I bought the Diamond Butterfly because of its stunning beauty, and thats what I got; a beautiful toy. Unfortunately, my eye balls do not orgasm. As much as I love thrusting beauty into my vagina, this is not really a thrusting toy. You are supposed to be able to lie back and let the rabbit vibrator do its job. Diamond Butterfly does not achieve this goal.
The Diamond Butterfly is a stunningly beautiful rabbit vibrator that is used for dual stimulation of the clitoris and vagina. Rabbit vibrators are generally very popular with women and used vaginally, but if so needed it could be used anally as it has a safe base with a built in butterfly shaped blocker that would not let the vibrator get lost in the wild blue yonder.
Rabbit vibrators can be used in couples play, which is preferable to most ladies as the bases on most rabbits are rather large and bulky causing them to become very heavy on the wrist holding it after a short while of using. Of course, many women use rabbits solo because they are so stimulating to several areas at once. It is hard to beat the magic feeling of a rabbit that both reaches the clitoris and has strong internal gyration and vibration. You can just lie back and enjoy the blissful sensations. The base may be easily propped up with pillows or even more effectively used in Liberator Gear such as the BonBon.
The Diamond Butterfly rabbit is no exception to the statements above. It is more visually stunning than most rabbits out there, but must still fulfill the requirements of a dual stimulator: to both reach the clitoris and have enough stamina to satisfactorily stimulate a woman inside and out.
The insertable portion of Diamond Butterfly as well as the clitoral stimulator is made of TPE, a Thermal Plastic Elastomer material which is basically a rubber blend that rates in on Edens safety meter as a 6. Better than jelly while still getting a soft jelly feel. TPE is latex and phthalates free and is hypo-allergenic. TPE is porous, so be sure to use a condom if sharing. The base and control panel are made of hard plastic.
The smell is lemony and pleasant. I am always surprised at the fragrance added to some TPE toys. Much better than a rubbery chemical smell.
The texture is smooth and sleek. There are small indentations on the head to making it look more realistic penis like, but these are not felt during penetration. The material encasing the beads is very thin for maximum feel ability. The shaft is flexible but you should not flex it because there is a rod inside controlling the rotation motion.
The look is simply wonderful for a rabbit vibrator. It is bright and shiny, elegant and feminine. The head is clear so that you can see the shiny silver beads inside. There are 2 rows of rhinestones above the base, which is white. The clitoral attachment, which is butterfly shaped, is also transparent, so you can see the silver bullet inside. Very classy. Visually stunning. The shaft is straight and is not made for G-Spot stimulation, but is a satisfying size. The butterfly actually did hit my clit and worked excellently. However, the shaft was highly disappointing. The rotation and vibration was weak. The beads could not withstand the slightest clench of my vaginal muscles. Did not jam the beads but simply stopped altogether until I unclenched my muscles. When using the rotation/vibration feature, the clitoral stimulator lost power and did not feel very strong at all. Ladies, beauty is only skin deep. This old adage sums up the Diamond Butterfly.
Virtually anyone could use this toy, but I do not recommend it. It just does not perform well. If California Exotics had put the ingenuity and workmanship into making the toy work that they put into making this toy beautiful; we would have a 5 star winner here.
The large size of this toy makes it harder to hide and travel with, although you could reasonably do so in a suitcase.
Anyone seeing the toy would know that it is a sex toy. A darned pretty one.
Okay, the worst of it has been said. I will now move on to the functions...
The control panel is located in front of the base of the toy and is easy to reach and use. At the top of the control are 6 indicator lights. 3 for the levels of vibration/rotation and 3 for the levels of clitoral stimulation. This makes it easy for a partner to know what levels you are experiencing, but are of little use to the soloist because you can't see them down there. Below the lights is a round button which will reverse the direction of rotation. It always starts off counter clockwise; click the button and it will go clockwise. Beneath this are 4 triangular buttons. The 2 on the left control vibration/rotation and the 2 on the right control the clitoral butterfly.
The Diamond Butterfly has 3 levels of increasing speeds; Low- 1 vroom 2 bees, Medium- 2 vrooms 3 bees and High- 3 vrooms 4 bees.
Click the reverse button and have Low, Medium and High in reverse. Or back and forth if you wish.
The clitoral butterfly is amazing and a lot stronger than the shaft action especially if used alone. High is 4 vrooms, 4 bees. If all functions are used it has a power draining effect on the toy and nothing is very strong at all. So, if the clitoral butterfly fits and reaches your clit, and you use it alone, you've got yourself a gorgeous clit stimulator.
To insert the 3 AA batteries required; unscrew the bottom of the base. There is a convenient battery tray that slips out to put them in and it also makes sure that the batteries can not go back into the toy unless the tray is put in the right way. I really like this feature and wish all battery powered toys had it. It will come in handy for anyone using this toy because it eats batteries. The first time I used this toy; I put fresh batteries in and had to replace them half way through. The next 3 times I just went on until they died, about 15 minutes.
I didn't water test this toy; it just seems too fragile as it is and I do not trust that it is waterproof. It is most certainly splash proof and I had no problems cleaning it.
To clean, use mild soap and warm water before and after use. Dry with a lint free cloth. TPE can't be sterilized. Either use a condom or keep this one to yourself.
Keep this toy away from your silicone toys. It does not get along with jelly toys either. TPE leeches from your silicone and jelly leeches from TPE. It is best to keep this toy by itself in a cool dark place. Maybe in a large cloth bag.
According to California Exotics, use water based lubes only with this toy.
The clear plastic packaging states in big bold letters that this toy is a "Girls Best Friend" making you think about the song by Marilyn Monroe. Again playing up the beauty of the toy, but as the same song says "we all lose our charms in the end." We must have something to back up good looks. Diamond Butterfly fails in that department. Made in China.
Very informative
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it3 months after original review
This toy never did do it for me. I just pulled it out after months of not using it and the story is still the same. I was struck once more with its beauty, but it still hasn't gotten any better at giving me pleasure. Still freezes up with a small clench of my muscles. Still weak in vibration. It's a shame such a pretty vibrator doesn't work well.
