Teeny Weeny Bikini Beach Covering
I was determined to own this one from the minute I saw it. First thing that came to mind was that it would make for a sexy two piece beach set over a bikini. It doesn’t really look much like lingerie to me. It screams beach wear and that’s what I plan to use it for. When I first opened the package I seriously panicked. What I was looking at was incredibly micro! I have seen infant clothing that is bigger than this set. How on earth was I going to get my DD’s and semi butt into that?????

BRAND & COLOUR:
The Quarter Crochet Net Top & Skirt set is a Rene Rofe creation and is made in Taiwan. I personally hadn’t had the pleasure of owning any of their lingerie before.
It is only available in black and in One size fits most. It will fit a range of sizes from very petite to XL. Although someone who is an XL is pushing it to the max. The top on me was a very neat fit, but was tolerable. But the skirt was just too tight on me and uncomfortable at this stage. Then again, it’s also going to depend on what kind of XL you are; if you’re lean then you’ll probably be fine with this.
This is what the set looked like when I pulled it from the packaging. How cute is that? And see how my panic as an XL came about?
Unfortunately the (artifical) lighting made the set look faded, but it is pure black like on the product page.
MATERIAL:
The crochet set is 100% Nylon and because of the crochet nature it is completely see through. Even though the pattern has crochet holes all over and in between isn’t very thick, it actually is quite warm. May be not a set you want to keep on too long at the beach on a hot summers day. Perhaps if they make one with short sleeves it may be more practical. As you can guess, the fabric is extremely stretchy and naturally the more you need to stretch the set, the larger the crochet holes appear.
When putting this set on, make sure there’s no rough skin or nails as they will snag on this big time. There’s the possibility that it could pull and break some of the fine threads of crocheting which will ruin it. I believe it would take a bit to do so; if you choose to ignore a catch.
It also takes a little bit to getting it sitting perfectly which in returns makes it more comfy. It feels very fragile, so I didn’t want to pull it too much. Trick is to put it on exactly where you want the shoulder seams instead of putting it on and trying to adjust. May sound like work, but it’s worth it!
Above is the skirt. You can see just how narrow it is before it's been stretched at all.
Unfortunately I tried it on before I took measurements of each piece straight from the package. Needless to say though, the stretched measurements are going to be far more helpful, as it’s going to fit the tiniest of females. It will just have smaller looking holes in the pattern.
The measurements are done across the garment, so double the figures (apart from the top of arms) for a full fit.
TOP:
Both the back and front have the exactly same deep neck, so it really doesn’t matter which way you put it on. The neck features thin black elastic to form a neat finish. The wrists also sports the same.
The only seams are at the top of the shoulders and where the sleeves attach to the top. At the hem is a natural cast off, so it gives it a slight wavy appearance which will mostly disappear when worn due to being stretched.
Chest:
Stretched: 28”
Circumference at top of arms:
Stretched: 43”
Length of arms:
Unstretched: 19 ½”
Length of top from shoulder:
Unstretched: 12”
SKIRT:
The skirt is done in one continuous pieces so there are absolutely no seams. At the bottom is your typical cast off to create a natural hem. The waist band is a very thin (4mm) piece of black elastic so the skirt keeps its shape at the top.
Waist:
Stretched: 23”
Hips:
Stretched: 25”
Length:
Unstretched: 10”
The lingerie pictured below are modelled by Eve. Her measurements are 37", 33", 42" and she has a D cup.
CLEANING ~ PACKAGING:
There are no labels what so ever in either piece, but the package says to hand wash in cold water and drip dry. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean.
My set arrived neatly folded between cardboard which features the product page model on the front and back. It was then in plastic with a resealable flap in the bottom. It could be kept, but the two piece will take up bugger all space in your draw without it.

Experience
EXPERIENCE:
I loved this when first seeing it on Eden and I love it in person; after getting over the initial shock. I have always been a huge fan of crochet items, usually tops but I do already have a beach skirt which I love. Once I’m small enough, this set will definitely be taking up prime position in my beach wear.
I’m in the process of losing weight, so I’ll be saving this one for when I’m at my goal - for fear of stretching it too much. I hope to be making the most of it come next summer!
If you’re totally taken by this one and are up to a size L, I say go for it. It’s cheap enough, so you don’t have too much to lose. Just be warned that there is absolutely no chest support in this one.
The crochet fabric is soft, I found no itching at all and I’m the type who often finds pure wool to be irritating against my skin.
I was going to give this 5 stars, but I’m knocking one off cause everyone should be able to enjoy this set - they should make it in a plus size too ~ 4 stars!
