Making sexual music has never been easier than with this line from Evolved. Soft, flexible, strong, and waterproof, Serenade will serenade you with bliss.
Serenade is just one of the Symphony Edition vibes from Evolved. They've all got cute music related names, and based on their reviews, all have a little bit of awesomesauce. The Serenade is a bit on the thicker side, but the tapered tip and graduated ribbed bulbs mean that there's something for just about every vagina out there.
Serenade is made of TPR, which means that while it's generally going to be ick-free, it's also not sterilizable, so you should either keep this one all to yourself, or break out some condoms to share with. The overview page describes it as feeling jelly-like, and I'm inclined to agree. Soft, squishy, quite a bit of drag, and a lint magnet, but still very nice all the same. A little bit of lube will take care of the drag. Serenade also has a bit of a smell. Nothing too deal breaking unless you have a very sensitive nose, but definitely something almost sickly sweet and slightly chemically.
Serenade is 6 1/2" of graduated, bumpy, ribbed, goodness. Even including the handle it's only about 8 1/2" long, making it very easy to wield in the hand. The tip that houses the very generously sized bullet is just over 4" around, great for shallow insertion. This is followed by 3 increasingly larger sets of ribs that go from 4 1/2" around, to 5", and just under 5 1/2". There's a size here for every vagina, seriously.
Serenade is also pretty flexible. So much so in fact that you'll want to be careful if you're intentionally flexing it since you might end up detaching the material from the base on accident.
It's not going to be the best to travel with, unless you happen to keep yours in a toy pouch. But even then, it's just large enough that unless you're packing a suitcase or larger bag, this one's going to take up a lot of room. It's also not the most discreet thing out there, so I'd keep it tucked away if you're nervous about people seeing anything.
I don't think Evolved could have made the Serenade any easier to use. First pop 2 AA batteries into the provided power pack, then insert back into the base of the toy and screw on the base. A single button at the base of the toy controls the 3 levels of steady vibration.
Level 1 - Uber quiet. Strong enough to get off the very sensitive clits, but won't be felt all that much internally. Out on its own, can barely be heard. Resting in its case, you can easily feel the vibrations through the metal.
Level 2 - Vibrations travel very well throughout the entirety of the toy now. Heard through a door only if that person is listening specifically for it and you're not under a blanket or have any other background noise. Strong enough to make the fingers go numb if held for too long and felt very easily internally.
Level 3 - The final and strongest vibrations, when placed in the case, the case will dance if it's on a smooth hard surface. In a very very quiet setting, it'll be loud outside the body, but not heard very easily inside the body. Too much for many clits out there, but a very nice sensation internally.
Serenade claims to be waterproof and has so far lived up to that claim for me, working well in the shower and passing sitting in the sink for a few minutes.
Care and maintenance is pretty simple, wash with warm water and antibacterial soap, or with a gel like toy cleaner. The little ribs might be a bit of a pain to clean sometimes, so you can either use a washcloth or an old toothbrush if you're worried about stuff gathering and staying in there. To prevent lint gathering (since it does like to gather lint) you can let it air dry, but no matter what, make sure it's dry before you store it back in its case.
You can safely use water based or silicone based lubes with Serenade.
All of Evolved's packaging is just marvelous. The Serenade comes in a metal tin with its signature canning jar clasps holding the lid on. As usual, there isn't really much for instructions, but the gorgeous red tin does tell you that it's part of the Symphony Edition, is waterproof, has 3 speeds, and is phthalates free.
The packaging is pretty enough to be given as a gift and functional enough to be used as storage as well. A nice peek-a-boo slot in the shape of the Serenade in the front of the container allows you to easily see what's inside of it.
I'm hoping that with time, I'll be able to make it past the first set of ribs comfortably. I could handle the thrusting, but the sensations were just too much for me. The large bullet feels great clitorally, and since the vibrations travel so well down the shaft, it felt great vaginally as well. This is my first non-silicone Evolved toy, and while I do kinda wish the Serenade was made of silicone, I'm growing to like it more and more each time I use it.
Follow-up commentaryI don't like it anymore4 months after original review
This is still a good toy, just try as I might, I haven't been able to get it to work better for me. The ribs without a condom are still a little overwhelming, and I dislike having to get a condom out for a toy that doesn't necessarily need one.
Since it was gathering dust at my place, I cleaned it really well, and passed it on to a very good friend with full disclosure about why it was leaving my possession. She absolutely loves it.
