Realistic tongue action

The Ora 3 is a beautiful, luxurious, and unique toy that replicates the feeling of actual oral sex better than any sex toy I've tried to date. It may not give me mind-blowing orgasms by itself, but it's become one of my favourite clit foreplay toys, and it pairs beautifully with vibrating eggs. If you're looking for something a little different, I'd recommend giving it a try!

First impression

I was intrigued by the Ora because the design is so different from any other sex toy I've tried. I honestly wasn't quite sure what to expect with it, but I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did!

The Ora 3 arrived with several other purchases in Eden's usual innocent-looking brown cardboard shipping box. Those with privacy concerns can rest easy, as even the sender ("Web Merchants Inc.") won't give any nosey neighbours or housemates any clue as to the true nature of what's contained inside your package. Inside this discreet shipping box was Lelo's always-classy packaging containing the Ora 3. I ordered the Deep Rose colour, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it looked even more lovely in person than it did in the pictures on the product page.

I opened up the box and pulled out the Ora 3, which also came with a USB charging cable, a warranty card, a nice storage pouch, and a little sachet sample of Lelo's water-based lube. As with all Lelo products I've purchased, the Ora 3 is covered in a skin of incredibly smooth, silky-feeling silicone. It feels extremely luxurious and high-quality. The box itself was black with gold writing, with a clear plastic window on the front that allows you to see the product before you open the package. The back of the box contains some basic information about the Ora 3. The packaging is not terribly discreet, given that you can see the toy inside it and the writing on the back leaves little doubt that it's a sex toy. However, the box is sturdy, so as long as space and discretion aren't an issue, it would work perfectly well for storage. However, I simply don't have the space to hold onto all my sex toy boxes, so I chose to recycle the box and use the more space-efficient pouch that was included for storage.

As with all the Lelo products I've ordered (and most sex toys in general, actually), the Ora 3 arrived with a charge, so I turned my attention to figuring out its buttons and functions. This toy has three buttons: a plus and minus button on the top and bottom, and a middle button that cycles through the various modes of vibration and "tongue" rotation. The plus button turns the toy on when it's held down, and also increases the intensity of the toy's vibrations, while the minus button turns the toy off when held, and decreases the intensity of its vibrations.

This toy has a sort of ball-like projection that rotates and wiggles beneath a silicone skin that's designed to stimulate the clitoris (or really any other body part you care to hold it against) in a manner similar to a lover's tongue or finger. In addition to that function, the Ora 3 also vibrates, and it has a variety of patterns and functions of vibration and "tongue" movements. I believe I counted about 12 different modes in all. The "tongue" moves in a circle, back and forth, and sometimes a combination of both. Most of the modes combine various patterns of vibration with various "tongue" movements, though a couple of modes just have the "tongue" moving without any vibration. It looked like a very fun, interesting, and different toy, and I was excited to give it a try!

First Use

Before trying out my new toy, I plugged it in to ensure it was completely charged, then took it off to the bathroom sink for a quick wash. As this toy is waterproof and made out of silicone (10/10 on Eden's safety scale, non-porous, hypoallergenic, and phthalate-free), it's very easy to clean and care for. You can wash it with either a toy cleaner or mild soap and water. Since it has mechanical components, you cannot sterilise it by boiling it or running it through the dishwasher, as the heat would ruin its mechanics, but if you feel the need to sanitise it, you can clean it with either rubbing alcohol or a 5-10% bleach solution (just be sure to rinse thoroughly).

Once my Ora 3 was charged and clean, I took it back to my bedroom and went through my usual ritual of putting a towel down on my bed and pulling up a sexy short story on my phone. I turned the Ora 3 onto a mode that had the "tongue" slowly rotating in a circle with a steady vibration on a relatively low intensity. I also added a little water-based lube to both the "tongue" area of the Ora 3 and myself (as this toy is made from silicone, you'll want to stick to water-based lube and avoid lubes that are silicone or oil-based, as these can degrade the silicone), then I held the business part of the toy to my clitoral area. I must say, I had a bit of trouble positioning it just right. My clit is pretty small, and the area of the toy where the "tongue" moves around is actually pretty large (at least in comparison to my tiny clit). Eventually, after some experimentation and a little frustration, I found that it worked a lot better for me when I put it on a setting where the tongue moved back and forth rather than in a complete circle. This allowed it to move back and forth across my clit faster, and I wasn't left with such a large area to try to center over my sensitive bit. Once I finally got it situated correctly and added a little more lube, I found that it felt absolutely lovely! It felt extremely realistic, almost like an actual human tongue licking at my ladybits. Lots of toys are advertised as simulating the feeling of oral sex, and while many of those toys do feel quite good, this is the first I've tried where I really felt that it provided a sensation that was actually fairly close to real oral sex. It definitely requires a decent amount of lube to achieve that realism, but once I got that part squared away, I was really impressed with the stimulation of the Ora 3. It felt really, really good. I wasn't able to orgasm from using the Ora 3 that first time, but it was an excellent foreplay toy that made me very aroused and ready to enjoy a penetrative toy, and despite the slightly frustrating start I had, I felt that my first experience with the Ora 3 was wonderful, and I looked forward to playing with it more.

Further Experience

I've continued to really love this toy as I've used it more. It's still more of a foreplay toy than a real "finisher" for me, but it's awesome to use on my clit as I ready a racy story, and always gets me really wet and turned on for some later penetrative fun. One aspect of the design I don't totally love is the fact that it's a little bulky, and it's pretty much impossible for me to pair it with most penetrative toys. That said, I have VERY much enjoyed pairing it with my Eunoia vibrating egg. Since the Eunoia egg just has a thin little retrieval cord that remains outside the body when inserted vaginally, it doesn't get in the way of the Ora 3's bulk, and I can use the Eunoia for internal stimulation while using the Ora 3 on my clit, which is a really heavenly combination. Still, since I love dual stimulation, it's a little bit of a bummer that I'm so limited in which internal toys I can pair with the Ora 3. I've also found myself wishing that the vibrations were a little more targeted. It feels like the entire front part of the toy pretty much vibrates at the same intensity, and I'd like it if the vibrations were a little more concentrated in the area that actually contacts my clit. However, I recognise that there simply may not have been space for a vibrating motor so close to the mechanics that control the "tongue." Though it doesn't make my hands numb during use, so that's nice. The vibrations are definitely less pronounced in the back part of the toy that you hold onto.

Vibration Map

I struggled a bit with the vibration map, but I marked the "tongue" area as a 3, just because the vibes are strongest in that general area. They seem to become less pronounced as you get to the back part of the toy with the buttons and the little loop/handle, though they can still be felt there as well.
  • Very mild, low level vibration
  • Moderate vibration
  • Strong and easily felt vibration

Orgasm Intensity

I haven't managed to orgasm from using this toy by itself, but it's incredible for foreplay, and it's also really awesome when paired with an internal toy like a vibrating egg. When paired with internal stimulation, the orgasms are amazing!
Follow-up commentary
I still really like the Ora 3. It's gotten easier for me to get it positioned in just the right spot with a little practice, and it feels amazing on the clit. However, because it's virtually impossible for me to use it alongside most internal vaginal toys, I don't find myself reaching for it quite as often as some of my more streamlined clit toys. But it still provides a wonderful sensation, and I'm really glad to have it in my collection.
