I Won't be Swimming with this Dolphin Anytime Soon...
The Symphony Sonata Dolphin left a lot to be desired. It is moderately powerful, is overpriced, and the clitoral attachment is not unique. It is waterproof, has an easy to use button, and is easy to clean. However, I found nothing special to it. For its price, you could get a better quality dolphin that has lots of great reviews, more power, and better functions. This Dolphin and I won’t be swimming together anytime soon.
Evolved Novelties’ Symphony Sonata is a dolphin inspired rabbit style vibrator. It is a dual stimulator vibrator designed to stimulate both the G-spot and clitoris. I wanted to try out the Dolphin design after I fell in love with rabbits. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed. I think it is way overpriced for what it offers. Someday, I’ll buy a better quality dolphin vibrator. However, currently I’m happy with my regular rabbit.
Although I wouldn’t recommend you buy this dolphin, it is suitable for all users. It is fairly average in size and not intimidating whatsoever.
The Sonata is made out of TPR. It rates a seven out of ten on Eden Fantasy’s Safety Scale. It is fairly safe to use and is hypoallergenic. The TPR is slightly see through; you can see both motors in the vibrator. One at the top of the shaft and the other in the clitoral attachment. The shaft is really smooth to the touch. It is wavy and has a few bumps on it. I was actually surprised because I didn’t feel them when inserted. I really like the wave design. It’s really pretty and felt nice inside. There is some texture, but it isn’t overwhelming at all.
There was no smell when I took the Dolphin out of the tin. There is some drag to the Dolphin so be sure to use a lubricant. It does tend to attract some hair and lint. I usually had to wipe it down before use. I did find one seam, but I didn’t feel it inside me. The Sonata is fairly flexible and does bend when you apply pressure. The clitoral attachment bends much easier than the shaft. You can bend the dolphin all the way back.
The shaft of the Sonata is very wavy to simulate the Dolphin swimming up the vibrator. It looks pretty cool! The Dolphin itself is really cute. It has a mouth, eyes, fins, and a tail!
The shaft itself is fairly average in size. It is 8” in length and has an insertable length of 4 ½”. It has a circumference of 4 ¾” and a diameter of 1 ½”. It weighs .4 lb. The size is certainly suitable for all users.
What disappointed me most about the Sonata is the Dolphin design. What makes a rabbit vibrator very unique and popular are the little bunny ears that vibrate like crazy. They are usually located above the actual bunny. The Dolphin is one whole piece, and doesn’t have any extra material to help stimulate the clitoris. The feeling of this Dolphin would be similar if you just laid part of the shaft on your clit. There isn’t much to the clitoral attachment.
You could certainly travel with the Sonata if you wanted to. I would prefer to travel with something smaller.
The Sonata is operated by two AA batteries. They are located inside the bottom blue handle. Like other vibrators in the Symphony line, putting the batteries in the toy can be a little tricky. There is a little compartment that comes out of the vibrator where you place the batteries. Once you place the two batteries in the correct order, you have to put the compartment in exactly the right way. You have to align the arrows correctly. Please pay attention when you do this! There were a few times I attempted to put the batteries back in and it got stuck inside! I was a little too excited to use the toy and not paying attention. I had to use tweezers to get it out.
To turn on the Dolphin, simply press the botton on the bottom of the vibrator. The button is really easy to press and easy to access during use. There are only three settings: low, medium, and high. There are two motors in the Dolphin, one in the shaft and clitoral attachment. All three settings operate both motors at the same time. Unfortunately, you can’t turn on only one motor at a time. I expected this from such an expensive vibrator. I personally found the highest speed to be moderately powerful. I need power in my vibrators. Sadly, this Dolphin left me underwhelmed. As I mentioned before, the clitoral attachment didn’t have anything extra to it to excite me.
The Dolphin isn’t too loud. It could definitely be heard through covers, but not through a closed door. The Sonata is waterproof so you can take your Dolphin into the shower or tub for some under the sea fun. I never found that any water leaked into the compartment. I used the Sonata a few times on the highest setting and never had to replace the batteries.
There are many ways you can wash the Dolphin. Since it’s waterproof, I wash my Sonata in warm water and soap. You can also use a wet wipe. It is fairly easy to care for and no fluid got trapped anywhere.
Since the Dolphin is made of TPR, you can use a silicone or water based lubricant. I store my Dolphin in the tin it came in.
Like most of Evolved Novelties’ products, the Sonata came in a really cool see through tin. I love these tins! You can put a few toys in it, or just place the vibrator in its foam cut out. It’s not discreet by any means, but it’s really cool looking. No directions came with this vibrator.
I’m rating the Sonata Dolphin vibrator two stars out of five. I usually rate a vibrator that I think will work for others at least three stars out of five. However, there’s so much to this vibrator that falls short. It’s not super powerful and the clitoral attachment is really disappointing. If it weren’t so expensive, I would rate it one star higher. For $57.99, it should be a lot better made. Thankfully, I got it on a good sale so I didn’t lose much. With all of its flaws, I don’t think many people will like this vibrator.
I'm so sad that I didn't like this Dolphin. I've had this toy for months. Before I got it, I was SUPER excited to try it. I was so sure I was going to like it. I hate it when I get so excited for a toy and my expectations get too high. When it doesn't work out I'm left disappointed. I always find these reviews to be the hardest. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about!
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it1 month after original review
I hated this vibrator when I reviewed it and I still detest it today. I already threw it out, that's how much I dislike it! I found nothing special about it and it's super expensive for what it offers.
