"Wet Look Bustier with [no] Padded [and no] Cups"
The Wet Look Bustier by Coquette is a cute and comfortable piece. The name of the piece on the product page is "Wet look bustier with padded cups" but the bustier actually doesn't have any padding or cups to it. Personally, I don't mind that there is no padding or cups but I figured it's worth mentioning. The only real issue I had with the bustier is that the shoulder straps are not adjustable. It's a great bustier but it could use a few improvements.

Pros
Inexpensive, comfortable, length, stretchy, long lacing at centre back for width adjusting.
Cons
no cups, no padding, no modesty panel beneath hook and eyes, straps not adjustable.
The Wet Look Bustier with padded cups by Coquette is available in sizes S, L, XL, and 1X/2X. I purchased the size XL bustier. I’m always on the look out for corsets and bustiers that I can wear in public beneath a cardigan or shrug. This corset looked lengthy and opaque so I thought it was worth a shot.
The bustier arrived on a clear plastic hanger and the piece was surrounded by plastic. There was a cardboard tag attached to the bustier. The tag had a few photos of a model wearing the bustier and stated information such as the company name, website, product name, and size. The included hanger is good to use for storing the bustier in a closet.
The bustier is 80% nylon and 20% spandex. The material is stretchy and not sheer. The piece does not become sheer the more it is stretched. The centre back of the bustier laces up with a long black ribbon. There is no panel of fabric beneath the lacing so the more width you need to add, the more skin will be exposed.
I’ve taken measurements of the bustier laying flat, unstretched. The lacing down the centre back was done up fully (so no skin would be exposed if it was worn). With the lacing done up tightly, there is 57 ½ inches of lace to tie into a bow. This means that there is quite a bit of lace to add width if you need it. If you need any additional measurements, send me a message and I’ll get them for you.
Shoulder strap length: 16 ¾ inches each
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 inches
Waist: 15 ¾ inches
Width at bottom of bustier: 17 inches
Length (armpit to bottom): 13 ½ inches
Length (down centre back): 12 inches
There are 16 silver coloured metal hook and eye closures down the centre front of the bustier. The hook and eye closures are just less than 1 inch away from each other. There is no flap of fabric beneath the hook and eyes, which means there will be a bit of skin exposed if you weren’t wearing something beneath the bustier. The gap is ¼ of an inch.
The bustier has 10 plastic boning pieces to it: 4 down the front, 4 in the back, and 1 on each side. The boning pieces are covered in a black fabric, which matches the trim outlining the bustier and shoulder straps.
The shoulder straps are not detachable or adjustable. The straps do have stretch to them so you can adjust the width by stretching them but you cannot make them shorter. The shoulder straps are 4 ½ inches wide where they meet the top of the bustier and are 1 ¼ inches at their thinnest (top of shoulder). There are no fabric loops to the bustier for garter straps.
Oddly enough, the bustier is called “wet look bustier with padded cups” but in fact, there are no cups and no padding to this piece. This isn’t a problem for me but I can see it being an issue for some people. Since there is no padding, you’ll need to wear a pair of pasties or similar item beneath the bustier to avoid nipple outline. The material is very thin.
With the material being so stretchy, I decided to try the bustier on without undoing the hook and eye closures at the front. I pulled the bustier over my head and down my body. Surprisingly, it actually worked. The material is extremely stretchy. I didn’t even have to undo the lacing down the centre back so there was no skin exposed.
I’m 5’6 and the length and the piece worked really well for me. The bottom of the bustier covered my hips and belly nicely. The only thing with this bustier is that since the material is so thin and stretchy, it won’t give you a slimmer look. You can’t tighten the lace to pull your figure inwards since the material will just continue to stretch.

Experience

My C cups fit fine into the bustier. With the material being stretchy and width adjustable with the lacing, larger cup sizes would fit fine as well. The one thing that didn’t fit me nicely was the shoulder straps. They aren’t adjustable and I think I may have needed them to be a bit shorter. In the last photo above, I circled the area that I’m talking about. This part of the shoulder strap does not sit against my skin. It’s actually a bit baggy.
The bustier is comfortable and the material is non-irritating to the skin. I’d be comfortable wearing this piece for long periods of time without any issues. The care tag states that the bustier should be hand washed and I assume dried flat. The material will get a bit wrinkly if it’s folded.
I juggled between a 3 and 4 rating but decided with the three because there are a few things could be improved. Firstly, the fact that it’s called “…bustier with padded cups” but yet has no padding or no cups is misleading. Secondly, there is no panel beneath the hook and eyes. Lastly, either the shoulder straps are going to fit you or they won’t. It would have been nice if they were adjustable. I like the bustier but those few things had me deduct two stars.
