Touted as the “Cadillac of Vibrators” in a couple reviews thus far, the Hitachi successfully lives up to the title through its durability and versatility. Due to its well earned fame and reputation, there are even subpar quality knockoffs that must be avoided to ensure you get the real experience that its known for. EdenFantasys sells the real deal, and the experience of getting the famous toy justifies the price tag tenfold.

I bought the Hitachi Wand Original in 2013, so I now have over a year of experience with this vibrating toy while writing this review. Good news: the toy is still in excellent working condition, and operates almost as if right out of the box. Due to it being plugged into the wall, you do not have to worry about rechargable battery life or any other parts getting lost; as long as you have a wall outlet in your bedroom (or room of choice), and the power isn’t out, the Hitachi Magic Wand diligently keeps going and going and going…

And an ever growing collection of attachments keeps it fresh. For those who find the vibrations of this vibrator too strong, some attachments can dull the vibrations; for those on the other side of the spectrum, there exist attachments which concentrate the vibrations into a nub. I prefer my Hitachi Magic Wand by itself, as its spherical-barrel shape allows me to use the broad side or the edge to vary the vibrations more than well enough to my liking.

However, it is not subtle. If you are a university student and living in a dorm, this isn't the optimal vibrator. It is not only self-consciously loud, but due to it needing to be plugged into a wall there is no way to quickly hide it. I had the fortune to have an absent roommate, and moved into an apartment shortly after, which allowed me more privacy. This might be the motivation to move off campus. It's that good. Due to its reputation, I still wouldn't leave it out; due to its reputation the “it's a massager” excuse might not fly — a gay male friend of mine was not oblivious to what this product is commonly used for, and we had a good laugh about it, but if you live in a studio like myself where your bedroom is also in your living room? Time to invest in a good container to keep your “personal massagers” in.
