Warning: The Bottom Of The Babydoll Feels Like a Loose Bathing Suit
The Red Leopard Babydoll and G-string by Coquette is a cute piece, though it is definitely not one of my favourites. I had purchased it to wear out as a top in public but there are a few things that irk me about this piece so I'm not sure if I will or not. Either way, it's a cute piece for the bedroom and would look great on a variety of sizes!
Published:
Pros
inexpensive, comfortable material, can be worn in and out of bedroom, cute, stretchy.
Cons
bathing suit material, bra-style closure
The Red Leopard Babydoll and G-string by Coquette is available in size S-1X/2X. I purchased the size large. I had bought this piece because I had planned to wear it out in public. The back of the babydoll has a lingerie look with its bra-style closure, but I usually wear tops like this in public with a cardigan or similar item over top anyway.
The outfit arrived on a padded hanger surrounded by plastic. I never keep the plastic bags that come with these types of items, but the hanger is great to use to store the item in your closet when it’s not being worn. Attached to the babydoll was a cardboard tag that stated the company name, product name, size, and company website. There were also a few photos of a model wearing the outfit on the tag.
The babydoll is 90% nylon and 10% spandex (exclusive of trim). The material is very stretchy. The black material of the babydoll does seem to become more sheer then more you need to stretch it, but the style of the babydoll is for the black material to be flowing, not tight, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Below is a photo of the front and back of the babydoll (sorry about the crooked picture).
I’ve taken measurements of the item laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, send me a message and I can get them for you.
G-String
Waistband unstretched: 13 ½ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 23 inches
Widest part of material that covers your front area: 3 ¾ inches
Babydoll
Length (armpit to bottom of babydoll): 20 inches
Width underneath chest: 15 inches
Cup length: 5 ½ inches
Length of red print material underneath chest: 2 inches
Neck ties (from top of cup to end up ribbon): 21 inches each
The bra-like closure at the back of the babydoll does up with hook and eye closures. There are 3 rows of 2 eye closures with a ½ inch gap between the rows. The top of the babydoll has two neck ties which tie behind the neck. The measurement above is the entire length of the tie, though the 15 last inches of that measurement is black thick ribbon. The ties are quite lengthy so they should not be a problem for anyone.
When I had the top laying flat, there was approximately 3 inches between the bra-style closure at the back and the material that is just beneath it. Of course, that measurement really doesn’t mean much because it depends on how you wear the top as to how much distance will be between the two. I try to keep the bottom back part pulled up high that way there is less distance between the two, especially since I’m wearing shorter sweaters over top (hoping to cover the ugly back). I would have liked the back to just be elastic band rather than the bra-style closure. It’s not uncomfortable it’s just ugly.
There are three rows of mesh ruffle along the top of the cups on the babydoll. Above the ruffles is a black lace trim. Each ruffle is approximately 1 inch. There is a cute black bow at the centre top of the babydoll. On each cup there is a seam line that runs vertically down the centre. In the cups there is a very light padding so you do not need to wear a bra with the top, though there is no underwire. I wear a C cup and my chest fit fine in the cups. When I was wearing the babydoll, it fit best on the tightest eye closure row.
The red print material under the chest does not run around to the back of the babydoll. The print is only on the front. This printed part bothered me a little bit while I was wearing it because I found that if I sat down and than stood up (or moved around a lot), this area would sort of bunch up and not look even. Also, it seems the heavier your chest is, the more the cups weigh down over top of the material beneath the chest.
The flowing black material beneath the animal print reminds me of bathing suit material. Now, I don’t mind bathing suit material… when it’s on a bathing suit. It is soft against the skin but there is just something about it that I can’t stand. Maybe it’s the look, or maybe it’s the fact that it reminds me so much of a bathing suit. Maybe both. This of course is personal preference though. You may really enjoy it.

The g-string does not have a lining in it. The back of the g-string goes into a “v” shape, rather than going straight across the centre back of the band. I prefer when the band goes straight across, but that’s just a personal preference of mine.
The material of the outfit was not bothersome to my skin or caused any irritation while I was wearing it. The care tag states that the item should be hand washed only and hung to dry.
Overall, I’m giving the babydoll and g-string a 4 out of 5. It’s an inexpensive piece that can be worn in or out of the bedroom, it’s comfortable, comes in a variety of sizes, and is cute. I’ve deducted one star for all of the things I don’t like about it): underneath the chest, the bathing suit material at the bottom, and the bra-style closure in the back. These are subjective though, so that is why I’ve combined them.

Thanks for the review! I want this so badly, but I cannot decide which size to order since I have a waist that fits in a small or medium, but a 36D bust.
