Grading On a Curve

Overall, this is a fine toy. Seven inches of mild vibrations and a mild g-spot curve. If I was grading it like a student, I'd give it a C+. Nothing wrong with it, but certainly not outstanding in any way. It's a nice backup toy due to its reliability, its long battery life and its ease of use, but for me, it's not likely to be the star of the show.

Use

This vibe -- with its soft material, its steady vibrations and its softly curved end -- seems designed mainly for g-spot stimulation, while also providing a sense of fullness. Personally, I found the vibrations a little light and the g-spot curve a little too shallow to really work in that way. It did, however, work really well as either a second vibrator (along with my fave clit vibe) or as an external stimulator (the curve just happens to fit perfectly over my mons).

Depending on body shape, this vibe could work in any of the ways that I described above as well as a few more than I probably haven't thought of yet.

Material / Texture

Out of the box, the Flic Flac has just a bit of a scent -- to me, it smelled of empty grape bubble gum wrappers. Not unpleasant and not overly cloying, but a little unusual for a toy that promised no odor.

This is my favorite type of silicone toy -- soft in texture, semi-firm in shape.

Couple of things to remember: You have to disinfect silicone by boiling it (for three minutes) or throwing it in your dishwasher. The difficulty with that is while some of the information material says this vibe is waterproof, other parts say that it is only 'water-resistant.' I like the vibe too much to risk testing its true water-impenetrability, so I held it in the boiling water with a pair of tongs, keeping the base above the water.

Also: No lubes except water-based!

Design / Shape / Size

As I mentioned above, this vibe has a very soft g-spot curve. Perhaps I've been spoiled lately by how much I've been using the Blue Swirl G, which has a pretty sharp curve, but I found that this toy just didn't hit all the right spots for me quite as well. In addition, the vibrations are fairly strong when used outside, but once it's inside, the movement's fairly muted.

The size is just about perfect -- not too small, not too big. It doesn't look or feel overwhelming, so if you're unsure about g-spot toys or nervous about a sharp curve, this toy would be a great one to start with.

Can you travel with it and not have your mom realize what this toy is? Uh. No way. But it's pretty all the same, with its blue-purple swirls. At the very least, it could lead to a conversation about art and aesthetics.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibe really is as easy as it gets. Put two double A batteries in the end of it, turn the base and choose your vibration level. The batteries last a long time (I haven't replaced them yet). While the base isn't anything much to hold into -- it's just a simple plastic bit -- it's not obnoxious or complex, but it can also get a bit slippery.

It's also fairly stealthy, as far as vibes go. I'm not sure if the thickness of the silicone keeps the noise down, or if the motor is just quiet, but either way, this is one sneaky little toy. The strength of the vibrations match the noise, though, so while it revs, it doesn't REV, not even on its highest setting.

I didn't try it out too much in water, mainly because of the contrasting material that came with it. If it was a vibe I really disliked, I'd be willing to sacrifice it to the testing gods and shower with it, but I'm not quite ready to give it up yet. Perhaps for the follow up review, I'll be willing to experiment!

Care and Maintenance

Wash. Dry. Use with WATER-based lube. Repeat. Yes, it's that easy.

One of the great things about toys made of this material is that you can throw it in the toy box and it won't get harmed or harm anything else. The color doesn't come off, it won't chip or break, there's no way for it to leak on anything. This is one of those toys that requires so little care that it makes other toys seem like a pain in the butt. Low maintenance toys are my friends!
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging was simple enough -- cardboard box with a bit of plastic inside. The instruction booklet was about a hundred pages long, with only a few of those pages being in English. Multi-cultural at its best, but a little confusing. The instructions were the same as what you found on the box: material, batteries, cleaning. But there wasn't anything about how to use it or what it was actually designed for. You sort of had to guess that it was for g-spot stimulation.

Personal comments

I counted last night, and I have twenty-one vibes in my toy drawer. That's a full class, if I do say so myself. And while I was looking at vibes that I really really like -- my A+ students if you will -- I also realized I have a lot of C+ students. You know, all those toys that are solid, smart, and good-looking, but just don't do the extra work.

This vibe is one of those. It's well-built, has all the proper pieces-parts, is easy to handle and really really pretty... but, for me, it just doesn't go all the way toward being a straight A toy. There's not enough of a curve, not enough oomph.

But then again, I'm a hard teacher. I had A LOT of experience with sex toys, I like things that really rev and really curve, and I'm a hard teacher to please. So, if I grade this toy on a curve, thinking of its use for beginners, those who have trepidation and those who like things a little slower, I'd have to move this toy to a B+.
Follow-up commentary
I do still like this toy, but it's not one of those ones that I reach for automatically. I think that in the long run, the vibrations just aren't as strong as I typically like. Still a nice, solid toy, but not a favorite.
