Use

Sassy

The Charisma Sassy is a new G-spot vibe from California Exotics. It features a bulbous head for G-spot play, and a lightly textured shaft for added stimulation. The Sassy is powered by a single AA battery and provides 10 functions of vibration and pulsation. It’s also waterproof and can be taken in the shower or bath.
The Sassy is designed with G-spot play in mind, but it can also be used for external teasing of the nipples, clitoris, or anywhere you please. I do not recommend this toy for anal play because it lacks any sort of a flared base and could get lost.

Sassy’s light-up control is simple and very easy to use; beginners should be able to get the hang of it in no time.
The Sassy’s vibrations are very light and on the buzzy side. Its slender size and vibration levels would be ideal for beginners, but advanced users will probably find the size and strength lacking.

Material / Texture

The Sassy is made from a smooth and velvety ABS plastic. ABS plastic is non-porous and body-safe; the material will not harbor any harmful bacteria. Because the toy is made out of plastic, it’s totally rigid and there is no give at all.
The velvet plastic is very smooth and has no seams. The toy glides effortlessly over the skin, and there is practically no drag to the material at all.

ABS plastic is compatible with any kind of lubricant, which is a plus! With this toy you won’t have to worry about avoiding silicone-based lubes for fear of ruining it. Plastic also stores well with toys of other materials, so you don’t have to worry about them touching is storage.

Sassy Measurements

The Charisma Sassy is 5.75” long with an insertable length of 4.5”. The shaft is 3” around, and features a bulb at the tip of the shaft that’s designed to stimulate the G-spot, the bulb has a circumference of 4”.
The shaft features a ribbed texture from the middle of the shaft to the base of the G-spot bulb. The bulb itself is smooth, but not perfectly round. The front side of the bulb, which is the part that will actually come in contact with the G-spot, is flattened a little.

Sassy Battery

The Sassy is powered one AA battery that fits under the battery cap at the base of the toy. There is a clear O-ring that will keep water out of the toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Sassy is controlled by a single push-button on the bottom of the battery cap.
The ring around the button lights up and pulses in time with the vibrations, this is fun, especially if you are a visual person.

Sassy Light

This toy features a memory chip that remembers the last setting you were on last time the toy was used and it will start up at that setting the next time you turn the toy on.

To turn the toy on, press the button and the toy will turn on to your last used setting. Remember that if you unscrew the battery cap, the chip will reset and the toy will start up at the default first setting, which is the highest steady vibration setting.

I noticed that the 10 settings are the same as a similar toy I have, the Lia G Bliss. There is a paper that came with the G Bliss that has a visual guide to the patterns. This paper doesn’t come with the Charisma Sassy, but I thought I’d share it because it’s a nice visual guide to the patterns. It’s funny because the paper shows the first 3 settings as going from high, to medium, to low, which is accurate for the Sassy, but inaccurate for the Lia G Bliss that the paper came with.

Sassy functions

To turn the toy off, press and hold the button for 3 seconds.

I’ve found that this toy is a little louder than the Lia G Bliss, which is very quiet. The Sassy is probably 2 bees on the higher settings. I’ve noticed a little bit of a higher-pitched whine mixed in with the regular buzz on the lower settings. I haven’t really had this happen with any other toys I’ve owned.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

The Charisma Sassy is very easy to clean, especially because it’s waterproof. I like to spray my toys down with toy cleaner, then rinse them off in the sink. Soap and water or toy wipes also work well.

I like to take the batteries out of my toys while I’m not using them. This decreases the risk of you batteries getting drained, and prevents any damage that might come from the battery leaking and corroding inside the toy.
Of course, removing the battery does reset the memory function, but I actually prefer to reset the toy so I can start at the beginning of the settings next time I turn it on.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

Sassy Packaging

The Charisma Sassy comes in simple plastic packaging. The packaging is mostly clear and fully allows you to see the toy inside. There is some basic info on the different sides of the box, along with a graphic of the toy. I think it’s safe to say that this packaging is in no way discreet.

Sassy Box

The toy itself rests in a clear plastic tray, which slides out of the outer box. There is a slip of paper in the box that has simple instructions for battery installation and operation.
The box can be saved and used for storage because it’s fairly small and doesn’t take up very much space.

    • Not discreet
    • Very informative

Experience

Personally, I wasn’t impressed by the Sassy’s performance.
First of all, the shape and size of the toy was a little bit of a letdown for me. I love G-spot toys and I was very hopeful that the bulb on the tip of the toy would be able to provide a bit of firm pressure that I was looking for. The toy is a bit of the smaller side, and because of this, I wasn’t able curve the toy enough to get the bulb far enough forward to really hit my G-spot well.

Also, I do like texture and expected the ribbed shaft would provide a good bit of extra sensation. The ridges are so mild and so smooth that I barely was able to feel them, if at all. And the shaft is also rather slender, and wasn’t large enough to feel satisfying to me.

Another thing that I was struggling with was the reverse order of the steady vibration settings, it goes high, medium, low, and then into the other seven functions. My issue here is that I like to start off low and build to medium and then high. But if I start at steady low and want to bump of the speed to medium, I can’t just press the button once and go to the next level. Instead, I have to press the button 9 times to cycle through all the functions to get to the next highest level. I do find this to be an inconvenience.

Also, because the button is on the end of battery cap, I have found myself accidentally hitting it and changing the settings while I’m thrusting the toy.
The size wasn’t quite enough for me, but this toy will work great for the ladies out there who prefer more petite or slender toys. It also would still work well as a little travel vibe that you could throw in your luggage and take on a trip.

I did notice one more thing about the Sassy. But at the tip of toy, at the very center of the bulb, there is a tiny spot where the velvet coating appears to have flaked off. I don’t know if it’s just the one that I received or if all of them are like this.

Sassy and Lia G Bliss Comparison

As I mentioned before, I have a similar toy, the Lia G Bliss, which is also by Calex. It’s the same price, but is made from silicone instead of plastic, has a 2 button control with a dedicated on/off button, and it’s also stronger and quieter than the Sassy. Because I had a good experience with the Lia G Bliss, I was expecting a little more from the Sassy, but in the end I was a bit let down.
Follow-up commentary
So after a month I still don't care for the Sassy that much. The backwards vibration settings, the higher-pitched whine and the button on the bottom that's easy to accidentally push just aren't cutting it for me.

But..
I decided to try a little experiment. The battery cap from the Lia G Bliss is the exact same size as the one for the Sassy, so I decided to swap the caps and see what happened. I wasn't sure if it would work, but it did. Really well, actually.

The cap is where the "brain" of the toy is. The cap brought the Lia's patterns over with it, so the three steady vibration setting were now in the "correct" order; low, medium, then high. The vibrations were also stronger and quieter, and there was no more high-pitched whine. It was also nice have the 2-button control with the dedicated power button and I didn't having to worry about accidentally hitting buttons and changing settings.
I'm pretty pleased that it worked, and the shape of the toy felt a lot better with more power behind it.
I still don't care for the toy in it's original form, but it's been fun to mix and match.

Thank you for the great review. The coating flaking off sounds scary!
  • Contributor: The Vixen
Yeah, the coating is a bit of a concern, especially considering it's been so gently used. Hopefully it's just a fluke on the one that I got, but who knows.
