True to its word, the First Time Mini-G is an okay beginner's vibrator, and works well for women who like pinpoint g-spot stimulation. It is small, quiet and easy to clean, with a modest girth and a non-threatening design. However, the pointy hook at the end did not work for me, and if you are looking for more powerful vibrations, you should look elsewhere.

Pros
Small, waterproof, easy to clean, body safe material, quiet, battery lasts a long time
Cons
Might be too rigid for some, hooked g-spot curve pokes a little, shaft has seams
The Cal Exotics First Time Mini-G is the first toy I have ever received from the EdenFantasys review program and I was truly hoping that I would get a vibrator that is comparable to the first vibrator I ever bought: the Doc Johnson Velvet Touch. In fact, the two toys have a lot of similarities, but while the Doc Johnson vibe was a traditional vibe with a straight shaft, the Mini-G is a G-spot stimulator.
This toy was designed specifically with beginners in mind. It is quite small for it is just a little bit shorter than the length of my hand. The design is cute and non-threatening which I think would work well for anyone looking for their first vibe.
For a toy that runs on only one AA battery, the power is just what I expected and I am sure that a lot of women would find it sufficient. However, the strength isn't quite enough for me to get off. I own bullets that have more power than this vibe.
The Mini-G works best used for shallow insertion and g-spot stimulation. Since it is a mini vibrator, it is very comfortable to insert despite the fact that the curved tip tends to hook around my pelvic bone, which is a sensation that I find extremely unpleasant. It performs nicely as a clitoral stimulator as well, but the lack of power means that it might take a little longer for you to achieve orgasm.
The Mini-G is made of PU coated ABS plastic. The material ranks as an 8 in the EF materials scale, so it is quite body safe and can be used without a condom if you intend to use it for solo play. However, the material is still porous, so you should make sure that you wash it properly to get rid of any lube or soap residue. You should also use a condom over it if you plan on sharing the toy with a partner.
My Mini-G vibe came in a very pale lavender color and had no discernable taste or smell. It was very neutral which I find quite nice. The shaft is very hard and rigid, with no give whatsoever. The surface was quite smooth, but I wouldn't say that it was as soft and velvety as some of the other velvet textured toys that I own.
I also noticed that there was a seam running all around the length of the shaft which is something that bothered me. I do not feel the seam when inserted, but I do feel it when I run my finger around it. It really detracts from the velvety finish of this toy. Simply put; seams = DO NOT LIKE.
The Mini-G is comfortably small and extremely portable. The official measurements by EF are as follows:
Length: 5 1/2"
Insertable length: 4 1/2"
Circumference: 3 1/2"
Diameter: 1"
It is mostly a straight shaft with a hooked curve at the top that tapers into a rather sharp point. The point is roughly 3/8" in diameter, which I find is too unpleasant and pokey to use for efficient g-spot play. However, this could be because I simply have a preference for rounder g-spot tips because I like stimulating a large area at a time. I do believe that this would work for women who like pinpoint stimulation, or are simply use to using their fingers. I guess that if I flick the Mini-G upwards quickly, it somewhat does feel like a finger clawing at my g-spot.
The length and width is perfect however. I have a rather shallow g-spot, so I do not have to reach in very deeply to stimulate it. The 1 inch diameter of the shaft is also quite nice because it is comfortable despite the fact that this toy is so hard and rigid.
The Mini-G uses your classic dial to set different speeds. I think that this vibrator allows for a wide range of vibrations, as you can truly adjust the speed gradually to your liking. I like that the dial is easy to turn because it isn't as small or flat as the dials on some other vibrators. It is rounded with a nicely textured criss-crossing design that allows for a good grip even if your hands are slippery with lube.
The vibrations are concentrated at the upper portion of the shaft, just before it starts curving into the g-spot tip. They aren't that powerful in my opinion, but I am sure that many would find it sufficient, especially if this is their first toy.
On the plus side, the Mini-G is also fully waterproof and I had absolutely no problems using this in the shower. It doesn't seem to eat up batteries either, even though it runs on only one AA battery. I also like that it is remarkably silent which is awesome if you have nosy room mates sneaking about!
Taking care of this toy is extremely easy. Since it is waterproof, you can simply run it under warm water with lots of soap. ABS plastic doesn't absorb smells much, but it is still a good idea to rinse it thoroughly, so that you are not left with any residues.
I keep the Mini-G in a little cotton bag to keep it clean. I just make sure that it is completely dry before storage to avoid any bacterial growth or smells. I also make sure that I wash it before and after every use.
Like all vibrators, make sure that you take out the batteries first before storing your toy for prolonged periods. You wouldn't want any leakages!
The packaging was very boring. It was just a simple blister pack with a piece of cardboard mentioning the name of the toy and some of its features. It has your typical photo of a blond woman in a seductive pose at the front with a picture of the vibrator at the back.
There were no instructions included, but using it is very straight forward, so you really wouldn't need instructions. However, since this toy is marketed towards beginners, I think that a little bit of instruction or maybe some tips would be in order to make the package a bit better. Many women have a hard time looking for their g-spots after all, so I think that a g-spot tutorial would have been great.
The Cal Exotics First Time Mini-G would have been a great beginner's toy if the curved hook at the end was a little rounder, and that the vibe had a bit more power. I would say that I liked this toy, but overall, it fell a little short of my expectations.
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it1 month after original review
To be honest, the First Time Mini G is a pretty good toy. It's just that it's so so boring! It still works and looks like new, but that's because I don't really use it because it has to compete with some of my higher end toys... This is definitely a vibe that you get for your first time. But if you have several, better toys lying around, this one might just not cut it. It just gathers dust in my toybox.
