Reliable and Sexy with it.
More of a vroom than a buzz, I'm happy I opted for the medium Smart Wand and not the large.

Pros
Impeccable quality, consistently holds its charge
Cons
Requires adapters for plug if outside USA
Most or many people reading this review will already be familiar with Lelo as a brand and the quality of their toys. I was well versed in Lelo items myself before buying the Smart Wand, but it has helped to cement them in my mind as a byword for quality. The Smart wand is beautifully presented: nestled into a white box with a lapel pin (I'll admit, the pin makes me giggle), and the box is sturdy and good for later storage of your wand. The silicone the wand is made from is velvety soft and can easily be washed clean after use, and the lack of seams means there's nothing to distract from my pleasure when using the wand. The buttons are also well integrated into the design and I found them easy to operate without looking at the during use. The curve of the handle also made it easy to use this toy during solo sessions and with a partner, as I didn't have to hold my arm at an uncomfortable angle to position the wand.
As the wand is made of silicone, avoid using silicone lubes with it and when washing it after use it can't be immersed totally in water for boiling for example because of the electronic components.
As to who would enjoy the Smart wand? I personally need G spot stimulation and clitoral stimulation to squirt during sex and the wand performed fantastically for providing the necessary external stimulation to allow that. The vibration options are good: enough that it would provide for a wide range of preferences but not to many that cycling through them is a chore or an irritation (they range from speed options, to pulsations, to scaled vibrations). The vibration itself is quite deep, probably not what most would call 'rumbly' but more of a vroom than a buzz. I haven't unfortunately tried the famed Hitachi wand yet as getting it to work in New Zealand involves purchasing a transformer to plug it in to the wall safely, so I can't make that comparison, but I haven't yet felt the vibrations were too weak. I also haven't regretted buying the medium rather than the large: the medium is strong enough for me, and I think the large would be a lot more difficult to use with a partner. The wand also holds it charge for a long period of time, and hasn't died on me mid-session, to my considerable relief. It's also fairly quiet - unlikely to be heard through a closed door, although when using it I am probably considerably noisier than the wand.
A note for any would-be buyers outside the USA. The included charger is for a US plug, but the unit is dual voltage, so if you have 110V/220V you should be able to run it through a plug adapter rather than forking out for a voltage transformer.
