The Vibrator's Infinite Playlist

Love music? Love sex? Meet the best of both worlds. The NaughtiBod responds to the beat of your music, creating a world of beats and patterns that is untouched by any other brand. It doesn't respond quite as I'd expected, but it's an awesome experience nonetheless. The vibrations are on the lower side and the sound is on the higher side, but it's worth it to be able to meld the world of sex and music together.

Use

NaughtiBod combines a love a music and a love of sex into one lovely package. It's innovative technology responds to the beat of music by hooking up to mp3 players from the cords that are included in the packaging. According to the main page, you can even hook a guitar up to it. It even has an iApp for those so inclined. It comes with some preset vibration patterns as well. Those with a deep love of music should take a look.

NaughtiBod runs on the thinner and smaller side of vibrators, but can be used both internally and externally. It can be used on any erogenous zone that you might like vibrations that move with your music. It is not flared at the end though, so it is not a toy to be used anally.

Naughti can be used for both solo and partner play. It can even add a new dimension to partner play if your partner makes a special playlist for you. That's so much better than a mix tape of mushy songs, don't you think?

Note: I got this from my credit card company using points. Because they are light years behind in the sex toy world, they only stock the Naughti 1.0. I still really wanted to do this review, but there have been some improvements made in the 2.0 version. I'll try to notate them in this review to the extent of my knowledge, but I just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that what you get from Eden will be slightly different from what I have here. I also won't knock any points off for things that irritate me that have since been improved.

Material / Texture

Naughti is made of plastic, bringing it in at an 8 on the saftey scale. The main page classifies it as "velvety." It's no silicone, but for plastic, I gotta say, it's on the softer side. It's rigid like plastic always is, but feels like there is a coating on it so you're not getting the typical cold, hard plastic feel. It's a much more supple feeling than I'm used to getting with a plastic toy. Big plus here for me as sometime I find plain plastic a bit too unforgiving. I think this a plus for beginners as well who might have the same issue. Advanced users who like a little softer feel will also appreciate the smoother feel of Naughti's plastic. There is no smell or taste to Naughti's plastic, even when just opened.

The plastic itself is smooth, but Naughti features waves along the body for added stimulation. They are subtle but something you will be able to feel when inserted. I'm one that's pretty sensitive to ridges and I found the waves on Naughti to be very pleasurable. They don't come up too high and don't get caught on my pubic bone as some ridges can do. Naughti also bulbs up at the tip. This once again is very slight - something you will be able to feel when you insert it but nothing that even the most sensitive of users should find uncomfortable.

Beginners should have no problems with the added stimulation. Those who like deeper ridges and a lot of texture will probably be a bit disappointed. While I can feel the waves, it's very light stimulation. This is perfect for me, but might be a turn off for more advanced texture users.

Design / Shape / Size

Naughti comes in at a total length of 6 inches, of which 4.5 is insertable. It is 1 inch in width. As always, I look at the stock pictures and forget to read the specs so I expected this to be a little bigger than what it actually is. If I hold my hand completely extended, it fits from my fingertip to the end of my hand. It's certainly not on the larger side of vibrators and size queens should probably look to some of the Freestyle vibrators that have some larger size options available. I tend to like mine on the mid to smaller end, so this ended up working out for me just fine.

Beginners will likely be pleased with the size, as well as advanced users who like mid to smaller range toys. I'm glad the smaller size was offered so that those who are more keen on this size are able to experience the awesome technology of the Naughti.

The design is pretty simple. It's not realistic looking, but it is your typical phallic shape. I'm pretty sure everyone will know this is a vibrator, so it's best to keep this one hidden away if you don't want people asking questions. Personally, I think it's such cool technology that I don't even care if people ask just so I can show them how nifty it is. If you're not as keen on people being into your sex life as I am, perhaps a drawer is best for this particular toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The functions of the Naughti are really where it begins to shine. Naughti hooks up to mp3 players and vibrates in time to the music. Originally, I thought it would react only to bass. This is not the case. While it does react to bass, it also reacts to the melody of the music as well. The instruction manual says to keep the volume of the mp3 player set to 75%. I tinkered around with this a bit, and this really is very important. I like strong vibrations so at first I totally ignored this and turned it all the way up. All I got was constant vibration from every song I put on. I was really disappointed and ready to write this vibrator off entirely. When I finally decided to try listening to the instruction, I got a much better result. The bad thing here is that you're very limited to the vibration levels. There's really no way to turn them up or down without affecting the amount that it responds to the music. If you turn it down too much, it responds less. Turn it up too much, and all you get a constant buzz. Either way, it defeats the purpose. So if you don't like the vibration setting, you're pretty much out of luck.

I normally hate all thing patterns. I do, however, love all things music. I figured the two might cancel each other out. I was mostly right, and I'll discuss that more in the experience section. Either way, here you have an infinite list of patterns to choose from. Pick any song in the world and that's your pattern. If you can't find a song that works, download one of those DJ programs and make your own. If you're no good at that, download the app. If you can't do any of that, find someone with a guitar. It's virtually limitless. No longer are you stuck with five degrees of the same pulse.

On the app, you create your own patterns. It comes with a few presets, which are in addition to the presets that come with the vibrator. The way it works is that you touch the screen and each place you touch represents a different strength and pulse. You can touch in more than one place to create something different. You can save what you like for later. I took some screen shots so you can get an idea of how it works. It costs $0.99 in the App Store.

I played around with it a bit and thought it was nice, but something I'll probably never use. I really got this for the music function. I found it to be kind of a pain to sit there and fiddle with touching different parts of my screen while I was trying to maneuver a vibrator at the same time. Maybe you'll have better luck. It's pretty cool that there's an app for a vibrator, regardless.

My Nuaghti comes with two caps, which might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Luckily, that has been fixed in the 2.0 edition. Basically, in 1.0 you had to switch caps to go from music mode to the presets. Now, the presets and music mode are all in one cap. Thank goodness, because that was just plain silly. I also thought the little silver caps looked uber cheap. I haven't seen the 2.0 caps, but hopefully they look like they cost more that ten cents.

1.0 Silliness:

The presets have three steady vibration patterns. The highest of which gets stronger than you can get on the music mode, which makes me sad. It is super buzzy though. The next one is a steady quick pulse. The next one escalates from speed to speed. It stops through each speed where you can feel the jump. The next goes from slow to fast without the stops and then pulses. The next one does the same but then follows with going from fast to slow back down. Pretty unique presets, but I never use those, so I can't speak to how well they work.

The vibration level comes in at around a mid-range three. Nothing particularly special here. I wish it were stronger. I really wish there were a way to control the vibrations without messing up the functions. The vibrations are centered mostly at the tip, which is nice in case you decide you want to use this as a clitoral stimulator as opposed to an internal vibrator. Hardly any of the vibrations make it to the base. The vibrations are on the buzzier side, especially on the preset functions. Less so when used in music mode.

The Naughti is fairly loud. If I put only one of my two headphones in, I can hear it over my music. That's a little ridiculous. Can definitely be heard through covers and a closed door. If you put both earphones in, you won't hear it though. If you live alone, you can drown this out with the music.

Naughti operates with a split wire that connects to the base of the vibrator. You hook this wire into the vibrator which then hooks into the mp3 player. Then you hook the splitter into your headphones so you can hear the music. I got tangled in the wires every time I used this, but I'm really clumsy and a total spaz. I also had the problem of pulling out the main cord during use since it's connected at the base, which is where I hold the vibrator from. This was even more frustrating than getting tangled. I really don't see what could be done about this aside from making it Bluetooth compatible, but I'd hate to see the price of a Bluetooth vibrator. I'm happy to pay at this price tag and deal with a few wires rather than shell out $300 (I think) to be wireless. It would sure be cool to have that come out one day. There's a good length in the wire, so you can move them around a lot. I'm sure there's some way to work this length for lack of tangle, but I couldn't figure it out.

It runs on 2 AAA batteries, four of which are included in the packaging.

Naughti isn't waterproof, and I would venture to say not even splash proof. Now, it's likely your mp3 player isn't either, so in use it's not really a big deal. It does make clean up a pain because you have to be really careful not to get the battery compartment wet. This is why I hate non-waterproof even if I have no intention of bringing it in the water.

Care and Maintenance

As mentioned, Naughti is no where near waterproof, so don't let it even look at your sink. I clean mine by spraying it down with an anti-bacterial toy spray and then wiping it down with a dry towel. This seems to work well. You could also do the same with a damp cloth and anti-bacterial soap. Be sure that's it's damp and not soaking wet.

Naughti comes with a cute little pouch for storage. I keep mine in this, but you could easily store this in any toy storage that you are currently using. Plastic is usually easy to store.

Plastic is compatible with both water and silicone based lubes, so no worries about grabbing the wrong one when you use it.

Packaging

I think the packaging has changed a little on 2.0, but mine came in a little white box with pictures of the different color NaughtiBods on it. It looks like a brightly colored Apple-esque box. The back has quite a bit of useful information about the product and how it works.

Front:

Back:

When opened, the Naughti is displayed along with all the parts that go along with it. It comes with four AAA batteries that, get this, match the color of the vibrator. How cute is that?! It includes a useful instruction manual on getting the ideal performance out of the vibrator and how to use the different controls. It has a multitude of languages, so the thicker manual includes only about two pages of actual instructions.

Inside:

The packaging it's probably isn't great for storage, but the pouch is really adorable and perfect for holding the Naughti. Neither the box or the pouch are discreet. The box has pictures all over it and the pouch proudly proclaims "OhMiBod" on the front. No matter what you choose to store it in, if you want to keep prying eyes away, best to put it in a drawer as well.

Personal comments

I really expected this to react more to bass than melody, so I was a little sad when it reacted to both. I'm a bass freak. I get why it was done this way, because I'm sure not everyone is on a quest to blow out their speakers like I am. When I got used to how it worked, I found a lot of songs that worked really well. I didn't like that I couldn't adjust how it reacted to music or how strong the vibrations were. I also didn't like that it was at a constant mild three vrooms.

When I said I was looking at the OhMiBod series on the forums, I was advised against it. I decided to get this one because it was free and it was the cheaper of the OhMiBod series, so I figured nothing lost if it was awful. I wish I had come out of pocked on one of the Freestyles because I think those address most of the problems I have with this one. Plus I like rechargeable things.

Out of the kindness of my heart and with much hard work (haha), I put together a playlist. It's almost all dubstep and electro-house so if you don't listen to or don't know what the heck that is, well, I don't really listen to anything else so I didn't have anything other than this to test it with. Dubstep will give it more steady vibrations while electro-house will give it more of a pulse that builds up until the beat drops. I have no idea how iTunes friendly this is, as most of my music doesn't come from there. I tried to keep it to DJs I know are at least on iTunes in some fashion, so you can search by their name and at least get some tracks by them with similar results. (Insert shameless plug for DJs I like)

I built this playlist by putting my songs on shuffle with the vibrator sitting next to me (not in me). If I found something that felt like it might be good, I added it to a playlist. Then I used the playlist during actual sessions and deleted things when they didn't work. This eliminated some time spend on completely useless songs when I was trying to get off. It took a lot of time spent with a vibrator when I wasn't actually masturbating and went through a heck of a lot of batteries, but I think it was worth it in the end to have a working playlist at the ready.

I think the quality is a little on the low end and I wish it reacted just a little better to the music than what it does. I'm seriously considering getting the Freestyle because I just think it would work better for me. If it wasn't for the Coolest Orgasm Ever, I'd probably rate this three stars just based on the low vibrations, inability to change vibrations without messing with the quality, and how awkward the cords are. I'm forgiving some of the based on what you'll read in the experience section and going with four.

Experience

I'm a rave girl, in case you couldn't tell from my playlist. Give me a good party with some kicking bass and I'm close to orgasm, no vibrator requires. So when I saw these come out, despite my hatred of patterns I had to have one. What better thing could there be in the world than the combination of sex and music? My two favorite things rolled into one!

I have a hard time cumming with just vaginal toy stimulation. I can get a mild orgasm, but it's nothing big and it won't satisfy me. Here, this toy was par for the course. It didn't blow my mind, but it's nothing I can hold against it because it's really just the way I am. The waves were just the right amount to feel really good and not set my sensitivity off. Much appreciated, as I do like texture but my insides are very particular about them.

I found that if I thrusted, I couldn't feel the beat of the music as much as I could if I held it in my hand or just held it inside of me. However, if I rotated circles or moved in an up and down motion, I was able to feel the music a lot better. I ended up mostly sticking with these motions because I wanted to feel the beat of the music, since that's what I got it for.

Generally, what I end up having to do is combine clitoral stimulation with internal stimulation to get a satisfying orgasm. So after a bit of play with this toy on its own, I pulled out some of my clit vibes. I kept this inside, either on its own or moving it in circles while using my external vibrator and the most awesome thing ever happened. My orgasm beat in time to the music. I tried this over and over thinking it was in my head or a one time fluke and it happened every time. This may be the single Coolest Thing Ever. I'll forgive the fact that I was tangled in wires the entire time and that I accidentally pulled it out no less than three times in one session for that amazing experience. For a music freak like me, being able to cum in time to my favorite songs is the ultimate in music experiences. If I could bring this out with me and somehow use it in the club (I know there's the Club Vibe but it's external), I could officially die happy.

Sadly, my husband will not play with me. We listen to different types of music and he doesn't want to listen to mine and I don't want to listen to his. This then becomes a solo only toy for me. I'm pretty bummed about not being able to share this very awesome experience with him, but I'll get over it. He also thinks the cords are overwhelming and would just get in the way.
Follow-up commentary
The idea of this is pretty cool but the weak vibrations and cheap quality got to me. The fact that I get tangled in the wires doesn't help either. It was really cool to orgasm in time to the music but not worth the hassle of dealing with the cords. It's just not as high quality as other toys I have. If you're interested in a music driven toy I would maybe look into the Freestyle line instead. I don't own those but hear they are better than this one.
