On the cord is a small control pad. These controls are extremely easy to use. On the control pad, there are 3 buttons. Press the middle button once to turn the bullet on.

Above is a button with a plus sign - press it to increase the intensity. Below is a button with a minus sign - press this to decrease the intensity. You can use these two buttons to go through the 6 intensity levels.

Once on, you can switch through different patterns by pressing the middle button. Not only can you select different patters, you can also use the +/- buttons to adjust the intesity if the patterns. There are 5 patterns total and rotate back to the beginning as you press the button to cycle through.

To turn the bullet off, you hold in the middle button.

The volume of the bullet depends on the intensity. The higher the intensity, the louder it gets. As far as vibrating toys go, the volume isn't very loud on the mild settings.

Personally, I'm horrible at remembering to pick up batteries. I absolutely love that this one does not need them! I do hate when a good strong bullet weakens due to needing new batteries. Talk about a buzz kill. This bullet is perfect!
