Two full cups must be carried steadily. (XL)
Shiny, provocative, dare I say...plucky? I should think so. Putting this on (even if XL does fit me a little big) gives me an immediate confidence boost, even while modeling it with lopsided garters in my green shorts. This was my second choice for all the recent wetlook items that came out, but now it's probably my favorite piece from Coquette.
Published:
Pros
Good quality, Adjustability, SHINY, Hooks won't come undone, Removable straps and garters
Cons
Can get warm, Lack of breast support, Impossible to put on and remove gracefully
At first overwhelmed by all the new Coquette wet look items, it came down to two pieces: The Wetlook Bustier With "Padded Cups" and this pretty little number. This piece ended up coming out on top. I'm not a huge Coquette fan, but this one is a win for me.
This item came in cellophane wrapping and on a plastic hanger.
Included: One shiny bustier, two removable/ adjustable shoulder straps, four removable/ adjustable garters
The tag simply states that this piece is 100% Polyurethane, exclusive of trim, and that it should be hand washed. And to that I say: Duh. I apologize to anyone who's looked at this and wondered if they could run it through the washer/dryer, but it's pretty obvious that this is a hand wash item. If something is spilled on the outside, it can simply be wiped off with a damp cloth.
Here we have the outside of the garment. This fabric has no stretch. It also doesn't have much breathe-ability, but, surprisingly, it doesn't get as warm as the red wetlook items that I own from Coquette (see link above).
Of course, this is the inside of the bustier. The material is not rough or irritating. All of these measurements were taken with the lacing as is. Save for the cups, this top only has one layer of material. The cups have a thick lining (though I wouldn't really call it "padding") that will really only serve to mask hard nips.
Here are all the straps, just so everything is accounted for, and having varied photos make me feel like I have a nice rounded review :P
I know this applies to plenty of folks. If you have a healing navel piercing, and you're dead set on wearing this, you should probably wear a tank or something under the bustier.
Sizing Information: Coquette's size chart states that an XL should fit:
Size: 14-16
Cup: D
Bust: 42-44
Waist: 34-36
Hips: 44-46
Me:
Size: 14-16
Cup: C
Bust: 42
Waist: 32
Hips: 42
For those of you who read my last review and may be thinking, "Why didn't she order this in a large?"....I ordered the two at the same time. That's why they're both mildly ill-fitting and not just one of them.
Me in the bustier as seen from the front. No, I normally wouldn't wear this with green denim shorts (much less with garters going OVER said shorts), but I was feeling exceptionally generous today and decided not to subject you to any pictures of my flat, pasty white ass.
The cups seem to be best suited to C and D cups, though DD's could probably work in this too, given the adjustability of the top and lack of underwire. Just remember that shaping isn't going to happen and support is there but quite limited.
With this item, I would trust Coquette's size chart. For wide, dramatic lacing, you could go a little above the measurements provided. I think the most important measurement to heed is the waist. Keep in mind that the lacing will be pretty much closed at the waist if your waist measures 34 inches. Anything under that and the bustier will be loose. Anything over that will be how wide the lacing is in your waist.
Obligatory side view.
....Obligatory back view.
Despite my complaints about the sizing (which is totally my fault. Coquette's size chart is all kinds of accurate), this is still quite the hot little number. I do fear that the (plastic) boning may warp, but I haven't noticed that as of yet, and I don't think that removing the boning would cause the material to bunch, so I'm very happy with this piece overall, ESPECIALLY when I consider that I haven't had much luck where Coquette is concerned.
Thanks for reading and feel free to ask questions. :)
