No, it's not your electric toothbrush

The Eroscillator provides unique sensations with multiple attachments. It plugs into the wall for maximum power, but has a twelve foot cord so it will reach almost anywhere.

Use

The Eroscillator is a rather unique vibrator, useful for stimulating any external part of the body (and some limited internal uses) with a variety of attachments. Rather than using a rotating weight like a typical vibrator (or cell phone/pager) it has a special drive mechanism which moves an attachment back and forth.

It's designed primarily for stimulating a woman's clitoris and labia, but with the right attachment it can be very effective on the nipples, or on a man's penis.

The Eroscillator is currently available in two different models, the Eroscilator 2 Plus and the Eroscillator 2 Top Deluxe. The Top Deluxe has a more powerful motor. Each of the two models can be bought with several different packages of attachments. I'm reviewing the most basic (and least expensive) package, which consists of the Eroscillator 2 Plus (the lower-powered unit) with three attachments: the Ball and Cup, the Grapes and Cockscomb, and the Golden Spoon.

Material / Texture

The base of the unit is hard plastic. It has a ridged texture which helps you to hold onto the toy while you're using it.

The attachments are advertised as being silicone-covered TPR, but they don't feel much different from the hard plastic used for the rest of the toy. The different attachments have various textures, allowing for different levels of stimulation depending on what you need, or what you're in the mood for. This package has the following three attachments (but others are also available):

Ball and Cup: The "cup" side is a smooth concave surface, whereas the back of it has three round dots.

Grapes and Cockscomb: The "grapes" consist of a number of round dots, more pronounced than the ones on the Ball and Cup. The "cockscomb" has a ridged texture.

Golden Spoon: This is similar to the Ball and Cup in appearance, but it feels different when it's used. The "spoon" is elongated and shallower than the cup. The back of the spoon has more dots, but they're smaller and more subtle.

Design / Shape / Size

This is one ugly toy. The gold plastic and the industrial design on the base reminds me of my grandma's hair dryer in the early 80s. The overall shape resembles an old electric toothbrush. Definitely not sexy. On the other hand, I suppose that means it is less obviously a sex toy. And who cares what it looks like, when it feels so good?

What really matters is how well the design works. The base of the unit is about an inch in diameter and the ridged surface makes it easy to hold onto. It's 11 inches long, which might seem unwieldy at first, but the length actually makes it easy to aim the attachments at whatever body part you want to stimulate.

The attachments themselves are great, although your mileage may vary depending on your personal preferences. My girlfriend uses the Grapes and Cockscomb to get the most stimulation possible on her clitoris, but I prefer the other two attachments.

I love the Golden Spoon on my penis, especially if I slide it under my foreskin. The bumps on the back of it stimulate the inner part of my foreskin while the spoon part works its magic on the glans (head of the penis). It's amazing. I can't think of any other vibrator which can provide such great sensations on my penis.

The Ball and Cup, on the other hand, is great for nipple play. I'm addicted to the sensation of the cup on my nipples. My girlfriend doesn't like it on her nipples, but she has extremely sensitive breasts and rarely likes her nipples touched at all, so I'm not surprised that she doesn't like it.

The base unit is somewhat heavy and bulky, and with the long power cable it takes up a bit of space. This may be a concern when traveling.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Eroscillator is known for its unique oscillations. The motion of a normal vibrator is perpendicular to the surface of your body; it repeatedly pounds against you. The Eroscillator's back-and-forth motion, on the other hand, brushes against your skin, moving parallel to your body. The manufacturer claims that the oscillating motion doesn't numb you the way a conventional vibrator might, and I think they might be on to something.

The controls on the Eroscillator are pretty easy to use. There's a slider which clicks into 4 positions: off, low, medium, high. No patterns, just a constant back-and-forth motion at 3600 times per minute (that's a nice deep 60 Hz, no annoying high-pitched buzzing). The three different power settings don't change the frequency of the vibration; instead they adjust the intensity of the movement. The motor is very strong, as you'd expect from a toy that plugs into the wall. At the same time, it's pretty quiet. Not completely silent, but it's easily muffled by a blanket.

It plugs into the wall, so you obviously cannot use it in or around water.

Care and Maintenance

The manufacturer claims that it is watertight, so you can clean it under running water. I wouldn't submerge it completely in water, however. The attachments should cleaned with warm water and mild soap.

I only use my Eroscillator with water-based lubricants.

Packaging

The Eroscillator is packaged in a nice-looking box, which would be appropriate to give as a gift. The various attachments and the power cord are each packaged in a separate plastic bag, and it includes several informative brochures, with plenty of useful information on how to get the most out of your new toy.

Personal comments

The fast oscillation of the attachments can look weird if you watch them up close with the power turned up to high. The rapid movement makes the attachment look blurry which can be a bit distracting, such as when your girlfriend has it on her clit and you're going down on her.

Experience

My girlfriend and I have had a great time with the Eroscillator. We were expecting a great clitoral vibrator for her, which it definitely is, but it's also been great on my nipples and penis. So we've ended up with a great toy for both of us.
Follow-up commentary
So, after a few months we still use it occasionally, even if we don't use it all the time. There's nothing else quite like it, so I think it'll always have a place in our bedroom, even if we still enjoy a lot of our other vibrators, too.
