Float Like A Butterfly, Vibrate Like A ... Butterfly
The Remote Control Butterfly is a good teaser toy. It’s easy to put on thanks to the g-string straps, and it stays in place well during movement and sex. It’s too bulky to wear under pants, although it’s fine under a skirt. The one speed remote is more for not having to worry about a battery pack instead of teasing your partner in public, though, and unfortunately it doesn’t have enough power in the bullet or a better placement to get you off alone.

Pros
Easy to put on, g-string style straps, cute design, low/no smell, decent range.
Cons
Only 1 speed, vibrations not strong, bulky to wear under clothes.
Most of the toys I have with remote controls have been egg style vibrators meant for internal use. I am a sucker for a remote control, though (and I have to admit my husband is as well), so when I saw this external strap on with a wireless remote, I figured, why not? And my husband saw a remote and salivated, so that made it a done deal.
The Remote Control Butterfly from Cal Exotics comes in a shiny cardboard box, with a picture of the product on the front being worn by a naked blonde woman. More product information is on the back of the box. Inside is the Butterfly, remote control, and 3 batteries (2 AAA for the Butterfly, and 1 12V for the remote) so you can start using it right away. A small instruction booklet for battery insertion is also included.
The Butterfly is a pretty purple, and the detailing looks nice. It is made of PVC and has a light rubber smell, but it’s very faint and is not overpowering or very noticeable. The material is smooth and soft without being squishy, and the wings are flexible.
My biggest problem with strap-on vibrators has always been the funky strap placement and figuring out how exactly to get them on, so I do love the straps on the Butterfly. Instead of leg loops, the Butterfly is attached to thin elastic straps that make a g-string. One strap goes between your legs, while the other opens up to fit around your waist. The straps in this design hold the Butterfly securely in place yet allow for adjustment. The g-string strap is not so thick that it impedes vaginal or anal penetration. The elastic straps are quite stretchy, and will fit up to about a 40” waist. The straps can be completely removed if they need a more thorough cleaning than soap and water.
The Butterfly was larger than I expected. It’s 4” wide across the wings, and 4 1/2" long from head to the bottom of the abdomen. The main piece (excluding the abdomen) is 5/8” thick in the body. The abdomen is about 3/4” wide and houses the bullet.
The top of the Butterfly is open and holds a semi-removable battery compartment which fits snugly but isn’t too hard to remove and replace. This compartment is attached with wires to the bullet, and you should be careful not to pull it out too far (you can take it out all the way, but don’t pull or overly stretch the wires). The compartment holds 2 AAA batteries, which are easy to both insert and remove.
The remote for the Butterfly is compact, and just 2 1/4" by 1 5/8” and 1/2” thick. It takes a 12V battery which is easy to insert in the back. The remote has a small switch which flips to on and off and a red LED light indicates if the Butterfly is turned on or not. The remote is made of ABS plastic.
The Butterfly can be controlled from around 15 feet. When it’s turned on the abdomen vibrates at a low/moderate intensity. All of the vibrations are concentrated here and they don’t travel through the rest of the toy. Since the abdomen doesn’t sit directly on your clit but above it, and the mostly buzzy vibrations tickle and tease like butterfly wings flapping against your skin. It is fairly quiet, although not silent. If you do wear this out in public the buzzing will be unnoticeable in a bar but probably obvious in a quiet restaurant or a library.
Since the Butterfly is made of PVC it can’t be sterilized. It should be washed both before and after use with antibacterial soap and warm water or a toy cleaner and patted dry. Be very careful not to get water into the top as the water can get down by the bullet and damage the connections. The straps can be gently cleaned with soap and water, or they can be completely removed and washed in a lingerie bag in the washer. The straps can be drip-dried and then reattached. The Butterfly should be stored in a cool, dark location away from other toys.
While this isn’t a toy that needs lubricant, the material is compatible with both water-based and silicone lubes. It won’t be damaged by coming into contact with either.

Experience
My husband saw “Remote” on the box and got a bit giddy, but he was a bit disappointed that there was only one button for on and off (he has more fun using the toy remotes to change patterns and vibrations on me). Still it was a remote, so he was ready to try it. We found that the remote isn’t so much for the “Surprise! Handle this in public!” aspect, but rather to avoid having to figure out what to do with a corded control when wearing this one.
The size of the Butterfly hampers wearing it under clothes. It will go under a skirt just fine, but there’s no way to wear pants or shorts with this on. It’s fine, however, with lingerie or nothing else at all, and does stay in place fine during intercourse or even just walking around.
I really liked the strap style of this. I have always struggled with the strap-on toys that have leg loops. The g-string style is much easier to put on, and it did work to keep the Butterfly in place. The g-string is easily slipped to the side for penetration.
I would have preferred more power in the bullet. Since the abdomen hits me above my clit, it’s not as direct of stimulation as I would like, but it is a pleasant tease during foreplay.
Overall, this one isn’t bad, but it’s the weakness of the bullet and the placement that don’t make this a real winner for me.

Thank you for viewing Remote control butterfly – strap-on vibrator review page!
That would be ideal, although I'm not sure with the placement how much stronger it would make it.
