This is definitely best utilized for those going solo. It has anal beads for rear stimulation, with a short vibrator for vaginal insertion as well as slight clitoral stimulation by the "beak" of the hummingbird. My husband and I have used the anal bead portion of this toy during oral sex, but it is a little awkward due to the curve of the toy. It is allegedly waterproof, although it has a remote with a wire...so the actual toy is submersible in water, but I would keep the remote that houses the batteries out of the water as that is clearly not water tight.

It is made out of a flexible silicone type material. I did not notice any sort of smell to the material. The flexibility of it is a nice feature, and it is definitely a suitable toy for beginners. The anal beads require some lubrication for insertion, but the toy is flexible enough that if you don't want to insert the whole line of beads, you can bend it to your liking.

I was really looking forward to trying this toy out. Once I started, however, I was not hugely enthusiastic. I did enjoy the anal bead portion. For me, the vibrator portion that is inserted vaginally is just not long enough. I'm not expecting a huge dildo, but I could hardly even tell it was in there. I definitely had to push the toy onto my girly bits to feel the vibration on my clitoris...once I did that, it was decent, but it required a bit of pressure from me. I personally think it looks more like a dolphin than a hummingbird...either way, its shape was just ok.

This is where I was incredibly disappointed in the hummingbird. It completely sucks batteries dry. It does not come with batteries, so I inserted 2 brand new triple A's when it arrived. My husband and I tried it out a few days later and we used it for a good portion of our foreplay session. A couple of days later, I wanted to try it out solo. The batteries were dying I guess, and it kept shutting off so I gave up at that point. My husband and I used it during sex again a couple of days later, and it kept shutting off again, so we tossed it aside. After we finished up, my husband replaced the batteries again. The next night, I tried to use it solo, and it shut off again. I thought there was no way it could already be dead, and I must have hit the on/off button on the remote. Well, unfortunately, the batteries were apparently dying, and they literally died right as I was having an orgasm...talk about disappointment. I was not happy.

The vibration comes from the body of the hummingbird, so it is not too strong once you get to the end of the anal beads. It's actually very quiet. The controls have several different strengths which allow you to adjust the intensity. I initially had a hard time putting the batteries in properly, because the +/- is so tiny on the controller to show you how to insert them, and my vision is so bad apparently that I could not figure out how they were supposed to go in, but once my husband (who has much better vision than I do) put them in correctly, it worked fine (till they died).

Since the hummingbird is waterproof, it can be fully submerged in water for cleaning purposes. We have simply cleaned it with hot soapy water. For the anal beads I have needed lube, and we used our regular, water based lubricant which worked fine. We store it in our nightstand and don't feel it needs any sort of special treatment.
