An impressive contender in the massager-style vibrator wars
If you need rumbly power, this is your vibe. While it's not quite Hitachi level, it also won't numb you much unless it's used for an extensive period of time. The buttons are good; I don't find myself frustrated with use of them or placement. For a powerful vibrator it's fairly discreet (unless you share a room). Whisper-quiet? No. But no rattles or clicky buttons or weed-whacker-like noise levels.

Pros
Powerful, great vibration pitch (rumbly), a power button!, silicon head.
Cons
Ridges make for difficult cleaning
I have to admit to not always being “green”. I like batteries in my toys. Sure I like cords, too, (because they equal powerful vibrations) but I like batteries. You know why? Because I almost always have a bunch on hand and immediately my toy is ready for action again, unlike rechargeables. The original Mystic Wand uses batteries (4 AA) and gives an impressive level of intensity with that rumbly, deep vibration I love. I don’t find that my skin gets itchy from using it too long, like the Hitachi can. Another thing that I noticed: that blue light isn’t just for pretty looks; when my batteries are dying, it blinks. But then, I can already tell they’re dying because I notice the lack of power.
A note regarding the power rating (Vroom) given: Yes, it's pretty darn powerful; not the most but it's stronger than any Lelo vibe, for sure. I think that on high it *might* be worthy of 5 Vrooms, but because it offers lower power settings, I gave it a 4. This is one of the many times I wish they had half-bar ratings here. More comparison: I'd rate the Hitachi and the plug-in style large Fairy Wand both as a full 5 Vrooms because they're intense on just about any level.
The really important bits without the fluff:
Silicone and plastic: The head, neck and control pads are all made out of true silicone; the body is plastic coated with a velvety soft texture.
Silicone that isn’t a magnet for pet fur and lint!: The silicone is different from the type used in mold/poured dildos and vibrators; it has a soft feel, matte finish and won’t attract fur.
Splashproof: Vibratex doesn't fully back up being waterproof but they are splashproof. This means that you can safely take it in the shower, but don’t submerge it. You can wash it under running water.
Flexible Neck: Like any massager-style vibrator, the neck has some flex. Unlike the Hitachi or the Ideal the neck is encased in silicone. I always used to worry about the Hitachi neck being so exposed.
Ridges on the head & neck: The neck obviously has to have ridges to allow movement. The head though….I will never understand this design method. I’ve seen it in many different types of vibrators. Ridges don’t add anything (to me) as far as stimulation is concerned, they just make it a lot more difficult to clean. (Especially if you’re using masturbation as a means of relaxing enough to fall asleep and leave the cleaning till morning.) Either way, I have to use my fingernail to go around the ridges, or an old toothbrush. I'll be purchasing a Tenga Egg soon as a head cover to make cleaning easier.
3 levels of intensity and 3 patterns: The power button turns it to steady-low. The F button above the power button will cycle through the settings. In order to help you or your partner know what power level you're on, the small light above the buttons goes (lowest to highest) Yellow, Orange and Red.
Clear plastic “box” not ideal for storage: These are the flimsy type of plastic, and they don’t stay shut very well. Easily smushable. Yes that's a word.
Storage bag: It's not fancy, but it does the job. Simple drawstring closure, vinyl lining (think windbreaker jacket material), and a “velvet” flock that hangs onto pet fur and dust like you wouldn't believe. For travel, you can take out one battery, and even have room in there for 4 more batteries.
Lube: Only water-based lube, please!
Good size/weight: Easier to hold/lighter than the Hitachi or full-size Acuvibe. About 8" or so in overall length and maybe 7 ounces give or take.
Bottom line: Is it worth the price? I'd say yes. It performs very well, I have only one complaint (and it has a fix), quality materials and seems to be well made. It actually does nicely when used as a body massager (but please, learn from my idiot mistakes: don't massage your neck with it on high. I might still have fuzzy vision from that).

Experience
I actually have a review up on my blog that is a (very long) compare and contrast between all three Vibratex massager-style vibes (this one, Mystic rechargeable, and Mini Magic Wand). It's a really great way to choose which Wand you want to buy if you have to choose just one. It's also a pretty good companion review to this one (most of the content here about the Mystic Wand will be repeated in the comparison review, just FYI) as I've also included some photos and soon will update it with a video showing the noise level comparisons.
As for my experience with the Mystic - I am both pleasantly surprised and glad I purchased it. This is probably the first vibrator that I bought on my own in the last year or so that I'm 100% happy with.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
Second only to my favorite style of clitoral vibrator (the wired bullet) this has become my favorite of all the wand massagers. Even though it feels weird to call it a wand massager because it takes batteries. I can't believe I waited so long to try this thing!

Thanks for the review. Massaging your neck with the wand on high gave you fuzzy vision? That sounds freaky!

Thanks for the quick, no-frills rundown! As for the design, I'm surprised the ridges on the head don't add any significant stimulation. Cleaning them does sound like a chore. I wonder how well the Tenga Egg will fit over it? I've heard they have pretty high elasticity, so it should work.
