Bullet vibrator

Good but Not Enviable

As a luxury bullet, the Envy 1 is certainly a good toy. It's rechargeable, encased in plush, attractive silicone yet is still able to put out some strong vibes. The addition of both functions and settings makes play time customizeable and the two-button interface is both accessible and easy to use. Envy 1 doesn't have any marks against it (other than the hefty price tag) -- it's just a matter of whether you know if there's something better out there, which there is.

Use

The bullet is the stand-by and workhorse of any sex toy box. The Jopen Envy 1 is an updated version of the standard bullet, but with severeal improvements for the luxury division. The Envy 1 is enclosed in cushy pink silicone, made slightly larger for penetration (its buddies Envy 2 and 3 are more in the standard vibrator category, to me), USB rechargeable, waterproof, and recessed, covered buttons for both steady vibrations and functions.

Like any bullet, The Envy 1 will please...
1. Erogenous zone stimulation (nipples, perineum)
2. Clitoral vibrator
3. Shallow penetration

But what makes the Envy 1 special from cheap-o bullets or even the great bullets from We-Vibe, like the Salsa?

The bottom line for the Envy 1 is that it's not special. I enjoy the cushy play surface and of course Jopen makes quality toys (I've never been let down by their rabbits) and the 7 patterns and speed levels are certainly varied but...Envy 1 isn't that powerful since it's swallowed by the silicone and it truly doesn't have any other outstanding features. You see a pink cylinder/column, it's a pink cylinder/column. No surprises.

By the same token, if you're looking for a standard, reliable, quality bullet vibrator, Envy 1 can certainly fill that spot in your toy box satisfactorily for years to come.

Material / Texture

The Envy 1 is, just as pictured, bright pink silicone. It's kind of breathtaking. Like the Vanity line, it's a shocking color but Envy is even less discreet and screams sex toy.

The silicone is cushy, delightful to touch, completely matte and surprisingly seamless. The bottom ridge of the toy can be pinched and squished slightly, but the entire toy itself is rigid and unbending. The entire surface of the toy is smooth, with no texture whatsoever.

Generally, Jopen's silicone really pleases me both in the lack of smell and taste as well as visually. The Leaf line is related to the Jopen line, which was the only line to feature some really ugly, prominent seams. Envy 1 is totally smooth -- nothing to complain about.

The control panel and DC jack are hidden on the end of the toy, away from the play surface and very accessible in use.

Design / Shape / Size

The Envy 1 is very straight forward. Its shaft is totally rigid, smooth and straight. In comparison to the Salsa, you could consider the Envy 1 more insertable, since it's thicker in girth and longer in length, but other than to tease, I personally don't find inserting the Envy 1 to be satisfying. Its buddies Envy 2 and 3 are more suited to this purpose.

Measurements:
There's not that much to measure on the Envy 1, really.
For comparison, the Salsa is thinner and shorter, at 3" long and 0.6" in width.

The vibrations are located towards the middle of the toy, which I kind of wish weren't true. This position means your fingers get a substantial amount of vibration and you can't stimulate your clitoris with pinpoint strength -- rather, the Envy works better by laying the sides of the cylinder against your clitoris or labia. This is acceptable, but I think Envy would capitalize on its strength better if the motor were positioned closer to the tip -- the vibrations would have to travel through less material.

The Water Test:
The water test allows you to visualize the vibrations of a toy in a somewhat standard setting -- immersing the toy at full power in a shallow basin of water lets you see the ripples and exactly how much the toy can move the water. Rumbly toys produce wider ripples while buzzy toys create tight, small ripples. Strong toys in general can move the water around a lot. I'll compare the Envy 1 to the Salsa, the Leaf Bloom and the Form 2.

Envy 1 wt 2

As you can see, Envy 1 is no slouch. It's quite powerful and it feels rumbly, almost as rumbly as the Salsa in use. I just wouldn't say it's as strong.

Form 2 wt
Salsa wtbloom wt

The Form 2 is the strongest toy pictured here, and is both much stronger and much buzzier than the Envy 1. The Salsa is the next strongest, with rumbly vibrations and is probably the most similar to the Envy 1 in power and 'feeling' of the toys compared here. The Bloom is pictured just to see a weaker toy compared to the Envy 1.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The control panel is located on the underside of the cylinder of Envy 1, which is quite accessible to your index and middle fingers in use. The control panel consists of 2 buttons, supposedly labeled F and blank, but I can barely see the letters. F indicates the function button. The blank button turns on the steady vibrations. Click and hold the F button to cycle through the patterns. Clicking and holding the blank button at the same time will result in the same pattern, but a stronger vibration level. Each button has its own red, LED light.

port

There are seven levels of steady vibrations, ranging from 2 vrooms to 4. The increase between levels is very incremental. The Envy 1 never gets more than 2 bees, and is even less when the Envy 1 is touching something.

Like the Leaf, Lux and Vanity vibrators, click any button once to turn on the toy; click and hold to get to higher power levels; click once while the toy is on to quickly turn it off. When the toy is turned back on, it will be on the lowest power setting.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

Unlike some rechargeables, The Envy 1 uses a DC port to charge, like the Leaf, Lux and the Vanity Jopen line. The DC port itself is protected by a thin membrane of silicone that really is impervious to water or other fluids while you're playing with it (I used to doubt it, but using the Envy in the bath and I didn't try especially protecting it from lube and things -- and it's totally fine!) Just be sure to completely dry the area before plugging the DC jack in.

The Envy takes about 2.5 hours to charge, for about 2.5 hours of play.

As a 100% silicone toy, the Envy may be wiped down with toy wipes or cleaner as an acceptable aftercare solution; a 10% bleach solution or warm soap and water may also be used. Do not boil the Envy 1 or send it through the dishwasher, as this will interfere and harm the electronic components.

The silicone used for Envy 1 is 100% premium silicone. The best lubes would be water or oil based, though a high grade, premium silicone lube may be patch tested at your own discretion.

Packaging:
The box for Envy is nice -- whoa nice. It's super feminine and storage-friendly, since it's a nice, regular, rectangular shape and contains a foam insert for both the charger and the toy itself to rest in. The lid of the box opens out and to the side, and is secured by magnets. The manual sits in its own sleeve, above the toy. I just wish some kind of travel bag were included, since the Envy 1 is such nice, compact size for traveling and essentially a bullet -- which is the easiest toy to have on a trip.

I have the Envy 3 and like it, but functions & control of the vibration intensity are important to me. Excellent review, thanks!
