I've been on the hunt for the perfect rotating beaded rabbit for a while now. Unfortunately, it seems like the majority of rabbits with these features are made from TPR, and I vastly prefer silicone. I have a couple TPR beaded rabbits (the Angel Bunny and the Lilac G, both of which I got as free promotional items), and while I really like the rotating shaft and beads, I've never cared for the rubbery, high-drag feel of TPR, so they haven't seen a whole lot of use. When I saw that Eden was now offering a silicone toy with these features, I jumped at the chance to try it!
The Black Pearl arrived early with several other assignments in Eden's usual nondescript brown shipping box. The sender is listed as the intentionally vague "Web Merchants Inc," so those with privacy concerns can rest easy that nosy neighbours or housemates won't know what's inside your package. Inside this box and nestled in brown shipping paper, the Black Pearl was packaged in a simple sealed plastic bag, along with a USB charging cable and a black mesh drawstring pouch for storage. I appreciated Eden's lack of bulky, wasteful packaging, but if you intend to give this toy as a gift, you'll have to find your own box. There were no instructions, but the toy is easy to figure out, so instructions weren't necessary.
The first thing I noticed about the Black Pearl was its size. This sucker is LONG, especially by rabbit standards. Most rabbits seem to have an insertable length between 3-5 inches, but the Black Pearl gives you a full 6 1/2 inches of insertable length to work with. If you've ever found yourself wishing that your rabbit could reach a little deeper, the Black Pearl was designed with you in mind! Its circumference is about average by rabbit standards, at about 4 1/2 inches. Its long, slender, torpedo-shaped black body with a subtle upturn at the head and two small ridges give this toy a very sleek, sexy, modern look that I found extremely appealing. The silicone covering it is extremely soft and smooth and produced very little drag as I ran my fingers over it. I could see the beads very faintly beneath their thin silicone skin. The material covering the beads feels much thinner than on my TPR rabbits, and I could feel the beads much more. I assume that because silicone is a stronger and more durable material than TPR, that allows the material covering the beads to be thinner, which makes the beads much more stimulating. The Black Pearl also features a rabbit-shaped clitoral stimulator that is very flexible and hugs the shaft closely. It has soft, flexible ears positioned at a slightly downward angle, which I thought boded well for fitting my particular anatomy.
Next, I turned my attention to the toy's functions. The Black Pearl has three buttons. The top button is the power button and turns the toy on and off with a simple push (no need to hold it down). The middle button controls the shaft and bead rotation, and gives you four settings to choose from. It has steady rotating of both the beads and shaft in both directions, and then it has two additional settings that change the direction of rotation at different intervals (one setting changes direction back and forth rather quickly, while the other changes direction more slowly). There are no vibrations in the shaft, just rotating of the shaft and beads. The bottom button controls the vibrations in the clit bunny. It has three intensities of steady vibration, plus several patterns. The vibrations seemed to have decent (though not knock-your-socks-off) power and are more buzzy than rumbly. Both the shaft and clit bunny are activated with a simple push of the necessary button, and you can turn off either function (without turning off the whole toy) by holding down the necessary button for a couple seconds.
All in all, I was very pleased with the Black Pearl thus far, and was excited to take it for a spin!
