The Passion G is a new massager from California Exotic's L'Amour line of toys. The name implies that it was specifically designed for G-spot use. However, it may also be used in other erogenous zones as well. My wife seemed to like it mostly for direct clitoral stimulation. Go figure. Me too! I'll explain below.

For anyone that may be interested to know, it was made in China and is labeled "sold as a novelty only." I am not a fan of cheap Chinese toys, but this is NOT one of those toys. So, I would describe it as a nice Chinese toy.

The package also warns that it is "for external use only." What the hell? External use only? It's phallic shaped, girthy, and it vibrates...powerfully, but no, don't put it inside you. Yeah right. As soon as I powered this baby up, well...I knew this was going to be a keeper. I also knew that we would be throwing caution to the wind, break all the rules, and use this beauty internally. Yep, we are a couple of freaking rebels!

The purple shaft of the Passion G is sheathed in pure silicone. It is non-porous, phthalates free, hypo-allergenic and latex free. Yep, this is the good stuff. It has absolutely no smell or objectionable taste to it at all. It is velvety smooth and has a soft, luxurious feel to it. Each end of the shaft feels harder and less forgiving than the flexible midsection. This is due to the plastic battery compartment located at the base and the vibration motor located on the opposite end at the tip of the toy. The midsection of the shaft is flexible and bendy...in a good way. There are a few slightly raised ridges along the top and both sides of the shaft. These aesthetic ridges are too small to really be felt during insertion, but they do quite effectively hide the seams that also run along the sides of the Passion G.

The Passion G measures 8 3/4" overall length. About 6 1/2" of the shaft is insertable. The round, straight shaft measures a true 1 1/2" diameter down almost its entire length. This is a good size as it feels plenty girthy and should prove satisfying to most users. There is a gentle upwards curve at the tip of the shaft, theoretically to stimulate the G-spot. I don't have a G-spot, so I played with my wife's. She was such a good sport to play along.

We have found the Passion G to be a great size for vaginal insertion, not too big and not too small. However, the 1 1/2" diameter may be too thick for some users/beginners. Additionally, some women may find the flexibility of the shaft makes it difficult to apply firm pressure on the G-spot.

It does not have a flared based, so I would not suggest using it for anal penetration.

The Passion G has multiple speed settings. There are three regular vibration settings: low, medium and high speed. There are also a few pulsating and escalating settings. The vibrations are strongest at the curved tip. I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful these settings are, especially considering how quiet the toy is, even at its highest setting. We really like the pulsating functions: short, powerful bursts of vibration. Very nice!

At the base of the toy is the control box. This houses the two AA batteries and controls the vibration functions. At first, I did not like the awkward design of the control box. The smooth hard plastic and odd shape made it difficult for me to hold and change the vibration settings with one hand, while playing with my wife. When I handed the G to my wife, we quickly discovered that it fit quite naturally in her hand. When she gripped the Passion G with her thumb resting on the control button, everything just seemed right. This allowed her to very easily switch between the various settings. I had been holding it all wrong. It was designed for a woman to hold as she used it on herself.

The control box has two buttons recessed below the surface. The first is an on/off switch. One push turns on the red back-light, but the Passion G will not start vibrating until the "7 function button" is pushed. This button is used to cycle through the various vibration functions until you find one that you like. When you are done playing ...or if you are unexpectedly interrupted, a quick press of the power button instantly turns the toy off.

The Passion G is also waterproof. It has an o-ring seal at the control unit. But be careful, the twist cap pops open with only a quarter turn.

The Passion G should be cleaned before and after each use. A simple wash with a toy cleaner designed specifically for the task, antibacterial soap, or even a 10% bleach solution can also be used for cleaning. Just be sure to rinse thoroughly with plain water afterward.

The silicone feels quite velvety and luxurious, so you'll want to take good care of it. As with all silicone toys, do not use silicone-based lubricants with the Passion G. Water-based lubes are recommended by the manufacturer. Cal Exotics also recommends removing the batteries when it is not in use. The silicone is prone to picking up lint between uses; therefore, I would recommend a toy pouch for storage. This will help keep it clean and ready for use. The pouch will also prevent incompatible toys from adhering to it and damaging the silicone.

My wife has both the Hitachi Magic Wand and the Wahl Massager, and she loves them both. Most battery-powered vibes that we have tried in the past were disappointing. So we were not really expecting much from this. But, we were both quite surprised by the amount of power put out by just two AA batteries. From the slow, deep resonating vibrations to the faster, buzzier speeds, there is sure to be a setting to please most users. We also enjoyed the multiple vibration settings.

As I stated earlier, my initial attempt at using the Passion G was not all that smooth. I found it difficult to push the control buttons while holding it in one hand. However, my wife had much better success. It fit naturally in her hand with her thumb resting on the speed control button. This allowed her to explore the various speed settings while she guided it exactly where she wanted it. Fellas, sometimes we just need to watch and learn.
