What Maid?
The red maid corset is breathtaking, though more breathtaking off me than on. It really doesn't shape or hide anything. The boning is merely decorative and the material is very form fitting (spandex). However, the actual corset is well made and beautiful.

Design
The Red Maid Corset is designed to evoke images of the traditional french maid costume, in red. I'm not really sure how this is supposed to resemble a maid's uniform, except for maybe the head piece. But take the head piece away and you're left with a gorgeous corset. Not very maid like, but still sexy.
The corset is a true, bright red with white lace trimmings, red ribbon, white garters and straps, and white bows. It comes with a head band that is white with a red piece of fabric trimmed with white lace.
The corset is made of nylon and spandex which needs to be hand washed. It is closed with three columns of hooks and eyes. The boning is very minimal and only includes 5 plastic 'bones' running down the front. These bones are covered with lace and ribbon.
The cups are lightly padded, but there is no underwire. The corset comes with both straps and garters that are detachable. The garters are metal garters, not plastic. There are three white bows that are all detachable via safety pin.
The headband is a plastic headband covered in fabric with piece of fabric that sticks up, stiffly. The headband is red with white trimmings.
Fit
Being spandex, this corset is VERY stretchy. It is also a very thin, body hugging material. It doesn't cinch the waist. If you're looking for 'shapewear' that will help hide, then this is not the piece. It hugs EVERY curve. It's not really a functional corset, but a decorative one. The boning is flimsy and the material is flexible.
The size chart is quite accurate.
Coquette's Size Chart
Large: Sizes: 14 - 12
Cup Size: C
Bust: 38 - 40
Waist: 30 - 32
Hips: 40 - 42
I am currently a 36 DD and with wait 32 and hips 40. My breasts don't really fit into the cups. It's an awkward fit at best. However, while I know and feel that they don't fit, it doesn't really show. My breasts are bigger than the size chart and I feel a C would easily fit inside the cups.
The cups do not shape. There is some light padding, but no push up at all. The padding provided enough support for me, but underwire would have helped.
The spandex really doesn't hide anything. The color is bright and the solidness of the red color helps hide a little, but the spandex/polyester does cling to every bulge and curve. The front is decorated with the lace and ribbon, which helps conceal the stomach a little, but the back and the sides are completely unboned and undecorated.
Quality
The quality of the piece was above average. There were some loose thread and a few seams that were coming apart, but overall the material and the craftsmanship is good. The lace doesn't really touch the skin, but feels a bit scratchy. However, once on, this isn't a big problem. The straps and garters are rather unimpressive, especially the straps. However, the metal clips on the garters are very sturdy, much better than plastic.
The polyester/spandex material is soft...very soft! It's extremely comfortable on the skin. The material seems to be very sturdy as well.
The head band is a bit cheap, like your dollar store headband, and is made to be a prop. It is certainly stiff enough to stay up, like the head piece of maid (do maids even wear them anymore?) and serves that purpose well.

Nice review! I agree. I'm not sure what about it is meant to be maid-like.
