Oh, what a wonderful wand this is! It has a multitude of uses in and out of the bedroom. For everyday use out of the bedroom, this makes a great overall body massager. The penetrating vibrations feel amazing on sore muscles, especially the feet, knees, and back. This will not make severe pain disappear, but it will take care of tight overworked muscles. Keep in mind that this is a large, and somewhat bulky massager, so those with wrist problems may have difficulties holding this up for long periods of time. The massager is pretty top heavy, so strain does occur to the wrist when using it. When using this massager for the above purposes, Lelo's Smart Wand is perfect for beginners to advanced users.
This thing is a beast when it comes to using this for bedroom play. I say this because the vibrations are deep and powerful. I have never felt anything like it. The wand can be used on the clit, but the large head will vibrate everything it comes into contact with. This is best served as a broad stimulator. There is no way, that I have found, to get pinpoint stimulation with this wand. The broad head makes everything a little more sensitive and overwhelming. Just as this can be used for body massages, this can be used to stimulate and pleasure any erogenous zone you can think of. The head can be used for penetration, vaginally or anally, but it is very large and most will not be able to use it this way. I know I can't. The flexible neck and head are completely covered with silicone, so it makes this waterproof and anal safe. The head, if you can make it fit, would make a delicious vibrating anal plug (the head and neck). Even if you can't insert this anally, it feels awesome as an external anus vibrator/teaser. I had Bob (Lelo's prostate toy) in my last night, and my hubby turned it into a vibrating machine by touching this wand to the base of Bob.
This wand is waterproof up to a certain degree. The body is completely waterproof, but there is an open charing port located at the bottom of handle. Lelo says that this is a waterproof open charging port. I am just not comfortable with getting this part wet. I would say that this could be taken into the shower, but I would not fully submerge this in a bathtub. The large size and jackhammer vibrations may seem intimidating to beginners when it comes to using it for sexual purposes, but this is perfect for anyone who is willing to give it a shot.
The entire toy is luxurious and would absolutely make an excellent gift. The toy could be used for masturbatory reasons during solo play. It can also be used for orgasm torture when playing with a partner. Although this is too big to fit between two bodies, it makes a wonderful foreplay tool. This is just a perfect all around toy except that it is way too big for travel. I would take my Smart Wand Medium instead.

Most of the toy is covered in body safe purple silicone. Silicone is just one of those all around amazing materials. It is non-porous, which means that it will not harbor any bacteria. It is also hypo-allergenic and latex/phthalates free. It arrived with a faint "new silicone toy" smell. I could only smell it when it was right underneath my nose, and it quickly faded away. The silicone never had a taste though. Lelo's silicone feels velvety and has very little drag. The entire toy is rigid and unmoving except for the flexible neck below the vibrating head. Even the flexible neck is not as flexible as it could be. It takes a lot of pressure to get it to move even a little, but this is perfect for those who need to apply a lot of pressure in order to have an orgasm. It also stands up to pressure during a nice deep massage, so I guess the firm neck has its positives and negatives. The controls are even underneath the silicone skin, which helps the toy stay waterproof. The silicone skin is very taut over the inner workings, but the silicone can be pulled and pushed in at the neck. I can see the tiniest bit of seam on the sides of the toy, but it cannot be felt at all. Other than that and the raised control panel, there is no texture whatsoever. The head is completely smooth and soft. The only possible downside to silicone is that only water based lubricants can be used with it.
The handle has a gold ABS plastic section. It helps the toy achieve that glossy, polished look. Plastic has no smells or tastes, and it has all the same great features (non-porous, etc.) of silicone. The plastic is smooth and shiny, and this can potentially make slippery fingers harder to hold onto. This handle has the name Lelo etched into it at the top, and they can collect fluids every once in a while.

This wand has the same shape and design that can be found in dozens of other wand massagers. It has a large, blunt head that is perfect for broad stimulation. It covers a large amount of skin, and this means that it can massage a large patch of pained muscle. The head immediately and drastically tapers down into the neck. The neck can be flexed in any direction. Be aware that it doesn't flex a whole lot, but it works okay. The rest of the massager is the handle with the control panel right underneath the neck.
I know that a bunch of people wanted a review that compared the large and medium Smart Wands, so I decided to buy both and grant those wishes! I even took some pictures comparing the two. First of all, I just want to say that for the record I did not expect there to be such a huge difference when it came to these wands.
The biggest difference between these two is, of course, the size. The large has a total length of 12 inches, and the medium measures 8 5/8" in total length. The Medium's neck is more flexible than that of the Large wand. The large wand's head has a 2 1/4" diameter, but the medium's head only has a 1 5/8" diameter.



The second most noticeable difference is the vibration quality and quantity. The large wand has very, very deep vibrations. I can feel the vibrations all the way down into my muscles. It is very relaxing even when it feels like it could vibrate my clit off. The medium wand has somewhat deep vibrations, but they feel buzzy towards the highest settings. Also, the medium does not stand up to pressure well at all. I need pressure to orgasm clitorally, but the vibrations diminished greatly when I tried to apply that pressure. The large wand is a totally different situation. I can apply as much pressure as I possibly can, and the vibrations continue to vibrate at the intensity I had set it to. I can still orgasm with the medium wand, but it takes a lot longer. The orgasms don't feel as deep or instense either. The large wand does carry some extra bulk and weight, but it also delivers better vibrations. If I want pinpoint stimulation, I go to the medium. I guess I am caught between two great wands. What a fantastic dilema!

Before playtime can begin, the Lelo Smart Wand large needs to be charged for two hours. Simply plug the charger into the open charging port at the bottom of the handle. While it is charging, a light will blink around the control buttons. When charge is complete, this light will shine steady. A full charge will give you up to two hours of play. This number depends on the level you play at. It will have a shorter time if it is constantly on high. When the wand is running low on juice, the lights around the controls will blink. This toy can be locked for travel by pressing and holding the + and - buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds. Repeat this process to unlock it as well. This is a little louder than most Lelo toys, but it is still very quiet for such a powerful thing! I cannot hear it through a closed door when it is on its highest setting.
There are three buttons on the front of the wand: +, -, (). To increase the pattern intensity and to turn the toy on, press the + button. To turn the intensity down, press the - button. You can also press and hold the - button in order to turn the toy off completely. When you first turn the toy on, it will be in steady vibration mode. To get to the patterns, press the () button once. You can increase and decrease the intensity of each pattern, which is very cool. The following are your patterns:
1.) Long, slow pulses with a short break in between each pulse
2.) Long, fast pulses
3.) Short, rapid pulses
4.) Escalating fast from low to high
5.) Rollercoaster vibes (low to high, back down to low)
6.) Escalating pulses (low to high)
7.) Chaos mode (no pattern detected)
8.) Back to steady vibrations
Along with all of these amazing patterns, Lelo's wands come with Sense Motion Technology. To turn this mode on, press and hold the () button until the lights start to blink. Do the same thing to turn this mode off. I have found that it does not matter which pattern you are on when it comes to this function. Sense mode can be turned on at any time. While it is in Sense mode, you can press the () again to change the pattern just like you would if it was in regular mode. What I am trying to say is that the patterns can also be used in the Sense mode as well. It doesn't just work with steady vibrations. I thought this was super cool. You might be wondering what Sense mode is. Well, Sense mode turns the head of this toy into a senstive massager. If the head is not touching skin, then it will idle in the lowest intensity. When it comes into contact with skin, the intenisty increases. This is perfect when using this as a teasing tool, or orgasm torture tool, as the longer you make this touch your skin the more intense the vibrations become until it reaches the highest level possible (this usually takes only 3-5 seconds to achieve)! If using this as a torture device, this really saves the battery and it makes this last longer! What a win-win situation. I have said it before and I will again: the vibes on this thing is ridiculous! When I hold this, I can feel the deep vibes travel all the way down the handle and into my elbow. After a long session, my lady parts and my hand are usually throbbing from the intense vibes. It could make sensitive users feel irritated or sometimes numb. I love this overwhelming piece of genius!

Although Lelo claims that this is completely waterproof, I am not comfortable enough to put the open charging port underneath a running faucet. Instead, I usually wipe this down with one of my Eden toy wipes. The port is easily covered with my thumb, so if it needed a thorough cleaning, I would clean this with warm water and antibacterial soap. Lelo also sells some nice toy cleaner as well. Lelo includes a list of things to do and not to do. For example, do not boil this product. Do not use lotions or silicone lubes with this wand. Do not leave or store this in direct sunlight. You get the picture. The control buttons and the Lelo brand on the handle tends to collect fluids, so pay extra attention to these areas! Since Lelo was so nice to supply a large enough pouch, I definitely store my toy in it! I suggest you do the same. It would be hard to find a large, nice pouch to store it in, so thanks Lelo.

Lelo definitely doesn't skimp on the packaging department. When you buy a Lelo toy, you can bet your bottom that you are going to receive a luxurious package. This has to be the largest Lelo packaging ever, but all of that room is needed to house the large size of the Smart Wand. The thin, outer sleeve tells the user some of the toy's specifics. It also gives a few pictures to help someone get a better image of what the toy inside looks like and can do. While it is not the most discreet, it is absolutely classy and well done. The inside box is very thick and sturdy. Unlike most Lelo boxes, this one is white and very gorgeous. It has the Lelo name on top of the box, but that is it. I will keep the box for as long as I can because it is very discreet and large enough to store other toys. Once the lid is lifted, you will instantly see your wand, the insignia pin, and a large covered compartment with the Lelo name on top. Inside this compartment are the storage pouch, charger, user's manual, and the 1 year warranty/10 year guarantee. The storage pouch is very different from the usual black silky pouches that Lelo is known for. Instead, this one is very thick and padded. It reminds me of my laptop bag. It feels like cloth not silk, and it has a distinct smell right out of the box. The smell transfers onto the toy, but it soon disappears. I love this pouch because it is actually large enough to fit my large wand and the charger. If I leave the charger out, I can fit both the medium and large wands in there! It has a nice overlapping piece of material that helps keep the toy from falling out. Luxurious indeed!

Lelo also includes a cute little pin in the shape of the buttons. It looks like an elongated infinity sign. This pin has held up a lot better so far than the one that came with my Insignia Soraya. I personally do not wear pins, and I do not have a use for this. It is a beautiful pin and a wonderful addition, but I could have done without it.
