The Ellipse is a powerful, yet loud massager. With no batteries required it can be a very convenient toy. It requires 12 hours of charging before the first use, and holds its charge really well. While great for personal use, it works great as an overall body massager. This splash proof, plastic massager is travel friendly, and stores away quickly and discreetly.

Pros
Strong vibrations, rechargable.
Cons
Loud, seams that water can seep through, misleading information.
I was very excited when I received the "Durex Play Ellipse"; however it's not what I thought it would be.
The Ellipse is an external toy. This toy is perfect for people who like to lie down and not have to stretch too far, to reach the areas that you want to stimulate. There are subtle vibrations, which are good for arousal of the nipples. And some very strong vibrations, that are great for clitoral stimulation and teasing.
Anyone from beginner to expert can use this toy. It can be used alone or with a partner, and it also has a simple and very sleek design. The Ellipse is best used as a mood enhancer; to get you or your partner ready for a good time.
When I took the Ellipse out of its box there wasn't a taste, or smell. The texture is very smooth and sleek; however when you run your figure/hand across it you can feel the seams. There are no bumps, grooves, or different materials that will add extra stimulation. And with that said the texture will work for anyone, as long as you're not looking for anything extra.
The design of the Ellipse is very smooth and flowing. The slight curve in the handle is great for being able to hit the right spot, without hurting your wrist. It measures about 10in from end to end, so if you have short arms, like me, this will help you to get the pleasure you want without straining. There is no worry about the size, because it is an external toy.
It comes with a light purple travel bag; in this bag you can fit both the massager and the charging cord, if you want to. Since the Ellipse has a simple design it is very travel friendly and discreet. If someone was to ask you what it was, you could say "Oh it's my new back massager", that is if you didn't want to tell them the truth.
There are two buttons on the Ellipse; the top one turns it on, and the bottom one starts/cycles through the vibrations. They are very easy to access while using it; however since there isn't a back button you have to cycle through the vibrations if you pass the one you wanted.
The Ellipse has three vibrations:
Vibration one: A low to medium steady vibration.
Vibration two: A high steady vibration.
Vibration three: A high intensity pulsating vibration.
When you first turn on the Ellipse there is a high pitch squealing noise; and when you engage the vibrations they are quite loud (even on low). This toy can definitely be heard though a closed door, and from under the covers.
The box and instruction manual says that the massager is "splash proof"; but with the seams I'm hesitant to use it anywhere near water. I did use it, once, near water and noticed that some water was making it into some of the seams; so I used my blow dryer to dry the water before it got too far into it. On the bottom is a silicone plug protecting the charging port. It does come off easily and doesn't keep it completely sealed. So use caution when cleaning.
To care for this toy simply clean it before and after each use (and before you use it for the first time). Keep it out of direct sunlight or a damp place, and always power off after use. :)
Storage
When your toy is ready to be stored away, you can slip it into its purple pouch and place it with your other toys. The pouch is light purple, to match the toy, and is made from a very soft velvety material that doesn't attract lint (yay).
Cleaning
According to the instruction manual you can clean the Ellipse with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe, and I totally agree, you don't want to rub it down with soap and then run it under the faucet, because the water will enter the toy.
The Durex Play Ellipse comes packaged in purple plastic cylinder. Inside the cylinder the Ellipse is encased in a molded case that holds the toy, storage bag, charging cable, and instruction manual. The packaging is pretty discreet from the front; however the back has a picture and description of the Ellipse. The packaging is said to be tamper proof, but I managed to get it opened and close it back up without leaving any evidence that it was ever opened. So if you are a matriculate person you could probably do the same.
I really like the Ellipse, however personally I have found that it works better as a body massager then a mood enhancing personal massager. I get really wet and so the chances of my bodily fluids entering the toy are really high.
Also I noticed that some of the facts listed about the Ellipse, both on the site and in the instruction manual are wrong. It says that the Ellipse is seam free, and it's not; also the instructions say that it has a silicone pad to help it glide across your skin, the only silicone on the Ellipse is the plug that keeps water from entering the charging port.
And I live with my parents so a quiet or low buzz is something that I look for in a toy. This one is very loud compared to all of my other toys, so it doesn't get much use unless my family is out in town or something.

Follow-up commentaryI still like it6 months after original review
I still like the Durex play Ellipse mainly for the fact that it's rechargable. However I do wish that it was waterproof so that I may play with it both in the bed and shower. But overall the vibrations are nice, the charge lasts a very long time. It has held up well over time and the storage pouch that came with it still looks new and is working well. It is great place to store the massager along with it's charger and instructions. I still recomend this for everyone to try; just give it a chance and let it proove that it's totally worth it.
