California Exotic's Pearl Butterfly Vibrator is a dual use vibrator with a rotating 6 inch shaft and a clitoris-hugging butterfly bullet. This vibrator is intended for dual stimulation. It can be used for thrusting with the rotating shaft and clitoral stimulation at the same time with the butterfly bullet at the base of the shaft. The shaft is long enough to hit the g-spot and the rotating pearls give the vaginal wall a nice massage. This toy is for anyone from beginners on up. However, if you like a more slim line vibrator or dildo then this one may be a bit too large for you.

The toy is made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), which is one of the most commonly used plastics. I've had this toy for about 3 years and the material has held up incredibly well. It has more of a rubbery feel than a plastic feel to it. When I got the toy it was completely see through, but has clouded with age and lubricant applications. This toy has drag to it when you run it across your skin and definitely requires lubricant.
Being that it is a plastic based material, it is safe with water and silicone based lubricants. The shaft and the bullet are both the same PVC material.

The handle, which houses the control levers for both the shaft and the bullet, is made from hard plastic. The back of the handle is the battery house which has an easy to open door to install 3 AA batteries (not included).
There is no noticeable smell or taste to the toy. When I hold it under my nose I can slightly smell the citrus cleaner I use on it, as PVC is porous as absorbs scents. I always use unscented lube, but if you use flavored or scented lubes with this toy the smell may linger.

The shaft of the vibrator is shaped like a penis with a somewhat realistic looking head. Underneath the head are three ridges that graduate around and taper up to the head in the same shape as foreskin. Just below the foreskin is the rotating shaft that is filled with pearl beads. This portion of the shaft is two inches long and when turned on it rotates in a counterclockwise circular motion. This gives the vaginal wall a stimulating massage. The head also rotates in a counterclockwise motion to stimulate and massage the g-spot. The entire shaft is six inches long from tip to where it meets the bullet.

The butterfly from the base to the clit-hugging antennae is approximately three and a half inches long. The shaft is only somewhat flexible. There isn't a whole lot of give there. The bullet is however, very flexible which makes it a little easier to move it in the position you need to get it to in order to stimulate your clitoris. Because, as we all know, no two clits are in the same place!

I would still say a beginner would not have problems with using this toy. It was one of my very firsts, but it is a bit rigid and a bit large if you are just starting to experiment with toys and want to start small and work your way up. If you want to start stiff and big(ish), then this is your toy!

This toy does exactly what it is advertised to do. The shaft and the bullet each have five speeds. The control panel is located on the handle at the bottom. There is a separate control for both the shaft and the bullet. To turn either of them on you just push the corresponding button upwards. The shaft rotates and the speed of rotation begins at a slow circular motion that increases up five graduating steps to a more intense, faster rotation. The bullet is very similar but the five graduating steps make the vibration go from a soft hum to a more intense vibration.

I have used the shaft a few times but honestly find it a bit rigid and if I am using the shaft in conjunction with the bullet, I almost never turn on the rotating beads. I don't find them unpleasant, but they don't really add anything to the experience for me. I do however LOVE the little bullet on this toy. I wish sometimes I could rip it off just to have it as a clitoral stimulator all by itself. I've tried to find other bullets with the same power and intensity that this one has alone and have not been able to replicate it.

This toy is NOT waterproof, as the door on the battery house is secure, but not sealed. So if you dunk this in water it's a goner. This toy is pretty quiet for such a large toy. The bullet alone has a low hum even on the highest speed. The rotating shaft is a bit noisier. You could probably hear it through a door or under covers. I do have to give the battery life some props. I've had it for three years and use the bullet quite often and I've only had to change the batteries twice.

Because it is PVC the care and maintenance is pretty easy. Again, you can use water or silicone based lubricants. Warm soapy water or toy cleaner are fine to wash it. Remember what I said about the slight absorption of the smell. So, if you use cleaners with scents (I have a citrus cleaner that is my favorite) the toy is likely to absorb some of the smell. Not overpowering, but detectable if close to the nose.

The material can be a bit of a lint magnet; I would advise keeping it stored in a drawer or box away from animal hair and whatnot. It did not come with a storage bag, so I keep mine in a drawer by the bed. I do, however, wash it before each use because there is usually a little lint on it.

I am going to be completely and utterly honest here. I can't remember the package this came in! I believe it was a box with a picture of the product on the front, but I'm not going to bet the farm on that. I do know that it did not come with a storage package three years ago. I am not sure if they come with one now, but the product page looks exactly the same as when I bought it, so I'm going to guess that it still doesn't.

I have gotten several years of enjoyment out of this toy. My husband and I broke our toy cherry with the Pearl Butterfly. Pearl (not too creative I know, but that's her name) has given me so many great clitoral orgasms. I'll start with the butterfly bullet, because that is my favorite part of this toy. The bullet is enclosed in a butterfly shaped encasing. It has a rounded body, two wings that point inward toward the shaft and two antennae that have small bulbs on the end. Here is what I like so much: the material warms up with your body temperature very nicely. The wings have a bit of a hugging effect on the upper labia and the antennae aren't very long, so on me they hug my clitoris at just the right angle. I can turn this little bullet on the lowest setting, put it in place and literally have two orgasms with five minutes of turning it on. And that's if I just lay there and let it hum!

When the shaft is thrown in (well not thrown in, more like inserted) you get multiple stimulation. The shaft requires lube to go in smoothly for me, but I do find that I can't use the shaft and the bullet together as intended. If I insert the shaft all the way in to have the bullet hit my clitoris it's just slightly uncomfortable for me. Like I said above, I don't find much pleasure from the rotating beads, so I hardly ever turn them on. I do turn on the rotation occasionally for the rotating head sensation. If you turn on the rotating head you get the rotating beads automatically, they come as a pair. The shaft is a good full size and will fill up most vaginas well I think.
