This toy is excellent for full all over external stimulation, and its vibrations carry through very well. It can't be used it internally, but it can be felt internally. Just rest it atop the pubic mound, against the vagina, or even against the anus. And the higher the stronger the vibration setting, the deeper it can be felt.

It's made from silicone and has a plastic piece that lines the inner curve of the handle. The silicone is very smooth to the touch and runs effortlessly over dry skin. It is also firm without being hard. The plastic is also smooth, and where the silicone and plastic meet is a barely noticeable seam.

The Lelo Smart Wand has a clean simple design that is attractive to look at and comfortable to wield. Its handle is ergonomically curved to fit comfortably in hand and make it easier to reach back to massage those otherwise tricky areas of self massage. I can easily reach my mid to lower back without having to strain to reach or twist unnecessarily.


The head doesn't cover as much surface area as its larger counterpart, or its larger competitor products. However I consider that to be a plus considering all this wand does is terms of vibrations. The neck of the head does have some flexibility to it, not that one needs to apply that much pressure during use.

The toy has three buttons in the handle. A plus (+), closed parentheses(), and a minus (-).

Pressing down the plus or minus turns it on and off, and lets you cycle through the vibrations strengths. Holding down the plus and minus at the same time 'locks' the toy, making it safe for travel without fear of it accidentally turning on. To unlock simply press them again.

The parentheses lets you cycle through the different patterns. I counted eight and the varying vibration strengths can be applied to all, allowing you to find your perfect combo.

Holding down the parentheses also lets you turn on and off the smart touch feature. When the smart touch feature is on, the vibrations go down when the toy isn't pressed directly to the skin. This is nice because it helps preserve the charge. And this is where the 'smart' comes into play with this wand. While testing this feature against my palm, the wand would sense my hand and increase its vibrations just before contact was actually made.

The vibration is combination of rumble and buzz, with the buzz becoming greater as the vibration strength is increased.

The wand is rechargeable with its charging port in the base of the handle. When the charge is low lights set around the buttons are visible flickering through the silicone. When plugged in these lights blink to let you know the wand is charging and then glow steady once charging is complete.

A full charge takes about two hours and lasts about as long for use depending on pulse pattern and strength.

Thanks to the nature of the open charging port, the wand is 100% waterproof, so feel free to take it into the tub or shower.

It's waterproof and easily cleaned using soap and warm water by hand, or any toy cleaner. But this is not something you want to send through the dishwasher or boil. You could ruin the internal mechanics of the wand.

Also, if pairing it with a lube, make sure to use water or oil based only.

As for storage, the box it comes in works perfectly with its foam fitted lining and compartment to hold the charger and all associated product pamphlets. Or if space is a concern, or it is being taken along for travel, it also comes with a drawstring pouch.

This was my 2012 Christmas present to myself when it went on sale, and I absolutely love it. It comes in handy when I need to unwind after a long day. I got it because I was curious about its use as personal massager, more than I was curious about its use as a sex toy. I do primarily use mine to massage my neck, shoulders, and lower back when they are sore.

Every now and again I turn it on to the slower of its two rising pulse patterns and just enjoy the ebb and flow of vibrations through my sensitive parts.

I haven't tried taking it into the shower or tub with me yet, so I have no idea if having the toy under water has any effect on the vibration strength and patterns. It is something I will keep in mind for my follow up review, but I doubt my roommates will appreciate me hogging the bathroom while I test its waterproof function and performance ;)

But whether using it for sexual pleasure, personal massage, or both, I highly recommend this wand. It's an excellent product and everyone should have one.
