The box probably shouldn't be used as a storage box. It is just a typical paper one, but I use it for storage. I've had the thing for about a year, and the box hasn't given out yet. It can be used as a gift box, but it isn't very pretty without wrapping paper. I believe there was a small user's manual that came with the toy, explaining the buttons, functions, and batteries. That manual is long gone now!
