Butterfly was not the toy for me. Its intended use provided little to no stimulation and I resorted to using my hands. It may be pretty but I'd rather use a bullet and save myself the hassle.

The Shane's World Venus Butterfly|Shane's world venus butterfly arrived at my door and I was eager to use it. I gave it a quick once over and was surprised at how small the box was. Of course, the Venus Butterfly is a smaller clitoral vibe and I was satisfied with its size one I removed it from the box (which had the typical, tacky image of a porn star sporting the harnessed vibrator). I was interested in a new type of vibrator|Types of vibrators and the Venus Butterfly seemed promising; images showed a pretty, butterfly shaped clitoral vibe which can be used completely hands free. What could go wrong? Unfortunately, things did go wrong.

When I had time, I inserted batteries into the pink remote/battery pack (also shaped like a butterfly wing) and set to figuring out the straps. The instructions were poor and it was obvious that they were the mass printed type that are packaged with many toys and do not actually tell you anything about the toy you have.

From the images, I had assumed there were 4 straps, 2 that when around each thigh. I was faced with 3 long straps of baby pink elastic material and 3 short straps; it was not obvious at first that the short ones were meant for attaching to the others (they seemed like extra fabric)! The little bit of actual information on the box confirmed that one long strap went around the waist and there was 1 loop for each thigh. I was then able to complete the 3 loops by hooking the shorter straps through hooks on the longer ones. The straps did feel soft and comfortable at this point. I was perplexed as to why this product was not manufactured with complete loops. Why make the consumer do this and what's the point of this at all if there's only one logical set-up for the straps? I wound up unhooking the straps and reconnecting when I was ready to put on the harness. The straps were comfortable and the adjusters (like the ones on bras) meant the straps would work for a variety of sizes. I noticed that almost immediately, one of the straps was fraying. I doubt the stretchy material would hold up well over time.

The vibrator itself is a little butterfly, the wings of which I positioned over my labia. I nestled the nose inside my labia but was really not able to position it so that it would stimulate me well. The butterfly has a little tail that aligns with the vagina and sometimes perineum. Also, the belly and wings have some ribbing to give a little more texture. I turned it on from a switch that is a little difficult to find on the remote - and immediately turned it all the way up because I could tell the lower settings would do nothing for me. For the size of the bullet, I would expect more power. I could tell this toy wasn't going to do the trick without some intervention on my part. In order to get the butterfly in the right position to stimulate my clit the way I needed, I needed to use my hands, thus negating the entire purpose of this being a strap-on toy.

A toy such as the Venus Butterfly will work best with specific shapes and sizes and I guess I just don't fall into that realm. When the butterfly's nose was positioned against my clit, the tail did nothing for any other part. When the tail was stimulating me, the nose was nowhere near my clit. I thought the body was a little wide, but too short, and perhaps the nose and tail could be larger to stimulate a bigger area but I liked the size of the wings.

The Venus Butterfly seemed to become quite warm when I was using it. Afterward, there was even a scent similar to that of burning. This was just another indication that this vibrator is not top of the line. While this little toy is very cute (and also very girly; it could be sold next to Barbie) and the straps were adjustable and soft, it was not the right size/shape for me and I found it to be lacking in quality and power.
Follow-up commentary
Shane's World Venus Butterfly had such a lackluster performance that I tossed it in a box and forgot about. I literally saw no good reason to pull it out for over a year when I decided just to give it another try for the sake of review. The frayed straps looked ridiculous but it hadn't melted. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), it had died. I had stored it in a cool, dry place, without batteries so I guess my initial concerns about quality were dead on!
