Vintage Elegance
This Brocade Corset has an amazing pattern and detailing to its material. It's a bit of a hassle to put on, but it is well worth the cinched waist it has the potential of giving. The sizing is very accurate and does have a bit of wiggle room as well. I absolutely love the look of this, I just wish it was a bit more comfortable in the chest area.

Pros
Cinches waist, Well made, Pretty!, Can be worn out, True to size
Cons
Obscure breasts, Small-medium chests will drown and flatten, XL ones will flow over
The Brocade Corset from Coquette is a corset that I really wanted when I came on this site years ago. It got discontinued quite awhile ago, so I totally jumped on the opportunity to get it when I saw it come back in stock. It comes in a variety of sizes and due to the no cups and lace up design, it will mold to a variety of body types, as well. The brocade material is nicely textured and the construction is sturdy. It's not everything I'd hoped for in the bust section, but I'd need fake boobs for it to work better. Due to the way the bust is, I'm not yet sure if I'll wear this out, but I do love how sexy it looks , and it really does cinch the waist nicely.
*Contents/overview: One piece corset
This Brocade Corset has plastic boning and metal busk closure in the front. It ties in the back. It does not have a place for removable garters or straps. The corset also has no designated cups, padding, or underwire. It is made in three colors: white, red, and black, but it is currently only offered in red on Eden. It comes in sizes S, M, L, XL, and 1X/2X. The sizes run pretty true to size and have wiggle room because of the lace up closure.
*Material: Great, high quality
The corset is brocade with raised patterns, made of 57% cotton and 34% acetate, exclusive of the trim. The trim is the boning, busk, tie ups, and lace like decoration. Brocade has been woven into the cotton and acetate material to create the gorgeous raised floral design. The tie ups are nylon and sort of cheap feeling, but durability is what is important here. The boning is a flexible plastic and the busk is a very strong metal that I am not sure what exact kind it is. The grommets are also a type of metal. The main material is the brilliant red. It isn't a dark red, and has a slight fuchsia tint to it that is hard to show in pictures. The material is NOT stretchy at all. It has a satin silk like surface and has some sheen to it.
*Design/craftsmanship: Good, A bit awkward in spots
This strapless corset has a more vintage design to it with it's simple shape and no added frills. It has ten pieces of boning all around it, if you count the two pieces of metal busk in the front. There are three on each side in the front, each angled to the perfect points that envelope the waist and rib cage. The last sets of two are on both sides of the lacing in the back.
The bust has no underwire, padding, or any thing extra. The only thing that identifies it as the bust is a slight tuckering out. There is really no defined shape at all. The top almost comes across straight, but has a very slight curve with a little v cut in the middle when it is done up. The top has an interesting black trim that has club like (suit of cards) patterns. It is very soft, and not at all abrasive against the skin. The bottom has the same trim. however, the bottom has a v shape that comes down in the center. Depending on where your bottoms lie on your hips, it can sometimes pose a problem, but it also depends on how long your torso is. This corset is about 16" long from the center of the bust down to the point at the bottom.
The front has the busk closure with seven points. Since it is so sturdy, it can be hard to put on by yourself. It can be done, however! The pictures you see in this review are the product of me doing it myself. The back has two tie points in the center that adjust the top and bottom or just really cinch the middle. They are laced through metal grommets.
*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash, plastic bag with padded hanger
The tag says hand wash and this should only be done with room temperature water. Don't ever let it soak or be bleached. Spot cleaning is enough for me. It comes on a nice, padded hanger inside the plastic bag.

Experience
*Sizing/fit: Runs true to size with wiggle room
Considering that I'm now wearing a medium in most non-lace up Coquette corsets, I figured medium would be appropriate here. I was less nervous because of the lace up. I love that it is open a good amount in the back, really cinches, and has wiggle room if I want. They run pretty true to size. What I don't like is the way the corset smashes my breasts every which way. It would be nice if there was at least a piece of extra boning or SOMETHING to keep them more collected. Small busts will completely drown. Even I look a bit flat from the side before my cleavage appears over the top of the corset.
The medium is supposed to fit a 8-10 dress, B cup, 36-38", 26-30" waist, and 38-40" hips. I weigh ~142 pounds (size ~8); curvy but fit, with size 34/36 D breasts. My waist is about 30" and hips 38". I love the fit in my waist and hips. The part that hangs down can sometimes not lie flat if I tie it incorrectly. The bust is a bit of an issue because the breasts are smushed freely. The corset creates an upside down tear shape for them, the flattest part at the bottom of the breasts. It is a tad uncomfortable, but nothing unbearable and takes a bit or repositioning to get the breasts in the right place.
My Re-done chart: For the medium - very true to size
Dress: 6-10
Cup: C-D (C is best)
Band: 34-36"
Waist: 26-31"
Hips: 36-40"
*Possible accessories:
For this piece, I'd wear it with a simple pair of black panties. It comes down a bit too far to be worn well with a garter belt. The way I prefer to wear it is with a pair of sexy dark denim jeans! It's a bit too complicated to wear during sex if you want to remove it quickly.
*Putting it on:
This corset is more difficult to put on than one that simply has hook and eyes. The easiest way for me is to put the busk together in the front. That can be hard to do since it is so sturdy. Once you have that together, you can reach back and pull from the center of the corset (grab BOTH pull points). I then pull as tight as I can then tie them together. Of course, this is easier to do with a partner, and would probably get the corset tighter in the back than I have it, but it is possible to do alone.
*Conclusion: 4 stars ****
Because of the obscure breasts, I'm giving this 4 stars. I would give it 4.5 if I could. I can wear it out, but I wish it were more comfortable in the chest. It is made well enough that I can really pull on the lacing. I like how it looks even without my partner's help, and I know that with it, I could get my waist even smaller. If you want a more traditional, baroque style corset with elegance, this is it.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
Still one of my favorite corsets, I hope to get this brocade style corset in other colors and slight variations. Having no cups does have its cons, but it have more pros when compared to other Coquette corsets that have cups that are too small! This corset doesn't show any wear and has done just fine with spot cleaning.
