Rabbit Lessons From A TPR Butterfly
If you're looking for a non-jelly rabbit vibe with loose pearls and rotation, the 8 loose "rows" of pearls of the (TPR) Silicone Beaded Butterfly are a great place to look. You'll feel like you're being stirred like cake batter, and the controls make it easy to increase the rotation so your muscles can't stop your fun. The butterfly is a good choice for women with average-to-close clits---so if you want a robust rabbit with a lot of loose pearls, this might be just the thing!

Pros
Can't kill it with kegels, not jelly, separate controls, LOTS of loose pearls, doesn't jam (so far)
Cons
Porous + superglue scent from 6" away, need a finger assist to orgasm.
My very first rabbit---the Silicone Beaded Butterfly. California Exotics seemingly makes hundreds of rabbits, and lots of other companies put out offerings as well---I think that there are more choices on the market when you're looking for a dual stimulator (g-spot and clitoral simultaneously) than when you're looking for any other kind of sex toy. It makes sense---the excellent sensations that dual stimulation can provide, combined with the many possible different anatomies and preferences of all the women in the world, means there are going to be lots of rabbits out there to try to fit each woman's needs!
So how did I choose this one? Some of the biggest things I cared about were material, size and clit portion placement, bead arrangement, and individual controls. Did it work for me? Read on to see!
MATERIAL
Because the shafts of many rabbit vibrators rotate, a very flexible material is needed. Silicone, my favorite soft material because it's nonporous, body-safe, and odor-free, just isn't flexible enough to rotate and let you feel beads beneath the surface. The major rabbit options are jelly and TPR. Since jelly stings me, I had to choose a TPR toy. The Silicone Beaded Butterfly is completely clear, and is phthalate-free. When I opened my box from Eden, I was glad that I couldn't smell it before I opened the box (with jelly you usually can). It does have a slight odor, which reminds me of dried Super Glue, when you hold it about six inches from your face. It is extremely flexible, especially over the beads, as you can see in the picture below. I'm sad that my rabbit is porous, because that means I can't use it on my period without fear of discoloring the clear shaft, and I'll never be able to use it anally or share it with a friend. It can only be washed with soap and water (though it is waterproof for easy cleaning) or a toy wipe, never sterilized. Still, to feel the pearls, it's a necessary compromise.
SIZE
Size is one of the most confounding parts of choosing a rabbit. The distance from vagina to clit varies a lot among women, and for any rabbit you'll see some reviews saying "this is perfect" and others saying "have they ever seen a human body?" Some rabbits are designed for far-spaced girls, other rabbits are designed for closely-spaced girls. My clit is 7mm from my urethra (extremely close), so I chose a butterfly shape---this looked like it had the best chance of the butterfly's stalk hitting my clit, even if the antennae were very far away. I think this rabbit was best designed for women whose clits are between 10 mm and 35 mm from their urethrae. (The upper end is an estimate, of course.)
I was glad to find that, during use, I was able to experience all of the butterfly, including its fun flapping antennae---I just had to pull the shaft out more or less to focus the sensations where I wanted them. Thanks to the long bead chamber and the rotating head, even when I pulled the vibe out far enough that the antennae were on my clit, my vagina wasn't left bored. Also, pulling the shaft in and out focused the rotations and bead sensations in different places, so I was adjusting that all the time even without thinking about the butterfly placement. Those with close clits will be glad to hear that the butterfly's stalk vibrates nicely for me even when the shaft is fully inserted.
Additionally, the insertable length is 5.25", and the girth is 1.625", so if those dimensions don't mesh with your body, you can seek a longer or shorter, thicker or thinner vibe.
BEAD ARRANGEMENT
There are lots of possible bead arrangements---some rabbits have none, some have many, some have a few. Some are totally loose, some are in rows. I wanted lots of beads, and I wanted them to be loose. Even though the loose beads are more likely to jam than beads in rows, one reviewer said her loose beads "stir her like cake batter," while beads in rows don't feel as intense. I wanted to be "stirred like cake batter"---so lots of loose beads it was---and the Silicone Beaded Butterfly's got'em!
The 8 (loose) rows of beads take up about 2" of the shaft, and (depending on how you position this) they are most likely going to be surrounding your vaginal opening. The beads are exactly like the fake pearls used in necklaces, right down to the hole (so if your vibe ever breaks, I guess you can make a commemorative bracelet?), and they are pushed around the lower section of the vibe by a plastic paddlewheel as the central shaft of the vibe rotates.

Experience
CONTROLS AND POWER
I had tried one other dual stimulator before---the Lelo Ina---and it was a miserable failure for me. I like soft vibrations on my clit, but I need strong sensations internally, otherwise I will kill them when I squeeze my kegels to orgasm. The Ina, even though its shape felt nice, had a powerful clit motor and a weak internal motor, so I could never use it happily. So, I knew I needed a rabbit where I could change the rotation separately from the clit vibe. The Silicone Beaded Butterfly was a perfect fit for me here---there are three speeds of rotation, the direction of rotation can be changed, and there are three intensities of clit vibrations. There is a separate button, and indicator light, for each of these functions.
I especially liked that there were multiple levels of rotation and that the direction could be changed. I was worried that my kegels would clamp down and stop the rotations entirely (that happened with the vibrations in Ina, after all). To combat that, I hoped choosing CalEx would help, because it's a point of pride for them to have a high quality motor for the price range. When I was actually using it, I could slow down the rotations considerably but I couldn't actually stop them with my vaginal muscles. Even better, if I was squeezing hard enough for the paddlewheel to have to force against me---in the first pace, even the "I'm trying to rotate" force of the motor felt good, but in the second place, I could switch directions with the convenient "change directions" button, or increase the level of rotation so my kegels would be thwarted! This feels good no matter how hard I squeeze it. I was very pleased by that.
FINAL THOUGHTS
So, at the end of the day, in terms of material, size, bead arrangement, and controls---I think I chose the best possible rabbit for me. Still, at the end of the day, it didn't give me the instant orgasm that "rabbit girls" rave about. In fact, it was opposite. I used this for an hour session, a 30min, and a 45min session (all on the same 3-AA batteries, which are lasting very well), and for a girl who can orgasm in 5 minutes with a dildo alone, I didn't make it to orgasm with this in its suggested position. To get off, I had to flip things around and use my fingers to make it over the edge.
I'm not sure what to "blame" for this---the rotations feel amazing, but they're not the filling-thrusting or the precision g-spotting that are sure-fire orgasm-makers for me. The butterfly ranks in the 3-4 vrooms range depending on the setting, but I just don't use clit vibes that frequently because fingers are more reliable for me. I think the fact that the butterfly wasn't exerting pressure contributed to me not orgasming in proper rabbit mode. The orgasms I had with the rotations going on and the butterfly massaging me backward were absolutely incredible. I'm glad I tried a rabbit---I probably won't be trying any others, but I'll pull this butterfly out on special occasions to relish some rotation.
