The Interlude is an excellent choice for beginners who don't want to start off with a small toy. This toy has a good length and width, decent vibrations, and is waterproof. It comes in a great case too. It'd didn't excite me much, but I wish I had gotten it when I first started trying toys.

Great intro toy that you won't "grow" out of immediately, Good length/thickness
Cons
Can screw up the battery compartment, Didn't feel the texture much, Loud on highest level
Evolved Novelties has some really fun shapes for intermediate toy users, but they also have some designs for the beginner who may not know what thy like yet. The Interlude is a mid range priced, sized, and powered vibrator that can help a novice figure out what they like, don't like, need or desire. For me, more was left to be desired, but if I had this vibrator as one of my first toys, I would have been a lot more grateful to have it. It's a low maintenance toy and is easy to use with one exception, the battery compartment. Make sure you don't force it, if you do, it could be the last time you change the batteries!
Like many Evolved toys, the Interlude is made of body safe TPR that is a 7 on Eden's safety scale. It is latex and phthalate free as well as hypo-allergenic. This material might feel a little like jelly, but it is much safer, more resilient, and less apt to deteriorate. It is not as porous as lower end materials, but still can harbor some bacteria. Using a condom can safe guard you against imperfect cleaning. This material had a slight "clean" smell at first, and it has not gone away. I sort of like it actually. The surface is smooth, but has a good amount of drag so using lubricant and rinsing before use is recommended.
It is currently available in the signature purple or pink Evolved colors. I have the pink. The material is clear so you can see through to the inside workings like the bullet and plastic battery housing.
The Interlude has a more traditional, no-frills design than the other toys from the Symphony line of Evolved. It has a classic torpedo like shape that is 8" long. 6" of that is insertable which should be enough for many women. The tip is nicely rounded for insertion, and after the first 1/2" the circumference is the same for the entire insertable length, 4 3/4". This also is a good circumference for many people. It's the perfect middle of the road size. It does have a uniqueness to it though. It's not all traditional. If you looks at it from the top, it looks like an asterisk (*). This is because the shaft actually has a star burst texture. It has vertical ribbing for added sensation. The toy is pretty firm since the bullet is located in the tip of the toy and then the middle of the toy is thick. It does bend a little bit in the middle where there is no plastic housing.
The toy does flare out to a thickness of about 6" in circumference. If you don't force this toy down to that point, it is safer for anal play. The base is shaped like an upside down Hersey's kiss, is plastic, and very easy to hold. There is a single push button at the very tip. The base says EVOLVED in white letters.
This toy is very obvious since it is phallic shaped, although not explicitly.
The Interlude's vibrations are strangely not as powerful as others in the same line. In a way, they feel clumsy, like they are hard but the motor isn't spinning as fast to create a seamless vibration. They are powerful, but unlike other vibrators in this line, I can't finish to the first level and the third isn't too strong for me. I can use the second and third levels just fine. The noise level is also higher than others in the line.
1. The first level is steady and moderately low. The vibrations are strongest in the last third of the vibrator. They don't travel to the base all that well. In a way this is good because it doesn't cause the fingers to go numb. The noise level can be heard across a small room.
2. The second level is a medium level. It increases the noise level quite a bit but doesn't make the vibrations travel any better in the toy.
3. The third level is what I consider to be a medium-high level. To start out, this level is too high for me, but i warm up to it easily. It is the only level that I feel decently internally. The other levels are not enough to really add to the arousal of using the toy internally. The noise level is higher as well. It might be able to be heard through a door if it is not inside the body.
Pressing the button again turns the toy off.
The Interlude is completely waterproof. I have used other similar products from Evolved in the shower and tub and they have been just fine. I have not done so with this particular one, though.
To insert the batteries, you have to keep a few things in mind. I messed up my Minuet by doing it wrong. The bottom unscrews and a battery holder slides out so two AA batteries can be placed in it. It can only go back in one way! If there is any resistance, do NOT force it. If you do, it's basically impossible to get back out without breaking it.
The TPR is easy to clean. Just use mild soap and warm water or a toy cleaner. Using a condom is great for easy clean up since the shape of this works well with condoms. TPR is safe to use with water or silicone based lubricants. Before returning it to its packaging, let it dry and remove the batteries.
The packaging, as with most Evolved toys, is great. It comes in a pretty, metal tin with a somewhat see- through top. From the side this case is discreet. You can place it in a book shelf or put something on top of it. The toy nestles in a foam cut out to keep it safe. The back has plenty of information about this toy and the inside has a warranty information card.
I wish this was one of my first vibrators. I didn't have the best ones at first. This vibrator is easy to use and never difficult to insert or thrust with. I was hoping that by twisting the toy, I'd feel the texture, but that wasn't the case. In that aspect, I was dissapointed. This is a good toy for me to use vaginally, if I want to be able to thrust and use a clitoral toy at the same time. Some of my toys require two hands to thrust with in order to not hit the cervix, or pubic bone. That isn't the case with the Interlude. It is excellent for those who are not sure what size they want or can take. Ts also goes for the power level. If you are looking for a safe, easy to use, non-intimidating vibrator that you won't grow out of TOO soon, the Interlude is a good choice.
Follow-up commentaryI don't like it anymore2 months after original review
Too mediocre for me, this one is collecting dust. I do still recommend it, but it doesn't excite me enough. The material has not clouded at all and the battery life is not horrible. If you are looking for a well made toy of good materials and shape, the Interlude is a great choice, especially for beginners since it is easy to use.
