On the front of the box it says "unscented TPR", but then "TPE" on the bottom of the box, and "unscented TPE" on manufacturer's website. The feel of the material is very nice. It's perfectly smooth to the touch, with none of the sticky feeling that is common with so many TPR or TPE toys. I can't stand the smell of this thing. Michele washed it right after we got it, left it in the bathroom all day, and by evening the whole room smelled like we'd been building model airplanes in there.
