The Forbidden Fruit by Rianne S. is a unique sensual couples vibrator in the shape of an apple. This toy works well over the entire body and as added genital stimulation, but may not be enough for solo play by itself depending on your anatomy and vibration preferences.

The Forbidden Fruit is made of food grade latex and Phthalates free, non-porous, smooth plastic. The toy has a seam around its middle, but it is very smooth and not sharp at all; just a little smoothly raised equator.

The two metal charging contacts tend to warm up during use, but not to a painful or uncomfortable degree, and they are tucked up and away in an indent.

The Forbidden Fruit fits nicely in the palm of a hand. It's about 3.5 inches in diameter at its widest and about 3.25 inches long. The toy is very light with the weight slightly concentrated at the base where the charging connections are - this seems to be where the motor is located. On the "front" of the apple, "RS:" appears in gold. The control stick is a little green stem and is soft to the touch and has a fair amount of drag that is good for gripping with the tip of a finger.



As you might guess, this toy offers spread-out, diffuse vibrations instead of pin-point ones.

A good size comparison would be to a baseball. This toy would easily fit in luggage and perhaps in a larger purse or tote-bag and can easily be travel-locked by holding the control stem down for 5 seconds (and is unlocked the same way). However, for extended travel, you must bring the base and power cord, as well. The base has a fair weight to it and feels heavier than the toy itself.

The Forbidden Fruit is very discreet and the charging base even comes with a cover to completely hide it. By itself, this is one of the most discreet vibrators on the market, already.

The Forbidden Fruit is controlled by the green "stem" on its top. To select and intensity or function, you press the stem in one of four directions, market by shaped indents on the apple itself. Assuming that the RS: logo marks 6 o'clock, the controls are as follows : the "+" button resides at noon and the "-" at 6 o'clock. Tapping these will make the intensity of vibration go up or down.

There are five levels of vibration and they are very different from a typical vibrator. I can hear and feel that the motor is very powerful and working at a low and rumbly hum. However, the vibrations themselves transmit through the toy to produce a shallow and buzzy sensation. The vibrations, even on the highest setting, do not penetrate the skin very far and I feel that we are not getting the most of what the motor has to offer.

At the 3 o'clock position is "~" button. This button activates and cycles through three escalating wave patterns. Each is a simple rise and fall, the first going slowly and the last quite quick. At the 9 o'clock is the ".." button. This button activates and cycles through the three staccato pulsation patterns. Like the escalations, the first is a moderate pulse and the third is very quick.

Each pattern can be be varied in intensity with the + and - buttons giving a very wide range of function and the ability to find exactly what you'd like.

I like the controls and I think the "~" and ".." symbols are very intuitive. I just wish that perhaps the "+" was raised so that you could get your bearing without looking at the toy. It's difficult to change settings with any accuracy unless you can see the symbols. Another reason this toy is best suited to couples play, your partner can be looking and controlling it while you sit back and don't have to think.


The toy is slightly loud and makes a very strange and beautiful noise. It produces an odd musical and metallic hum. It's louder than I'd like, but there's something weirdly alluring about it.

The Forbidden Fruit is recommended to be cleaned with soap and water; anything harsher, such as an isoproyl alcohol solution, is at your own risk. As the manual advises not bringing the charging connections in contact with liquid, it would be safest to use a damp cloth for this task. It is also advised not to submerge the charging base if cleaning it and to simply wipe down with a cloth.

It is recommended, as per the manufacturer, that you only use water-based lubricants with this toy and avoid any coming in contact with the charging connections.

For storage, you have many options. There is the charging base and cover which you can unplug when charging is completed. The Forbidden Fruit also comes with a very nice nude-color bag with "Rianne S" printed in gold. The material is a nice stretchy fabric to easily accommodate the toy. This makes it easy to keep the toy in a cool, dark and dry place.

The main box is a lovely shade of purple with "Rianne S" in gold on the top. The box is held shut by a glossy paper band which mentions a few of the toy's features and very nice high-quality promotional artwork. Inside the box, the toy is on the right, inside the charging case. The left opens up to reveal the toy bag, charging plug and adapters for different countries: USA, UK, Europe, and Australia. It took a bit of fiddling to get the adapter on the plug base, but once it was on correctly, it was very secure. This side also contains a very informative manual that walks you through everything a first-time user would need to know, a high-quality glossy book of promotional information and artwork, and an envelope containing warranty information.



The packaging is very nice and certainly stylish. Once the paper band is removed, the box is completely discreet. It's lovely and would make a great giftbox.

Unfortunately, I could not use this toy to reach orgasm alone. The vibrations just do not suit me, they were not deep enough to penetrate to the places I need them to. It came close at times, but never was able to push me over that edge. I would note that I do need quite powerful vibrations to orgasm by myself and this might work better for someone who doesn't need so much to climax and doesn't mind that it isn't pinpoint stimulation.

The Forbidden Fruit vibrates all-over, but is strongest at the base where the charging points are. You can get a bit more direct stimulation from this area, but you might get the charging connections pressed against you which might deliver some unexpected and unwanted heat.

However, the Forbidden Fruit is great for all sorts of creative use. It's lovely to roll over the body and lends itself very naturally to partner play where the toy is not going to be expected to do all the work on its own.
